This week's devotion is entitled:

The Parable of the House on the Rock

I thought I would do something different this week, and apply a parable to the Christian life of today.

"Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great."
~Luke 6:47-49

The parable says that the man who took the Word of Jesus to heart, and followed it, was able to stand up in a time of troubles. This is a principle that still holds true today. But you have to ask yourself, how much do you really take the Word of God to heart? Do you apply the lessons of the Bible to your life? Do you follow the commandments Jesus has given us, especially to love one another as He loved us?

Make sure your foundations are in God's Word, so that you can stand in the worst of times.
