That following morning, Micky woke up to a knock on the door. He opened it and Naomi, Sam, and Louise walked in.
"Weren't you just here?" he asked.
"Hours ago, yes. Just wake up?" Sam asked.
"Yes, but I'm going back to sleep." Micky replied.
Sam, Louise, and Naomi went into Elaine's room and closed the door. They sat around Elaine on her bed, "Laney, wake up please." Sam said in a gentle tone.
Elaine was snoring very loudly still. Naomi looked at Sam and said, "We should just let her rest."
"Yeah it's probably better for her to sleep." Sam replied.
Louise bent down and kissed her friend on the forehead. Then they walked out into the livingroom. Micky was lying on the couch with his eyes closed.
"She's still asleep," Sam told Micky.
"Good keep her asleep all day as far as I'm concerned," Micky replied sarcastically.
"You're in a good mood today. What's wrong with you?" Sam asked.
"You three are coming here at 8 am and waking us up. Don't you all sleep?" Micky asked.
"Yes, we slept Micky. But we wanted to take Elaine out today and was hoping she would be up." Sam said.
"Go wake her up then," Micky said. "Or I'm going to my apartment for the day to rest and relax."
"She's pregnant, Micky, and needs all the sleep she can get." Sam said getting irritated at Micky's attitude with them.
"Really? She's pregnant, Sam? Wow, I must have came from planet zulu because I missed that fact." Micky replied.
"You're really a creep today," Louise said walking over to him and smacking him with a book and leaving the apartment.
"Yeah, double for me," Sam replied.
Naomi looked at Micky and said, "You act that way towards my sister and I'll come over here and flatten you with a rolling pin." Naomi walked up to Micky and smacked his face and walked out of the apartment.
"GRRRRRRR" he said in anger at all of them. He was tired and needed to rest too.

That night, Elaine woke up and went into the kitchen. She was still very groggy and sleepy. "Ouch!" she cried out when she fell against the chair. "What on earth is wrong?" Micky asked in anger.
"Nothing!" Elaine said grabbing her drink and walking back into the room. "Nothing you'll ever need to know about."
"Yeah, well maybe I don't want to stay here anymore." Micky said.
"Who needs you here anyway? I don't." Elaine said. "Leave. I really don't care, Micky."
"Fine, maybe I will!" Micky said standing up and grabbing his suitcases and walking out the door. Elaine went into her bedroom and closed the door. She cried herself to sleep that night after trying to take her medications and eat a little something since she slept the whole day.
Back at Micky's apartment, Peter looked at his friend and asked, "You just started screaming at her over nothing?"
"Yes," Micky said sitting in the chair shaking he was so nervous.
"Don't you love her anymore, Micky?" Peter asked shocked that his friend would behave that way.
"Yes, more than ever." Micky replied covering up with a blanket he was so cold.
"What is going on with you man? The Micky I know would never do that to a lady." Peter asked.
"I'm scared to death of being a father, Peter." Micky said looking at his friend. "I'm scared to death that Elaine's going to die in the delivery room or that the babies will be born dead or that one of them is already dead."
"You need to pray about that, Micky, and ask the Lord to help you take those fears out of your head. You need to be positive for Elaine. I'm sure she's terrified as well." Peter said.
"Peter open up the door, it's Naomi." he heard someone say at the door. Peter got up off the couch and walked to the door and opened the door.
"Come inside, Naomi." Peter said smiling at her.
Naomi walked in and saw Micky sitting there. "Left again, huh?" Naomi asked irritated.
"Yeah," Micky replied looking away from her.
"Elaine doesn't deserve you, Micky. She deserves someone who is going to treat her and the babies like they were the most important things on this planet. Not someone who treats her rudely just because he can't deal with his own feelings about things."
"I know," Micky said.
"You know?" Naomi asked irritated even more. "What are you doing to her ignoring her for two weeks when you should be holding her in your arms and cherishing the fact that she's still alive, the babies are still alive, and that she loves you so very much and you are hopelessly in love with her. This bickering crap needs to go."
"I don't know," Micky said reclining the chair back and staring at the ceiling.
"What did you want, Naomi?" Peter asked trying to change the subject.
"Yes, I almost forgot." Naomi replied. "We need you to come over and help us with some stuff on a ladder if you wouldn't mind. Sam is wanting to hang planters on the hooks, but we're all afraid of heights and not wanting to climb that high. And Louise is blurry-eyed and feeling sick tonight after Micky's display towards us earlier."
