This week's devotion is entitled:
Hey guys! I've decided to start something with the devotions called "Think About This One." I'll post a meaningful verse in several different translations, and you have to decide what this verse means to you and how you apply it to your daily life. This is designed to get you thinking deeply and critically about the Bible. I want you guys to be able to read a verse, and instead of letting it just sliding right over your head, actually reading deeper into the meaning of it. So here's this week's verse: 1 Peter 2:15-16.
For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.
For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men—as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.
It is God's will that by doing good, you might cure the ignorance of the fools who think you're a danger to society. Exercise your freedom by serving God, not by breaking the rules.
It is God's will that your good lives should silence those who make foolish accusations against you. You are not slaves; you are free. But your freedom is not an excuse to do evil. You are free to live as God's slaves.
Start thinking!
