This week's devotion is entitled:

Unshakable Faith

Unshakable faith. The world is shakable, but because we as Christians are not of the world and are even supposed to try to be different (Romans 12:2), we should be unshakable in our faith in Jesus Christ. But do you really really know what faith is? What does it mean to have faith in something? You can't have unshakable faith if you don't even know what it is. So let's go to the Biblical definition.

What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.
~Hebrews 11:1 (NLT)

Here the author of Hebrews (who is to this day not known for certain) begins to list from the Old Testament people who received great rewards because of their faith, people who were able to perform great miracles because of their faith, and people who were able to endure great suffering because of their faith. This isn't just to make a convenient list for us to refer back to, there's a reason for it. The author of Hebrews wanted to give us Biblical examples of the way we should be in our faith, and encourage us to have unshakable faith. Once again, there's a question. How can you have unshakable faith if you don't know what to do? Once again, the Bible has the answer.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish. He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy he knew would be his afterward. Now he is seated in the place of highest honor beside God's throne in heaven. Think about all he endured when sinful people did such terrible things to him, so that you don't become weary and give up.
~Hebrews 12:1-3

Good luck and God bless on your journey to unshakable faith!
