This week's devotion is entitled:

Trait #6: Forgiveness

The gift that Jesus died for on the cross is the same gift that we should be ready and willing to extend to those who have wronged us. Read these verses on forgiveness and pray the prayer following them. This week I encourage you to memorize one or all of the verses and pray this prayer every night so that you can attain this all important Christian Character Trait.

You must make allowance for each other's faults and forgive the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
~Colossians 3:13 (NLT)

Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
~Ephesians 4:32 (NLT)

”And forgive us our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us."
~Matthew 6:12 (NLT)

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You so much for sending Your one and only Son Jesus to die on the cross for my sins so that I could come to You and seek forgiveness without offering a sacrifice, because He was my eternal sacrifice. Thank You for the incredible gift of forgiveness and redemption. Help me to forgive those who wrong me—friends, family, and foes—so that You will forgive me, and so that I may free myself of the burden of bottled up anger. Help me to forgive quickly and with grace, and not slowly and bitterly, Lord. Help me to show others what Your forgiveness is like by forgiving them of their sins against me readily, gladly, and with love. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
