Lara Croft Tomb Raider The Cradle of Life

The Story

A wedding celebration on the Greek coast is interrupted by the onset of an earthquake, which in turn gives away the general location of the Luna Temple, Alexander the Great's long-lost treasure trove., hidden beneath the ocean waves. Lara Croft is the first person on the scene to pinpoint the exact location of the Temple, diving down to find the massive tomb acts as an air pocket. Inside are all manner of treasures, including a shining black orb called the Mati. Lara takes a number of pictures of the orb, but before she can remove it, she's attacked by a man named Chen Lo and his Shay-Ling assassins. Chen Lo takes the Mati, but not before Lara notices a pendant around his neck.

Lara is left in the now crumbling Temple without oxygen to get her to the sea surface, and has to concoct an ingenious, highly risky escape plan, which leaves her floating in the ocean unconscious. Meanwhile, aboard a mid-flight priavete jet, Dr. Jonathan Reiss is holding a meeting of shadowy international figures, promising to the highest bidder the ultimate weapon: Pandora's Box.

Back in the ocean, Lara is picked up by her assistants, Hillary and Bryce, in a submarine. They return to Croft Manor, and establish from the pictures Lara took that the Mati is a map of some kind. Lara is visited by representatives of MI6, who inform her of Reiss' plans for Pandora's Box and attempt to obtain her help in stopping him. She agrees, but on one condition: they also enlist the aid of Terry Sheridan, Lara's former lover and one of the most dangerous men alive, as Terry has had previous dealings with Chen Lo.

Lara gets Terry released from the Kazakhstan jail he's rotting in, and together they track Chen Lo to the Great Wall of Chine. After a fight, Chen Lo is killed and Lara grabs the pendant he wears. But the Mati is spirited away to another location. Lara and Terry track it to a handover to Reiss and his henchman Sean in Shanghai, and another battle ensues, this time in the Flower Pagoda Square. Reiss escapes with the Mati, but Lara places a tracking device on him.

Once again, Lara and Terry track the Mati, this time to Reiss, secret base in Hong Kong underneath a shopping center. They break in and steal the Mati before Reiss' technicians can unlock its secrets. The two retire to a hotel and, with the help of Hillary and Bryce back at Croft Manor, Lara combines Chen Lo's pendant with the Mati and reveals the full map: directions to Pandora's Box in the Cradle of Life in Kenya. Unbeknownst to Lara, however, Hillary and Bryce are being held at gunpoint by Reiss' men.

Traveling to Kenya without Terry-who has, as far as he's concerned, fulfilled his part of the bargain-Lara hooks up with her Maasai friend Kosa. He helps in enlisting Maasai guides to the Cradle of Life, but as the party reaches the Petrified Forest at the base of the volcano, Reiss and his men-with the captured Hillary and Bryce in tow-ambush them. Reiss forces Lara to cooperate. They continue on toward the Cradle of Life and Pandora's Box, but out in the Petrified Forest an ancient force is stirring, and starting to violently pick off Reiss' men...
