This week's devotion is entitled:
Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality;...For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.
Do not stir up nor awaken love Until it pleases.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul
The Bible is filled with verses condemning lust and adultery, and it is obvious that lust and promiscuity are harmful to your reputation, your witness, and your health. Impure thoughts take your mind off of God, and often lead to impure actions. Impure actions hurt your ability to be a vessel for Christ and spread His word. Committing sexual immorality causes pain for you. It is a sin you commit against yourself.
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.
Today's society tells us that sex is pretty much OK whenever and with whoever you want. Society tells us that waiting until marriage for sex is outdated and uncool. It pains me to see relationship advice columns talking about sex like it's a huge part of every common relationship. Sex and lust are glamorized, being made the topics of books, TV shows, and movies. It's everywhere, and it's only getting worse. It's hard to stay pure in a world like this, but as Christians we must do God's will and show the world that we are different, because we are not of the world. But much more importantly, we must stay pure to stay away from disease, and make marriage special. And as hard as it may seem to stay pure, there is always hope for us:
How can a young person live a clean life? By carefully reading the map of your Word.
