She's also up for an AMA and a My VH1 Award. You was also recently featured on EXTRA for her great style. Keep your eyes peeled, because Nelly is everywhere lately!

July 23, 2001~Nelly is set to open for U2's elevation tour on two dates in Europe when she is finished with her stint performing at the nationally acclaimed Area:One Tour. Nelly proved herself worthy of opening for the legendary band U2 when she stood in for an ill PJ Harvey for a few dates earlier this year. The tour is already sold out, so you will have to wait until Nelly goes on tour herself or with another artist to see her in concert unless you have tickets. You can also check her out at one of the fairs or festivals she will be appearing at before her trip to Europe, or of course, with Moby and others on the Area:One tour.

July 20, 2001~NellyFurtado.com is under construction, getting a new look! The website is set to reopen soon coincide with the release of the "Turn Off The Light" video. July 15, 2001~The reviews are in and the Area:One Festival is a hit. Newspapers in Atlanta, Washington, and Philadelphia are praising Moby and his group of performers. I think I smell success for the rest of the tour! Way to go Nelly and all her fellow performers. An interesting thing you may notice is that Nelly Furtado is the only female who is one of the main performers. She must feel honored. Congratulations to Nelly!

June 30, 2001~ NME reports: "TIMBALAND and JA RULE have remixed NELLY FURTADO's forthcoming single 'TURN OFF THE LIGHT', NME.COM can reveal.
The track, taken from her current album 'Whoa Nelly', is likely to be released on August 20 to coincide with her appearance at the V2001 festival the previous weekend (August 18-19)." How exciting! It should be great to hear it.

June 11, 2001~Nelly is up for the Teen Choice Award for "Best Breakthrough Artist"!Other artists in the category are Dido, Dream, Eden's Crush, Lifehouse, Samantha Mumba, 3LW and O-Town. Make sure to vote for Nelly, and you can watch the Awards when the show airs on FOX on August 20th.
May 31, 2001~Nelly sang for Portuguese President Jorge Sampaio in Toronto! For the singer, it was definitely an event she will remember. Sampaio is visiting Canada in efforts to promote economic partnerships with Canadian business, but he also had some time just to enjoy the country. He specially requested Nelly to perform at the private function along with Ala Dos Namorados, a popular Portuguese group. Nelly was very honored that he requested her, and honored to have him as a fan.
May 28, 2001~,The World Music Awards aired last night on ABC. Nelly had the crowd on their feet and singing along with "I'm Like A Bird" and later on she got to present an award. Monaco definitely loved Nelly, as did the world!
May 26, 2001~Yesterday Nelly was filming her next video in Los Angeles. The music video is for the song "Turn Off The Light"(my personal favorite) and should be hitting airwaves some time this summer. What made this video different is Nelly reached out to fans, offering them the opportunity to be in the video as extras, although the only compensation fans received was personal gratification. Watch for Nelly's lates music video this summer!

May 15, 2001~Nelly played her first full gig outside North America last night in London. Backed by a six-piece band that included a percussionist and DJ on decks, the Canadian-Portugese songstress played an hour and a half long set before a sold-out crowd. Nelly also revealed her next single will be the track 'Turn Off The Light'.
May 14, 2001~Last night at the West Coast Music Awards, Nelly was a big winner. She won 4 awards, equal to the number of Juno awards she won in March. Nelly took home awards for female artist of the year, producer of the year (with Gerald Eaton and Brian West), best pop/dance release and best major label release. Congratulations, Nelly!
May 7, 2001~Tonite Nelly guest starred on the WB's hit show Roswell, and sang her hit song "I'm Like A Bird" on the show. Do I see more acting in Nelly's future? Maybe not, but it was great to see her on TV.

Missy Elliott's "Get Ur Freak On" remix featuring Nelly Furtado will be one of the songs included on the "Tomb Raider" soundtrack which will be released in June. Other artists on the soundtrack include U2, Trent Reznor, the Chemical Brothers, Groove Armada, Outkast, Basement Jaxx and Fatboy Slim.

Nelly Furtado was lucky to be one of the many artists performing in a tribute to the Queen of Soul - Aretha Franklin. Other artists who attended were Marc Anthony, Jill Scott, Celia Cruz and more. The VH1 Divas Live special was broadcasted live from Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Nelly won many awards at the 4th Annual Canadian Radio Music Awardsheld in downtown Toronto. Awards she won were for for Best New Pop/Adult Solo Artist and Best New Top 40 Artist for her first single, "I'm Like a Bird." Congratulations Nelly!

Nelly and the band recently got to meet and open for U2! Nelly filled in for an ill PJ Harvey for two consecutive dates of the Elevation Tour on March 29th in Charlotte and March 30th in Atlanta.

Nelly Furtado was invited to sing at the 9th Annual Oscar Party to benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation in LA. Nelly performed with her band a few songs including the very popular "I'm Like A Bird" Elton joined Nelly for "Legend" and the crowd loved it. It was a great night for all, especially for the good cause.

She is up for best major-label release with "Whoa, Nelly!", best pop dance release, female artist of the year, and producer of the year. The awards ceremony will be held in Vancouver, Canada, on Sunday, May 1.I wish her good luck!
