This week's devotion is entitled:

Capture God's Love

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
~John 3:16 (NKJV)

If I could speak in any language in heaven or on earth but didn't love others, I would only be making meaningless noise like a loud gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I knew all the mysteries of the future and knew everything about everything, but didn't love others, what good would I be? And if I had the gift of faith so that I could speak to a mountain and make it move, without love I would be no good to anybody. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn't love others, I would be of no value whatsoever.
~1 Corinthians 13:1-3 (NLT)

There are three things that will endure--faith, hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love.
~1 Corinthians 13:13 (NLT)

Let love be your highest goal
~1 Corinthians 14:1a (NLT)

And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets."
~Matthew 22:37-40 (ESV)

What do all these verses have in common? They are all about love! Love, love, love. Maybe I subconsciously caught this revelation because Valentine's Day is this week, or maybe it is something much deeper.

Lately I have been asking God for a revelation. Something huge, but something that I can communicate to people in my devotions and messages. He answered my prayers in one little tiny loaded word: love. I just heard that word over and over and over again. Love, love, love, love, love! Love God and Love People. He loves us and we should love Him. He loves all people and we should too. He loves us more than we could ever know. His love for us never fails. Any true love never fails. God wants us to remember all of this. These are truths from His word.

If all of the Bible could be summed up into one word, it would be "love." But it would be a deeper sense of the word love. It would be a statement and at the same time a command. It would be easy and at the same time difficult. It would be the love He has for us and the love we have for Him. It would be unconditional and forgiving, merciful and caring.

If you have any questions about what love is, the Bible gives us a clear definition in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a:

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.

God wants you to capture a revelation of just how big godly love is! It can do anything! It conquers all! It never fails! It works miracles! Godly love is HUGE! God wants you to know that this is what He feels for you. He wants you to know that this is what Jesus felt for you, even when He was suffering the worst punishment for our burden of sin.

This week I encourage everyone to find a quiet place and spend some time meditating on how much God loves you. Go in your room, shut the door, turn on some worship music, and begin to praise God for every single thing He has ever done for you. Think of how unworthy you are of all those blessings, and think of how much God must really and truly love you to bless you like that. Capture God's love!
