This week's devotion is entitled:
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
In this time that there are so many that need help and need ministry, it is a time not to think of ourselves, but to think of others. Such a change has taken place in me and my attitude. I feel like I should pray for everyone and everything else at night before I get around to praying for myself and my needs. And that is the way God wants us to feel. I don't personally believe that God sent this hurricane and this destruction, because God does not destroy, but builds up. I believe that Satan sent the storm to destory. But God wants us to learn lessons from our trials (Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.~1 Peter 4:12-13). I believe that one of the major lessons God wants us to learn from all of this is that we should not be selfish, but give generously to others.
But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us-—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.
I hope that everyone takes these verses to heart, and tries their best to give of themselves to help anyone in need, as this is a great ministry tool.
