Chapter 7

After their day of sleeping through the alarms, Elaine woke up to use the bathroom and found Micky hugging her tummy again.

"You need to stop that, Micky," Elaine said walking towards the bathroom and his arms practically falling off the bed.

"What?" he asked.

"Holding onto my tummy like that. One of these days you're hands are going to get crushed." Elaine said.

There was a knock on their front door. "Who in the world is that? Micky get it please." Elaine called out from the bathroom.

Micky walked to the door and opened it.

"Good morning lovebirds, let's all go to breakfast" Samantha, Louise, and Naomi said walking in with Peter, Mike, and Davy.

"She hates surprises you guys. You know this." Micky said closing the door.

"Laney, get dressed. We're all going for breakfast," Naomi said walking into Elaine's bedroom.

"Naomi, who is 'we'?" Elaine asked.

"All of us. Get dressed." Naomi replied

"Isn't it afternoon time?" Elaine asked.

"Yes, it is. But Mike and Peter know this great 24-hour breakfast place that they want to take us to." Naomi said finding Elaine an outfit to put on. "Here, this should fit." Naomi handed her friend an outfit at the bathroom door.

"What does Micky say about this?" Elaine asked.

"He's fine with it." Naomi replied smiling at Micky. He held up his pointer finger at her and walked away. Micky did not like people putting words into his mouth.

Elaine put on the outfit Naomi handed to her and sat on the bed to tie her shoes. Then she walked to the livingroom and said, "I guess if everyone wants to go, we can."

"Great!" Mike said. "The Monkeemobile awaits."

"You got the Monkeemobile?" Micky asked.

"Yes, we borrowed it to show the girls." Mike said.

"And are you wanting a stampede, Mike?" Micky asked.

"Nah, no one even recognized us." Mike replied.

Micky looked at Elaine and said, "If you don't want to go, we don't have to."

"It will be fun. I'm starving anyway and need to take my prenatal vitamins." Elaine said.

Micky sighed as he was very outnumbered. He was also very nervous about Elaine going into labor. "When is your next session at therapy?" he asked.

"Tomorrow night, why?" Elaine asked sitting in the backseat of the Monkeemobile.

"I have drum lessons tomorrow night I'm afraid." Micky said.

"That's fine. I'll get Charlotte to go with me. Oh wait, she's on holiday with her family until Saturday of next week."

"I'll go with ya Laney." Naomi said. "I'm not flying back till Tuesday."

"Really?" Elaine asked.

"Yep." Naomi replied.

"I thought you didn't have any time left." Elaine asked the three friends.

"We don't. We're technically here on business," Samantha said.

"How come?" Elaine asked.

"Laney, it's a surprise and we're not going to ruin it." Louise said.

"Don't tell me you're all moving out here." Elaine asked.

"Yes," Samantha said.

"We will definitely be here by October 1st." Louise said.

When they pulled up into the restaurant parking lot, Micky said, "No way. We are not eating here." "Why not?" Mike asked. "Darnell is here and he's the one that insulted Elaine." Micky said. "He is?" Mike asked. "I don't recall you mentioning that before." "Why would he, Mike. It's our own private business." Elaine snapped at him. "Uh, okay then. We can go to another place." Mike said.

"No way!" Naomi said getting out of the car. "I'm going to give Darnell a piece of my mind." "No fights, Naomi!" Samantha said getting out of the car running behind her friend. Naomi walked into the restaurant and Mike, Peter, and Davy followed behind. Micky and Elaine sat quietly in the car. Louise walked in the restaurant and found the others. "I said I want to speak to Darnell." Naomi said louder than before. "I'm Darnell." a guy walked out from behind the doors. "How may I help you?" "Oh hey, Mike, Peter, and Davy. Who are the foxy chicks you have with?" "They are our friends, Darnell. You insulted their friend when she was in here with Micky." "Oh yes, the redhead. She was a knockout." "I'll knock you out," Naomi said punching Darnell in the face and walking to the door. "No one ever treats my friend and sister like that, ever. We will no longer be coming to this establishment and I will tell everyone I know to avoid this place like the plague!" Naomi screamed and walked out the door. Peter walked out behind Naomi and yelled at her outside the door. "Don't you ever do that again." "I will stand up for my sister since no one else did." Naomi replied looking directly at Micky. "What did she do, Peter?" Micky asked. "She sent Darnell to the floor with a lovely right hook." Peter replied. Elaine smiled and smiled. She was shouting inside her head, "Go Naomi!" Mike, Davy, Louise and Samantha all walked out to the car and got inside. "Well, that was totally embarrassing." Sam said.