"What did you do to them earlier, Micky?" Peter asked.
"Oh he didn't tell you, Peter?" Naomi asked. "He basically told all three of us off and where to go."
"You did what?" Peter asked.
"They bothered me at 8 am and I was still groggy and sleepy myself. I got mad and yelled at them too." Micky said.
"You need to attend Elaine's counselor more often." Peter said.
"He doesn't go with Elaine to the meetings, Peter. He chooses to 'forget' about them. Charlotte goes with her sometimes and so have I."
"Naomi, shut up before I come over there and shut you up," Micky said angrily feeling his face turning red from anger.
"Go ahead, Micky. I'll throw you in jail so fast your head will spin." Naomi said. Peter took Naomi into the spare room before a fight broke out and talked to her.
"Just stop arguing with him tonight, please." Peter begged her.
"He started it." Naomi replied.
"Well you're finishing it. Don't talk to him anymore tonight." Peter said grabbing his things and leaving the apartment with her to go and help them. She didn't speak to Micky the rest of that night.
Micky closed his eyes and prayed for forgiveness in his heart. He was still angry and bitter. Although, when a siren drove past the apartments, Micky ran to the porch to look to see where it was going. He looked at Elaine's apartment and it was dark inside and the white shade was in the kitchen window.
He walked back inside and Peter walked in the door. "Where was the siren at?" Micky asked nervously.
"Elaine's," Peter said. "They took her to the hospital."
"What? Why?" Micky asked feeling his heart race.
Peter sat on the couch and his face was pure white. "What's the matter, Peter?" Micky asked. "Please tell me what happened."
"Sam went into Elaine's apartment to check on her and she found her on the bathroom floor hemorrhaging. They all went in the ambulance with Elaine. I came back over here to get a few things and then I'm going to the hospital."
Micky's eyes rolled up in his head and he started to wheeze excruciatingly. He couldn't breathe. Everything around him was spinning in circles around and around and around.
At the hospital that night, a very pale and sick Micky walked in with Peter. Naomi greeted Peter and took him aside to tell him the news. She couldn't care less about Micky knowing anything. "She's fine, Peter, and the babies are fine."
"Praise God for that, Naomi." Peter said.
"Yes, come to find out the hemorrhaging wasn't actually hemorrhaging. She was trying to get pink bubblebath from under the sink to take a bath and it spilled on the floor when she reached for it further and landed on her knees tipping it over. She's fine, just a few bruised knees. But they have ran two ultrasounds on her and she's just fine and the babies are just fine."
"Someone should tell Micky," Peter said. "He's been worried sick since I told him."
"I'm not telling him anything and Sam and Louise refuse to speak to him. They are in Elaine's room praying over her and the babies." Naomi said giving Peter a hug. "What a relief she's okay," Naomi breathed.
"Yes, that's a relief." Peter sighed sitting down as he was feeling light-headed again. Naomi nestled herself in his arms and said, "Thank you, Lord Jesus for saving our best friend." Peter held Naomi in his arms. He didn't dare want to let her go.
Sam and Louise came out into the lobby and Micky looked up at them. "How is she?" he asked.
They both put their hand up to his face and walked away from him. They weren't talking to him. Sam sat down next to Peter and put her head on his shoulder. "That was an exciting evening."
"Micky needs to know the truth girls." Peter said. "He's been very sick from this."
"Good, let him continue to be sick. They're keeping her overnight for observation," Louise replied. "I, however, am going back to the apartment to crash. Elaine will call me if anything changes."
"Yeah, I might go to," Sam said. "She'll be fine tonight. I, however, am going to... to... to..." Sam ran into the bathroom and threw up profusely in the toilet. Her nerves were absolutely shot.
Micky walked over to the hospital room and peeked in the doorway. He opened the door and walked in. "Elaine?" he said softly. "You okay?"
Elaine rolled over onto her left side and stared at him. She didn't say a word. "I'm sorry for my staying away." Micky said. Elaine closed her eyes. She was not acknowledging him whatsoever. He looked at her tummy and tried to feel the babies but she smacked his hands away from her. "Don't touch me or the babies again." she said. "How are they?" he asked. "Are they okay?" "That's my business, not yours." Elaine replied. "Now get out of my room." "Please let me stay in here, Elaine." Micky said. "I'm sorry about what happened. Please just let me stay in here."
