What is "Doepie Soekie" ?

Download Now

Pronunciation (for English speakers): Doop~ee Sue-key

"Doepie Soekie" is a duplicate (bit-for-bit, byte-for-byte, identical) file finder, it does not consider the filename's, extensions (at least explicitly), dates created, dates accessed and/or dates modified of files when checking for duplicates.

You tell "Doepie Soekie" where to look, which folders and/or drives, optionally which file types and it will check every file against every file (at least in theory) to find duplicates (two or more files that have identical content). For you convienance "Doepie Soekie" also has an exclusions section, which allows the exclusion of entire folders and/or files. Files can be excluded by type, files with sizes that fall below an optionally specified minimum size will be excluded and of course files with sizes larger than an optionally specified maximum size will be excluded.

Additionally a results viewer/duplicate file manager called "Kykie Doepie" is included. "Kykie Doepie" groups sets of duplicate files together which are then displayed in a grid, the files small icon or thumnail is shown, along with its relevant data items (name, type, size, date created, date modified, date accessed, attributes and path). All files within the duplicate sets can be sorted by a relevant data item and variuos filter options can also be applied (e.g. filter by value, filter excluding value, partial filter on some data items)

During your filtering and sorting activities you will tick the relevant duplicates you no longer require and once this done "Kykie Doepie" will allow you to either delete all ticked files (to recycle bin) or to move them to a single folder. For advanced users, that require more complex duplicate file management, "Kykie Doepie" facilitates the execution of Visual Basic or Java scripts via the Microsoft script control (refer to the "Kykie Doepie" help file for more on this). The duplicate file results can also be exported to text or xml, the format of either output is customisable via an xsl stylesheet (refer to the help for more).

Lastly the duplicate file results can be saved and reopened at a later stage allowing you to continue with your duplicate file cleaning excercise without needing to run the search again. If in the interim, between saving and reopening, files have been moved and/or deleted, they will be marked as such and you will not be able to tick the file for deletion or moving.

Really lastly, a NOTE on images: To the human eye two images may seem to be exact duplicates but to a computer they could be chaulk and cheese, the slightest variation of shade on any colour on an image would result in the computer seeing the two as different files, which is technically correct.

Really, Really, Lastly,...DONT DO DUMBASS THINGS....I strongly suggest you exercise extreme caution when managing duplicate files. Do not make the assumption that all duplicate files can safely be deleted. In fact doing so would probably have disastrous consequences for your PC; this is especially true when dealing with exe's and dll's. Kwaai Software, me, myself and I cannot be held liable for any damages resulting from actions undertaken by yourself. If you are unsure about deleting a duplicate file, it probably means you shouldn't and we suggest you don't! Ultimately you are responsible for your actions...

Oh, by the way "Doepie Soekie" is Free for private individual use (refer to the licensing in the help file)..
