This week's devotion is entitled:

Trust God

Stop putting your trust in mere humans. They are as frail as breath. How can they be of help to anyone?~Isaiah 2:22 (NLT)

I read this verse the other day during a Bible study I am currently working on. It struck me as so simple, but with such a great revelation, and I wanted to share it with you guys.

It asks a simple, but implied, question: why are you trusting humans? Why do you trust politicians? Why do you trust earthly leaders? Why do you trust your peers? Why do you trust your friends? How many of these would die for you, feed you, clothe you, and love you unconditionally? The question is not who you trust not to lie to you, but who do you trust to take care of you? Who do you trust to save you? Who do you want to live out your life for? The verse contains advice within the implied question: humans are "as frail as breath," and in the end they are of help to no one. It flat out says "Stop putting your trust in mere humans."

So the new question arises of, who should we trust? Well, the answer should be pretty obvious, we trust God. We trust God unconditionally to provide for us, to protect us, to help us, and to love us. God is omnipotent, omniscient, unharmable, perfect, merciful, everlasting, and unchanging. He is everything that a human being can't be and more, and He does not lie. He can be trusted above all things and all people. Put your trust in God, and you'll find that your trust is betrayed much less often.