Elaine closed her eyes again and covered up with her blankets. She lifted her bed up so she could lie propped up instead of on her side. She did not acknowledge him anymore that entire night. He sat in the chair with his head on the bed. He prayed and prayed for forgiveness from God and from Elaine.
During the night, the Nurse walked in to check Elaine's vitals and the babies on the monitor. Elaine told the Nurse, "I asked him several hours ago to leave and he hasn't. I don't want him in here."
"Okay, Elaine, I'll get him to leave." the Nurse said.
She pushed on his shoulder and said, "Wake up sir, visiting hours are long over with. You need to go in the waiting room."
"But I want to stay here with my girlfriend." Micky said.
"I'm sorry she needs her rest." the Nurse said pulling his arm. Micky looked at Elaine and her eyes were closed. "I love you, Elaine," he said walking out of the room.
When Elaine got to go home the next day, Micky and the girls ended up getting in a fight who was going to take her home. "But I want to take her," Micky said.
"You've done enough already, Micky. We're taking her home," Samantha said angrily at him.
"But I'm her boyfriend." Micky said.
"Not anymore, you're not!" Elaine said out of spite and hurt.
"Excuse me?" Micky asked looking at her.
Elaine got out of the wheelchair and into Sam's car. They drove off. Micky was distraught, tired, frustrated, and absolutely exhausted.
"Come on Micky," Peter said taking his friend to the car.

After a month of Elaine not talking to Micky, and she was attending Doctor's appointments with her girlfriends instead of Micky, the doctor one day asked Elaine. "Where is the father of the babies?"
"We're not speaking and haven't been in over a month." Elaine replied.
"Well, I think you need to start, Elaine. You're almost on seven months now and you will really need him. Plus, you haven't even done lamaze classes yet."
"I will do them with my girlfriends who are going to be my birthing coaches," Elaine replied.
"No, I want the father of the babies involved in this," the doctor said adamantly. "What is his number and I will phone him directly to talk to him. You need him around whether you want to admit it or not. Plus you're going on bedrest soon until delivery and you will need all the support system you can get."
"I'm going on what?" Elaine asked.
"Bedrest." The doctor replied. "You're high-risk with twins and you're blood pressure has been slightly elevated recently and I'm having you on bedrest the last month of your pregnancy."
"But my job won't like that," Elaine said anxiously.
"They have to abide by my wishes, Elaine, and I want no more repeats of hospital stays because you're alone in that house." the doctor said.
Elaine put her head back against the cushion of the exam table and sighed. She couldn't argue anymore. She was tired of arguing. Samantha, who was in the room at the time with her friend, wrote down Micky's phone number and gave it to the doctor.
"Thank you, Sam." the doctor said. "This ends today, Elaine. You are doing this for not only yourself, but the babies."
"Yeah, yeah," Elaine moaned angrily. "Fine, whatever."
After the doctor's office visit, Sam took Elaine to get breakfast since she had to wait to eat due to more blood tests. "I hate to admit it, but she's right. You two need to be doing this for the babies and get over the stubbornness you both share."
"Just shut up, Sam. Please." Elaine said angrily looking out the window as Sam was driving the car.

Back at Micky's, the phone rang and Peter picked it up, "Hello."
"Yes, Mr. Dolenz please. This is Dr. Annabelle, Elaine's medical doctor." Peter heard in the phone.
Peter quickly handed the phone to Micky and said, "It's Elaine's Doctor."
"What?" Micky asked shocked. He took the phone, "Hello."
"Yes, is this Micky?"
"Yes it is." Micky replied.
"This is Dr. Annabelle, Elaine's doctor. Elaine had her seventh month checkup this morning and I told her that you would be contacted since you are the father of the babies. I want you and her to be in lamaze classes starting next week every Monday night for the next month to two months. I also want you to be associating with her more. Her blood pressure is slightly elevated and you need to be there for her and the babies. I understand there has been hard feelings between you two. That ends today, got it?"
"Yes," Micky said.
"Good. I am enrolling both of you in lamaze classes and I will be asking if the attendance has been met by both of you. I don't like getting involved personally, but for Elaine's sake and the fact that she is a high-risk pregnancy and will be going on strict bedrest her ninth month of pregnancy, I will. You call her today and go over there. Bring her flowers or something. I understand she loves white roses. Have a good day, sir." The phone went dead.
