The Colombo Crime Family was originally called the Profaci Crime Family after Joe Valachi's testimony, however after Joe Colombo's very public Italian Anti-Defamation campaign the family was renamed. In the modern day the family may as well be renamed the Persico Crime Family. With Carmine Persico imprisoned for life as boss, and his son Alphonse Junior imprisoned for life as Acting Boss it seems as though a Persico will take over as boss of the family from prison for another three to four decades. The Colombo Crime Family has been destroyed by the internal strife which has plagued the family as well as heavy FBI scrutiny.
