Feature WINS 2005

May 28th 2005 Merrittville WON Feature #1
May 28th Story By: Bruce Bonham:
By the third lap of the Hoosier Stock 20 lapper, cars were racing
under the starters stand four wide. But after beginning the
skirmish from fifth within the 19-car grid, 2003 champ Dolf
McCreadie was back in top form, storming in to Turn 3 to become
leader of the pack when passing early front man Ed Fargnoli.
Rick Champigny made moves good enough to get into second,
bringing Billy Hogue with him.
But lurking was three-time winner Tyler McPherson who was already
in second by Lap 12 and challenging the leader, eventually
getting by McCreadie four laps later.
Three laps after taking over, the 16-year-old sensation,
whos won all three events this season, found himself out of
shape between Turns 1 and 2, a victim of Terry Larmets
spinning car.
Not happy with being relegated to the back-of-the-pack at the
restart, the youngster stopped in front of the starters
stand to make and unsportsman-like gesture in the direction of
the race director.
When the field re-rolled, defending champ Mike Dooley staged a
splendid, side-by-side car control exhibition for a couple laps
with the former title holder, getting good bite off Turn 4 to
take, and hold, the lead over McCreadie ... then surviving a
last-lap shootout to break McPhersons impressive
feature-winning string.
"Its not always the fastest car that wins,"
Dooley said after see-sawing his way to the lead. "Just
gotta be in the right place at the right time."
Travis Brauns second place string was also broken off when
climbing up to third, ahead of Russ Davidson and early leader
Fargnoli.

The racing surface made it's mark with the Ladies race with
Charlene Dooley defeating Karen Kocarik for the win.
Pit Notes: Tonight's sponsor Colonial Flower Shop provided
Flowering Plants for the first 250 Mother in attendance tonight.
A correction from last weeks results in the Brian's Tire Street
Stocks as Mike Dooley was the driver and not Wife Charlene who
competes with the Lady racers. An ATV exhibition took place
intermission sponsored by Welland Co Speedway. Warmer weather
brought out a much healthier crowd for week 2 after the cold and
dampness of last week.
June 11th 2005 Merrittville WON Feature #2
'The Candy Man,' Mike Dooley from St. Catharines took his second street stock win of the season, besting Bill Hogue, who won his first feature ever at Humberstone the previous Sunday. Dooley moved smartly through the field from his thirteenth place starting spot to overcome Hogue, bidding for his second win in a row, on lap 16. Hogue held on for second, followed by Rick Champigny, Ron Kingsbury, and Rick Beales.

Race Story By Fran Bushardt:
In the 20 lap Brain's Tire Repair Street Stocks, Fred Korten and
Jason Fontaine aboard a borrowed ride from Ed Fargnoli set the
pace to the green with Fontaine as the leader but the cream rose
to the top quickly as the top 5 drivers consisting of Fontaine,
Travis Braun, Tyler McPherson, Bill Hogue and Mike Dooley broke
from the field. Lap 3 Mike
Dooley was 3rd but the 5 car bunch traded positions fast and
clean. Lap 4 Dooley went for the lead choosing the inside with Mc
Pherson following likewise. Lap 8 Mc Pherson took the outer lane
and took the lead but by lap 12 Dooley regained the lead as Mc
Pherson bobbled along the inner rail. Braun and Hogue continued
to battle hard and fast but would fall short in the 20 lap
caution free feature. Dooley picked up his first ever Humberstone
feature after a couple years of trying followed by Braun, Hogue,
Mc Pherson and Fontaine rounding out the top 5. Dooley and Hogue
won the heats.

CANDYMAN DOOLEY 2 FOR 2 AT HUMBERSTONE SPEEDWAY
The "Candyman" Mike Dooley took the Brian's Tire Repair
Street Stock feature at Humberstone Speedway Sunday Night. The
win on Zanchin Truck and Trailer night came for Dooley after
winning his first of the season last week. In the 20 lap Brian's
Tire Repair Street Stock feature, Murray Nichols and Kevin
Kocarik led the field to the green with a fresh powerplant in the
Kocarik racer taking the point in the early going. The only
yellow came on lap 2 as Kevin Knapp and Travis Braun came
together. The restart would have Kocarik leading and Mike Dooley
taking the 2nd spot along with Billy Hogue and Tyler McPherson.
The fine battle took place as Kocarik took the outside line and
dooley to the inside for several laps and finally Dooley took the
lead on lap 11 and Mcherson taking third behind Kocarik. Lap 12
McPherson took the 2nd spot but was unable to take the lead so
Dooley would take win number 2 in 2 weeks with McPherson 2nd
along with Kocarik, Hogue and Braun making it back to the top 5
at the end.
Dooley and Hogue were the heat winners.