Peter grabbed Naomi's arm and said, "Get inside the car."

"Fine," Naomi replied. "But I did what was right."

"God says you do not fight evil with evil, Naomi. That was not right." Samantha said looking back at her friend.

"Well I wouldn't of had to do anything had Micky taken care of it when it happened." Naomi said.

"Micky handled it just fine, Naomi. He made God proud." Elaine said taking Micky's hand in hers and giving it a kiss.

"Thank you, Elaine." Micky said.

"You're welcome." Elaine replied.

"Well, for me, it was right." Naomi said folding her arms and waiting for them to go to the next restaurant.

"I'm still sleepy," Elaine yawned and stretched out.

Micky put his hand on her tummy again and felt the baby kick. "Did that hurt?" he asked.

"Nope, not at all." Elaine replied. "I think he's just waking up too."

"When is your next doctor's appt, Elaine?" Naomi asked.

"Um Saturday morning. They are going to give me my 3-hour postprandials test and another ultrasound." Elaine replied.

"A week from today?" Micky asked.

"Yep, 8am." Elaine said.

"I'll be there for the appointment, Elaine." Micky said smiling at her.

"That will be so great, Micky," Elaine replied. "We are going to be parents."

"I still can't believe it," Micky said.

"Me neither actually." Elaine replied.

After their breakfast, they all went back to Elaine's apartment to hang out. Elaine curled up on the couch next to Micky while everyone else gathered around on the other furniture and floor.

Pretty soon, Micky heard Elaine's snoring and told the rest of the gang, "It's louder than normal now, but she's fine."

"Yes, we know, Micky. She's our beautiful friend." Naomi replied. "Although she shouldn't be lying down after eating, but I will allow it today."

Sam smiled at Louise and then they two giggled. Naomi was a mother hen at times, just like the other two of them.

"Have you thought of names yet, Micky?" Louise asked.

"Nope, not that far yet." Micky replied.

"Is it even a boy or girl or does she not know yet?" Louise asked.

"I think we're thinking it's a boy, but we're not exactly for sure." Micky replied.

Peter wrapped his arms around Naomi and said, "One day, Naomi and I want to start a family."

"Peter!" Naomi said shocked. "That's private."

"We're all amongst friends my darlin." Peter replied.

"IF and I mean IF that time happens, Peter, that will be a long time away." Naomi said.

"I know once we're married." Peter replied smiling at the guys.

"What is that look for, Peter?" Davy asked curiously.

"Nothing." Peter replied. Naomi lifted her head up at him and asked, "What did you do?"

"Nothing, honestly, Naomi." Peter answered back to her.

Naomi closed her eyes and heard Elaine's snoring. "She really is loud now." she said.

