Article A-ListAlright all you Twitter A-listers, you movers and shakers and natural leaders - time to answer one question: How are YOU doing? Before you answer, may I ask you to take one moment and think before you speak? You see, I know so many of us are so used to being "on" and so very much "in the A-list mindset," that often our knee-jerk response is: "I'm great! How are you?!" Now, that may certainly be the case. A-listers tend to be a particular breed, I've noticed. We are aware and awake, inspired and motivated. But that doesn't mean we don't get tired, or need to just... rest, now and again. It doesn't mean we couldn't use some building up every once in a while, the way we so naturally and so devotedly build up others. Those who do a lot, give a lot and burn through a lot of energy every day, really need to regularly re-fill the well from which they regularly draw. So now, with that said, tell me: how are you doing? I don't get to tweet all of you as often as I'd like (though I am a twitter addict - let's just get that out there, okay?) but I do watch my stream, and I know; I see. Many of you are constantly revved up, exuding your A-list charm, energy and persona. I see you amazing folks, walking that A-lister swagger. But my friends, please... remember to take time for YOU. It's so important for us to do all the things we know we should - like gift ourselves with superior nutrition, indulge in fun and passionate endeavors, rest, relax, sleep and re-charge. If we don't, it is only a matter of time before we begin to feel taxed - A-listers, or not. Above, I called this "refilling the well" and this is a good term, I think. So often, when we give constantly to others or live in such a manner as to use up (and give off) a lot of energy, we eventually feel... depleted. The level to which we feel depleted is different for everyone. I imagine it wouldn't happen so quickly for Joe Gigantino, Mzzz Heather of Smash Fit or Deepak Chopra or Wayne Dyer, for that matter. (Yes, Joe and Heather, you may take your bows now - your names just appeared in the same sentence as Chopra and Dyer!) But make no mistake; A-lister though you may be, you're only human at the end of the day. So as I said, let's do it together, shall we? Just four basic things can keep us strong in mind, body and spirit. They are: 1. Superior nutrition. You know what is good for you, and what isn't. Eat well. Give your body food it can use to create health; nourish yourself with food that will heal and strengthen. I personally believe depriving oneself of all culinary indulgences only sets us up to binge at some point. Eat well the majority of the time; then reward yourself with a dessert or chocolate, a glass of wine or umbrella drink. Even A-listers have to "live a little"! 2. Excellent rest and renewal. In the form of down-time, nap-time, hiking the trails or walking the beach. Renewal may also come in the form of doing something you love - such as treating yourself to a spa visit or perusing books at the book store. Rest, and renew, A-listers. You'll be all the better for it. 3. Healing sleep. This is another matter entirely. Healing sleep is apart from rest and renewal. My A-lister friends who are health, healing or nutrition buffs will know this: we heal when we sleep. Yes, this is when our bodies address sickness or disease; sleep time is also when we naturally detoxify and this is when cells rejuvenate. There is no way around it: an excellent amount of healing sleep is required each night. 4. Keep your spirit alive. You know what your spiritual path is; you know what form of spirituality speaks to you. Walk that path; put yourself in that spiritual space. Not only will you be more connected to source energy, but you will be more grounded, peaceful, clear and centered. You will feel and know that your work and your life has purpose, and your speech and actions will take on a brighter sheen. Together, let's commit to these four foundational practices, if we haven't already. We'll be all the more healthy, empowered, grounded, and able to continue the wonderful work we're already doing. That's our broadcast for today, A-listers. As you were. *winks* ~ Jo Lynne Valerie
