Introduction

The encountering of women who joined what used to be an Army of "men"
changed the way that we look at women and their physical and mental capabilities.
At first many military men where surprised that many women wanted to join the
Army, many also thought that the women would be too soft and fragile to be able
to join the Army. Although they were underestimated, because when WW II came,
over 150,000 women were already enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC).
Slowly, but surely, the women have proven themselves
trustworthy as well as reliable to carry out what has to
be done. Whether it was from doing administrator work
or being out in the battlefield as a surgical nurse, the
women who proudly joined the Army stuck with the men
to gain their trust and make them change their minds
about the capabilities of women.
They prevailed, the WAC was the first military group
that gave women ranks within the Army.