"Yes, she is." Samantha replied. "Partly due to the baby as well."

~~~~~~~~~~
The week flew by and Friday night came. Micky took Elaine out for a nice dinner, just the two of them. Then they went back to the apartment and he gave her a nice leg and back massage. Then they fell asleep on the couch together after Elaine had set the alarm for her appointment in the morning. She had to be up at 6 am to be ready and at the doctor's at 8.
In the morning, Elaine woke up at 6 am when her alarm went off and Micky was still sound asleep. "Come on papa, you need to get ready as well if you're going to the appointment with me." Elaine said pulling on his shirt.
Micky yawned as he opened his eyes. "Sleep longer. We've got plenty of time." he said.
"No, we don't. It takes me a while to get ready now, Micky. You use the spare bathroom and get ready, and I'll be out in an hour. I can't eat anything before the appointment. However, I do need to take my prenatal vitamins."
While Elaine was in the shower, Micky ran over to his apartment to quickly shower and shave. Then he ran back over to Elaine's before she even realized what he had done. He also brought a duffle bag of clothes as well if he stayed over that night too.
The girls were back in Massachusetts making their final packing up/selling the house, etc..., to move to California and live in Elaine's apartment complex. They got new jobs, new homes, and will have new lives in California. They were ecstatic about living close to their friend again, especially with the baby coming and all.
After the appointment at the doctor's office, Micky and Elaine sat in the car for the longest time in silence. "What are we going to do?" Elaine asked.
"The very best that we possibly can, Elaine." Micky replied.
They headed back to Elaine's apartment when her cell phone went off. Elaine picked it up, "Hello?"
"Laney, how was your appointment? What did you find out? This is Sam by the way."
"Sam?" Elaine asked confused.
"Laney, what's wrong?" Sam asked. "Put Micky on the phone."
Elaine handed the phone to Micky and said, "Here."
Micky pulled into a parking lot and shut the car off. "Hello Sam?"
"How was her appointment, Micky?" Sam asked.
"Um well, it was very informative to say the least." Micky replied swallowing hard and looking at Elaine's horrified look.
"Is something wrong, Micky?" Sam asked. "We'll be back out there in another week."
"Um well, I don't know if you would say something was wrong, Sam." Micky said stammering.
"What is it then?" Sam asked.
Elaine released the seat back and laid down as she was feeling lightheaded.
"Um well, Sam. She's not having one baby." Micky said.
"She's having more than one?" Sam asked.
"Yes." Micky replied. "I have to go now. Goodbye." Micky hung up the phone and started the car again.
Elaine slept on the way back to the apartment while Micky was half in a daze as well. When he pulled into the parking lot, he shut the car off and released his seat and laid down as well. He couldn't believe it. They were having twins. He was ecstatic but also terrified.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Back in Massachusetts, Sam told the girls, "She's apparently having more than one baby."

"What?" Naomi asked. "Why didn't they find that out earlier?"

"Don't know. Maybe she wasn't far enough along or something to tell, I don't know," Sam replied. "Micky couldn't talk straight and neither could Elaine. They're in shock too."

"We'll call them tonight to make sure everything is okay," Naomi said putting the rest of her things in boxes.

After waking up in the car, Micky and Elaine walked into her apartment and closed the door. "Twins." Elaine said sitting on the couch and massaging her tummy.

"That's beautiful, Elaine." Micky said sitting down beside her rubbing her tummy.

"And they did say both babies were fine, right?" Elaine asked Micky.

"Yes, they said both babies heartrates were really good and so was their growth pattern." Micky said.

"That whole appointment is a blur to me," Elaine replied.

"I'm sorry," Micky said giving her a kiss on the cheek trying to reassure her everything would be okay.

"That might explain my extra leg swelling then," Elaine said lifting up her legs and showing him her ankles.

"Maybe." Micky replied. "I'm new to this myself, so I have no idea."

"How am I going to handle two babies?" Elaine asked.

"It will be a new learning experience for the both of us, Elaine." Micky replied.

~~~~~~~~~
Sam looked at Naomi and asked, "Why do we have to go out tonight one last time?"
"Because I want to tour the city one last time before we leave this week." Naomi replied.
"I wanted to check up on Elaine and Micky." Sam said angrily.
"I called Peter and him and the guys will go over there to make sure they're okay. Then they will call me on the cell and tell me." Naomi replied.
Louise walked out of the bathroom and said, "We're going to Damian's Pizza whether you like it or not."
"Fine, fine, as long as we go to the park for one last walk." Naomi replied.
Sam just went with the flow, for she didn't want to make waves with any of her friends.
~~~~~~~

After an hour passed by, there was a knock on the door. Micky walked to the door and opened it. "Pizza's here," Peter said walking in with two pizzas and a 12-pack of Coca-Cola with Mike and Davy following behind with a 12-pack of 7-up and Dr. Pepper.

"What's the occasion?" Elaine asked.

"Naomi called and wanted us to check up on you two because they were going out for one last time on the town before heading out here to live permanently." Peter replied. "So let's eat everyone."

"I'll fix you a plate, Elaine." Micky said.

"Thanks, Micky." Elaine replied kicking her feet up on the couch and taking a huge breath in and releasing it. Micky dished Elaine up a plate full of pizza and then carried her back the plate and some 7-up. "Thank you," she said as he handed her the plate.

"You're welcome." Micky replied sitting down next to her with his plate of food.

"So you two, tell us how your appointment was today at the doctor's," Mike said.

Elaine started coughing as she bit into her pizza when he asked that. Micky patted Elaine's back and told the guys, "We're going to have twins."

"Really?" Peter asked shocked.

"Yes," Micky replied. "We found out today, she has twins."

"Congratulations, you two," Davy said smiling at them.

"Thanks," Micky replied. Elaine was still coughing a little when she took a sip of her drink. She missed her Coca-Cola, but had to limit her intake of it now that she was pregnant.

Micky looked at Elaine and asked, "You okay?"

"Yes, went down the wrong way, that's all." Elaine replied.

