Our New Apartment

A Journey in  Relocating

So we are moving soon, not for a couple of months, but soon none the less.  I will be keeping a diary of sorts on the entire process of the move.  First, lets look at my current apartment and the new one we will be moving into.

Updated February 13th, 2004

My Current Complex -

The Meadows of Bedford
1400 Sierra Springs Dr.
Bedford, TX  76021

I have lived in this complex for the last two years.  Overall I would say that they have not been all that bad.  There is a major parking problem and the trash situation is a little messed up, but they are cheap and at the time that was all that mattered.  Here are some pictures from the around the complex.

  My Unit -

This is the floor plan we are currently in -

As you can see, it is not very large.  With two people and a dog we do not have a lot of room there.  The unit is one bedroom, one bath with 581 square feet.  We are on the first floor and my upstairs neighbors have a pack of elephants or something.  The balcony is a little deceiving because it is much too small to spend any time on.  Two people cannot stand near each other at the same time.

Rent -

When I moved into the complex, my rent was $475 a month plus water (average bill about $16.00 a month).  When my six month lease was up I renewed my lease for one year I was able to keep my current rate of $475 a month, but my water bill had slowly worked it's way up to about $20 a month.  When that year was up, my rent was bumped up to $480 a month and my water bill is not nearing $25 dollars a month.

I cannot tell you much about the complex since I do not live there yet, but I can tell you that there is free covered parking (assigned) and free curbside trash pick-up three times a week.  Here area few pictures -

Our Unit -

This is the floor plan we are going to be in -

As you can see, it is much larger and designed with a more open feel.  It is two bedroom, two bath (the master bath has a garden tub) and totals 965 square feet.  It also has full-size washer and dryer connections and a huge balcony.  We are going to be on the third floor with a great view of the lake.  Beats the hell out of our current view of a brick wall.

Rent -

We will most likely be signing either a 12 or 15 month lease.  Our rent will be $705 a month and we will have to pay our own water.  As apposed to my current complex, we will pay for individually metered water, not an average of the complex.  This is better for me, even if the bill is more, I know that I will be only paying for what I use.

Make sure to come back soon for updates!