Micky grabbed his keys and flew out the door. He immediately went to a flower shop and bought Elaine a dozen white roses and a card. He was not going to let this opportunity escape him since he has wanted to see her for a long time. He would do anything for her.
After their breakfast they returned home to the apartment parking lot and Micky's car was in the driveway. "Wow, she called him immediately," Samantha said shocked.
"Yeah Dr. Annabelle doesn't waste any time." Elaine said. "I hate this plan, but it's for the babies."
"Yes, it is." Sam said smiling at her friend.
They got out of the car and Micky met them at the car door. "Let me help you, please." he said. Samantha smiled at him and opened up the building door for everyone.
"Just so you know, I'm only doing this for the babies," Elaine said. "Doctor Annabelle is very adamant about this."
"Yes, she phoned me already." Micky said. "She sounds like a lovely woman."
Before Elaine sat down, she took her prenatal vitamins and her iron pills. She also went into the bathroom to shower since she felt she needed refreshing.
Micky sat on the couch and Sam sat next to him. "I must say I agree with the Doctor, you need to be around her."
"Thanks Sam." Micky replied. "How was her appointment?"
"Her blood pressure is slightly elevated and since her fall, she has a hard time with her knees now, but she's not allowed to bend over anymore, not even sitting on the toilet. We had to re-do her bathroom so that everything was at eye level."
"Why didn't anyone call me to help?" Micky asked.
"She didn't want to bother you." Sam replied. "Peter helped with most of it. He's been absolutely tremendous to all of us and especially Naomi who is still in distress about things."
"Why is Naomi distressing, Sam?" Micky asked.
"Didn't Peter tell you?" Sam asked.
"No, Peter hasn't told me anything about him and Naomi." Micky said.
"Well, you need to talk to Peter then, Micky. I'm not getting involved." Sam replied walking to the kitchen and getting a Coca-Cola.
"Where is Naomi anyway? I haven't seen her at the apartment recently either." Micky asked.
"You really must talk to Peter, Micky. I am not getting involved in it, honestly." Sam replied.
Elaine walked out of her bedroom in her pajamas and carried her smaller body pillow to the couch. "I just love these," she said to Sam.
"I'm glad." Sam replied.
"Where's Nay, Nay?" Elaine asked. "I miss her."
"She'll be back in a few days." Sam said.
"Where is she, Sam?" Micky asked.
"I told you to talk to Peter, Micky." Sam replied.
Elaine curled up on the couch with her body pillow and breathed a sigh of relief melting into it. "My tummy is getting bigger and bigger almost daily now." she said.
"Yes, it sure is." Sam replied taking a sip of her coke.
"Give me one. I'm so thirsty." Elaine said. "I can have one a month."
"Elaine Nelson, you had one last night, remember at the pizza dinner." Sam said.
"Please, please, Sam. It's my 7th month congratulations." Elaine begged her friend.
"Fine, but if the babies have problems, not my fault." Sam replied.
"They won't. I've been really good." Elaine said. Sam walked a Coca-Cola over to Elaine and handed one to Micky. "You wish for me to take the roses now?" Sam asked.
"Oh yes, sorry, they are for Elaine." Micky said.
"Yeah, I kind of figured that, Micky." Samantha said smirking as she took the roses from him.
"Ahhhhh," Elaine said cracking open the pop and taking a sip.
"I want Nay Nay, Sam." Elaine said rolling onto her left side looking at her friend.
"I know, we all miss her, Laney. She'll be back in a few days." Sam replied.
"Hello again, where is Naomi?" Micky asked not knowing what was happening.
Sam sat on the chair next to Elaine and Micky and said, "Fine, I'll tell you. She flew back to Massachusetts."
"For what?" Micky asked.
"Private business," Elaine replied. "We miss Nay Nay."
"That's why she hasn't been around then," Micky asked.
"You're a genius." Elaine said mocking Micky.
"That must explain why Peter's always there and never leaves." Micky said.
"He's waiting for her phone call because then he'll be leaving too." Sam said.
"Would someone please explain to me what is going on?" Micky asked.
"Peter will have to do that, Micky. We're staying out of it." Sam replied.
Just then there was a knock on the door. Micky walked to the door and opened it. "Peter! We were just talking about you."
"That's nice, Micky. Hey girls, she just called and I'm on the next flight out." Peter gasped. "I wanted to run over and tell you before leaving."