~~~~~~~
Back in Massachusetts, the girls went to Damian's Pizza for dinner and then took one last drive around the town making the park the very last spot that they stopped.
"Wow, has it always been this dark and eerie here at night?" Samantha asked.
"It's late and we're generally not here this late." Naomi replied.
"Maybe we shouldn't go for a walk. I mean, I don't trust it here." Louise said.
"Yeah, I thought we would, but after seeing how dark and eerie it is, let's just pass." Naomi said.
"Fine by me," Samantha said. "Let's go to the arcade instead."
"Okay," Naomi said smiling. She loved the arcade.
The girls went to the all-night video arcade place and had the time of their lives. When Naomi's phone rang at 3 am and she picked it up happily, "Hello,"
Peter said to her, "What on earth are you all out doing?"
"We're at the all-night video arcade." Naomi said laughing hysterically. "And I'm losing at Pacman. Where are you at?"
"We're still at Micky and Elaine's. Elaine wants to talk to you for a minute." Peter said.
"Okay," Naomi replied laughing hysterically. Peter handed the phone to Elaine and said, "It's Naomi."
"Naomi, it's me, Laney."
"Hello Laney, my prego friend, how are you?" Naomi asked and then laughed.
"Excuse me?" Elaine asked.
"Sorry, we're at the all-night video arcade and I'm losing bigtime to Sam at Pacman."
"Really? Must be nice to be out at an all-night video arcade. Call me later on in the morning then. Goodnight!" Elaine said hanging up the phone.
"Laney, wait. I'm here," Naomi said standing up and having Louise take her place. Naomi got the dialtone and then called Peter's phone back.
"I refuse to talk to her when she sounds absolutely drunk." Elaine said.
"She doesn't drink, Elaine. They're just enjoying their one last night before moving out here," Peter said. "Hello," he said answering his phone.
"She hung up on me, Peter. What's the matter with her?" Naomi asked.
"Hang on," Peter said handing the phone back to Elaine.
"Go and play your games. Call me tomorrow." Elaine said.
"Wait, Laney, I want to talk to you. I'm standing outside right now. What's wrong?" Naomi asked.
"Nothing. Goodnight," Elaine said hanging up the phone again. "If she calls back, I am unavailable. Got it?" Elaine walked into her bedroom and closed the door.
Naomi walked back into the arcade and said, "We should go now. It is really late."
"Yeah, we should." Samantha replied. "This was so much fun though. What did Laney want?"
"She hung up on me because I was laughing." Naomi replied. "She probably thinks I'm drunk or something and she's mad at me."
"Call her tomorrow then," Louise replied.
"Today is tomorrow, Louise." Naomi said.
"Well call her later today then, Naomi." Louise said climbing into the car after Sam.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Micky let the guys camp out in the livingroom since it was so late and he didn't want them driving. He went into Elaine's room and she was lying on the bed. "You want to talk about it?" he asked.

"No, I'm tired and want to sleep. Goodnight Micky." Elaine said.

"Goodnight, Elaine." Micky replied. "I'm going to crash out here with the guys too."

"Fine," Elaine said. "Goodnight."

"Night," Micky replied giving her a gentle kiss on the forehead and kissing her tummy with the babies inside. Micky went out to the airbed in the livingroom and crawled under the covers. Peter was already out like a light snoring away; Mike was on the back couch snoring away; while Davy was on the other couch snoring away. It was one big giant snoring festival in Elaine's livingroom.

