This week's devotion is entitled:
Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."
I have seen and participated in debates recently on the validity of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Some believe those gifts died with the apostles, some believe only a select few receive those gifts, and others believe they are not real at all. I believe that those gifts are real, alive, and for everyone. So I decided to get some Biblical backing for my belief. The verse above illustrates all of my three points.
~Acts 2:38-39
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that anyone can experience the entire range of spiritual gifts. You must pray, study God's Word, and study yourself to discover what gift(s) you have. Then you must ask God how best you can use that gift(s) to His advantage and to achieve your purpose in this life. You can read more about spiritual gifts and their purpose in 1 Corinthians chapters 12-14.