"Be careful, Peter. Especially with her emotional state." Elaine warned. "Nay Nay says things she doesn't mean at times."
"Tell me what's happening, Peter." Micky said closing the door after Peter walked inside the apartment.
"I wish I could go, but I can't fly." Elaine said.
"Hello?" Micky said getting more annoyed at everyone dodging his questions. "Peter, what is going on?" Micky asked.
Peter sat next to Sam and Sam gave him a Coca-Cola. "Drink to calm your nerves, sir."
"I can't believe she called. It's as if I haven't ever met her before. My tummy is in knots." Peter said.
"Peter, darnit! Tell me what's happening," Micky said sitting down and stomping his foot.
"We're getting married! I'm meeting her parents for the first time. They are wanting to arrange absolutely everything."
"In one month's time you're getting married?" Micky asked confused.
"Yes, isn't it great!" Peter asked joyfully.
Peter looked at the clock and finished his Coca-Cola. "Well, it's off to the airport. I'm going to leave my car there and then we'll be able to drive home when we return."
"You're getting married in Massachusetts?" Micky asked.
"No, yes, no, yes, I don't know. Micky." Peter said. He gave the girls a hug and kiss and felt Elaine's babies. "Goodnight little ones. Sam, I'll call you the moment I know something."
"Okay, we'll be here, Peter." Sam replied.
Peter gave Micky a hug and handshake and then flew out the apartment door. Micky gave the weirdest expression to the girls full of confusion, daze, and complete and total lost.
"He is rushing to Massachusetts to meet her parents. He never said a word to me about any of it. I am so lost these past few months." Micky said lying down on the couch as his head was starting to spin.
Sam kissed Elaine and said, "I have to go tell Louise. She'll be so excited. Is she out with Davy today?"
"What day is today? Saturday?" Elaine asked.
"Yes, she's out with Davy today. They go on their mountain trail walking path today. Then he takes her to see their old studio. It's their Saturday ritual." Elaine said.
"Even you know Davy's schedule and I have no clue," Micky said rolling over onto his side. He was so behind the times.
"Maybe if you didn't be mean to people, they would tell you things, Micky." Elaine said stretching out her legs and then relaxing them on the body pillow again.
Sam gave Elaine a kiss and ran out of the apartment. Elaine sighed and said, "Pregnant mommies everywhere. Isn't it beautiful!"
Micky lifted his head and asked, "What?"
"Nothing," Elaine replied. "I was talking to myself."
"Naomi is pregnant?" Micky asked.
"I said I was talking to myself, Micky." Elaine said closing her eyes and smiling. She loved Nay Nay and was so happy for her and Peter.
"Yikes!" Micky said collapsing back on the couch. He felt like he was in a different time zone.
________________________
A week later, Naomi and Peter returned home. Elaine was ecstatic as she eagerly awaited their arrival at the airport. Sam, Louise, Micky, Davy, and Mike were all gathered there waiting. Micky still didn't have a clue as to what was happening, but when they included him on the ride to the airport, he did not decline.
"There they are!" Elaine screamed, "Nay Nay, Nay Nay!" Naomi ran up to her friends and said, "Hello my beautiful friends."
Naomi looked so different to Micky for some unknown reason. He didn't know why.
Peter greeted all of his friends and said, "Hello, gentlemen."
Micky looked at Naomi and couldn't notice anything different about her tummy at least.
"She's been yelling Nay Nay for two hours while we've been waiting for you." Samantha said.
"I've missed you too, Laney. I brought presents from my parents to everyone." They sat in the lobby of the airport while Naomi passed out presents. She saw Micky standing there and walked up to him. "I heard you were back now. It's about time! This is from my father. He adamantly said you must have it." She kissed Micky on the cheek.
"Thanks," Micky said opening up the package and it was a package full of cigars that were actually gum that said boys and girls on them. He smiled and said, "Please tell your father thank you, Naomi."
"I will," Naomi said walking around to her friends passing out the other gifts.
"Sam give Nay Nay our presents." Elaine said excitedly.
Sam got in her bag she was carrying and said, "Here, Laney and I want you to have this early. She wants to be twins."
Elaine clapped as Naomi opened it. It was the same pajama set that Elaine had that said, "New Mommy-To-Be" on it.
"Awww, Peter, look at this." Naomi said holding it up over her. "Thank you ladies. I love it."
"No, we love it," Peter said walking up to Naomi and giving her a hug.
"So it is true?" Micky asked.