Elaine laid in the bed staring at the ceiling. She couldn't believe Naomi and the girls wanting to 'live it up' on their last night there. Here she was almost five months pregnant and she had twins inside her. She was frightened very much. As she was lying there staring at the ceiling, a shadow formed on her window. Her body froze. She wasn't dare going to move or make a sound. She laid there making sure her head was covered with only her eyes peeking out. Then she saw a bird fly off her window and the shadow was gone. She breathed a sigh of relief because her fears were on overtime.

She lay there quietly praying in her private prayer language and then fell asleep very peacefully after massaging her tummy as she was praying over her little babies inside her. She hadn't been faithful in prayer recently and that made her sad. She needed to get back right with the Lord and she would.

She also wanted Micky to be baptised in the Church along with the babies once they were born. She wanted a strong, Christian, family. She knew Micky was still learning in his faith as well, so she took that into consideration; however, she wanted a strong, Christian, family with lots of grace at the table and lots of prayer in morning and at night.

That following morning, Elaine woke up crying out in her private prayer language. The guys in the livingroom asked Micky, "What is she saying?"

"She's praying," Micky replied. "She has a special way of praying. She's fine."

"Never heard of anyone pray like that before, Micky," Mike said.

"I know, I hadn't either till I met her. It's her special way of praying, so just go back to sleep."

"Is she possessed?" Mike asked. "Seems a little creepy to me."

"No, she is not possessed, Mike. Please go back to sleep." Micky reassured his friend. When Elaine came out of her bedroom still praying, Micky said, "Elaine please. You are frightening the guests."

Elaine looked at Micky and said, "This is my house and I will pray as much as I want. I told you it's my special prayer." Micky climbed out of his bed and walked up to her whispering, "They think you're possessed."

"Because they are unwise to things, Micky. That is not my fault." Elaine replied getting herself a nice Coca-Cola and leftover pizza going back to her room and closing the door. She was still praying.

Micky sheepishly looked at his friends and said, "You heard the lady, it's her house and it's a special prayer."

Mike smirked at Micky and then layed back down. Peter smiled at Micky because he understood Elaine to a "T", although no one would know that he did. Micky breathed out a breath and went back to the airbed and went back to sleep. Elaine was right. It was 'her' house and she could do what she wanted.

That afternoon after the guys had left, Elaine appeared in the livingroom with her prayer books, Bibles, and two blankets. "Micky," she said.

"Yes dear," he replied walking over to her.

"Sit down please, I want us to have a bible study now." Elaine said.

"Okay," Micky said taking a seat next to her on the couch and covering up with a blanket.

Elaine explained to Micky how she had been feeling since finding out she was pregnant with twins and Micky smiled saying, "You know, something in my heart told me joining your Church would be a great thing for me. Are you going back to teaching Sunday School class anytime soon?"

"No, I'm not going back anytime soon, Micky. However, I am going to go back attending Sunday worship and I would very much like for you to attend weekly with me if you don't have a drum lesson or anything." Elaine replied.

"Um Elaine, actually I am taking a leave from teaching drums until after the babies are born." Micky said. "I didn't want to tell you because I didn't want to upset you."

"What made you decide to take a leave, Micky?" Elaine asked curiously.

"I want to be at every doctor's appointment with you, Elaine. I want us to share in everything about this pregnancy and the babies together." Micky said.

"Awwww, Micky, that is so romantic and sweet! Thank you so much!" Elaine said giving him a kiss on the cheek. "You didn't have to do that, but it was very sweet of you."

"You're welcome, Elaine! I love you so much." Micky said kissing her cheek this time.

"May I ask you one teensy favor, Micky?" Elaine asked.

"Sure anything." Micky replied.

"Since you're completely giving your life over to the Lord by joining our beautiful church, how would you also like to be baptised as well?" Elaine asked.

"I would like that very much, Elaine." Micky said. "I want the knowledge that you and your friends have spiritually. There is just something about you and them that is so different that I cannot even express it into words."

"Sisterhood?" Elaine asked.

"Yes, kind of." Micky replied. "Kind of like me and the guys being 'brothers'."

"Exactly," Elaine said smiling at him.

The two went into a very detailed Bible study and Elaine shared more about her special prayer with him as well. She felt so happy. After their spending most of the afternoon in bible studies and prayer sessions, Elaine curled up in Micky's arms and he prayed for her and the babies and their relationship, then they went to sleep very peacefully that night.
