This week's devotion is entitled:

Then Samuel said to the people, "Do not fear. You have done all this wickedness; yet do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart. And do not turn aside; for then you would go after empty things which cannot profit or deliver, for they are nothing. For the LORD will not forsake His people, for His great name's sake, because it has pleased the LORD to make you His people.
I read this verse the other day, and it made me think about the people who lose hope and faith when they fall into sin or backslide. Some Christians (especially new Christians) feel like God rejects them when they sin. They feel like "Well, I've sinned now. So I might as well give up." But this is not the attitude God wants us to have. First off, He will forgive us of our sins. Secondly, when you give in to sin, you will only make matters worse for yourself. Like Samuel told the people of Israel, you will begin to long for "empty things" if you take your eyes off of God.
You should always keep up hope and keep your faith in God. When you give up is when you backslide. If you sin, just remember that we are all human and we all make mistakes. But if you confess your sins, God will forgive you:
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Never give up hope and never let Satan win. You can do it, God can help!
