Back at the house, Naomi woke up to banging on the door, "Naomi, open up, it's me Peter," she heard screaming at her.
Naomi slowly walked to the door and opened it, "What it is Peter? We are sleeping."
"Why are you all sleeping? I thought you would have called me last night after my message I left you during the week." he scolded.
"We wanted to have a quiet night just us girls last night Peter. And we had a deep prayer session as well, and that's why we're still sleeping. What is the problem?" Naomi asked groggily.
"Well the problem is my grandmother passed away and my supposed girlfriend couldn't even come to the visitation and funeral like I said on my message. That's the problem Naomi." Peter snapped at her.
"Funeral? I don't remember your message saying there was a funeral." Naomi replied.
"Well it did and if you would at least show one iota of a care about me and my family as to what you show these girlfriends of yours, maybe I wouldn't be so mad at you right now." Peter demanded.
"Come inside Peter and let me get my phone. I want to verify the message." Naomi replied.
"I don't want to come inside" Peter snapped. "I want to know why my girlfriend wasn't there with me when I needed her the most?"
Naomi replied, "Please come inside Peter. Let me check my message again. We will discuss it in just a minute."
Peter sat on the couch and wanted to kick the girls sleeping in front of him. He was so mad at Naomi he could spit.
Naomi called her voicemail and then listened to Peter's message again. She started to cry as she heard it. It was everything that Peter had just told her and she wasn't there for him. "Oh my goodness!" Naomi said to herself.
She walked out into the living room and looked at Peter, "I'm so sorry Peter. I must have listened to it wrong or something the first time. Work has been absolutely insane this past week."
"Well that's just tough cookies, now isn't it Naomi? Thanks a lot for caring about me and my family! I had to explain to them that I had no clue where my supposed girlfriend was and that was absolutely horrible." Peter snapped.
Naomi tried to put her arms around him to give him a hug and he backed away from her saying, "I can't be around you anymore Naomi. Someone who is as insensitive as you were in what I was going through is not what I consider a good friend."
"I'm so sorry Peter. I did not mean to hurt you or your family. I was just so busy with work and I must have heard your message wrong the first time."
"Well you won't have to worry about it any longer, as I do not ever want to see you again." Peter said as he slammed the door behind himself after walking out.
Louise and Samantha sat up and said, "What the heck?"
Naomi sat in the chair and cried and cried. She felt so badly at what she had done.
"What's wrong Naomi?" Louise asked as she crawled over to her friend sitting in the chair.
"Peter's grandmother died and I wasn't even there for him for the visitation and funeral. He left me a message and I never returned his call. He hates me now and broke up with me," Naomi cried.
"I'm so sorry sweetie," Louise said as she hugged her friend so tight.
"I can't believe I heard the message wrong the other day. And all because of work being so crazy." Naomi cried out again.
"Give him time to calm down Naomi," Samantha said trying to smile at her friend. "He's probably just lashing out at you right now. I'm sure once he calms down things might be a little different."
"And if they're not?" Naomi asked with tears in her eyes.
"One day at a time sweetie," Louise told her friend.
Naomi walked back into her room and closed the door. She fell on her bed, wrapped her arms around her teddybear, and cried and cried. She felt so miserable.

Back at the pad, Peter walked inside and slammed the door. "Talk to her?" Davy asked.
"Yeah she was asleep. I woke her up. She apparently heard my message wrong the other night. Apparently her work was crazy and that messed her mind up or something." Peter snapped.
"Do you believe her?" Davy asked. "She wasn't there for me when I needed her the most. I cannot be with someone who cannot be there for me." Peter snapped. "I broke up with her."
"Don't you think that was a little rash even for you, Pete?" Mike asked looking up from his newspaper.
"At this point in time, I think it's the perfect thing to do. And I would appreciate it if you all didn't mention her name to me again!" Peter demanded as he walked into his room and slammed the door.
"Whoa!" Davy said to Mike.
"Give him some space and hopefully he'll come around. He's going through an emotional rollercoaster right now." Mike replied.
Mike stood up and went to Peter's door and knocked. "Shotgun, can I come in for a minute?" he asked.
"Don't call me that again. I hate that name." Peter snapped back.
Mike opened Peter's door and walked inside. "Want to talk about it?" Mike asked a deeply wounded Peter.
"No I do not Mike. Please just leave me alone, ok?" Peter asked trying to calm himself down.
"Okay. Well you know where I'm at if you need me." Mike replied.
"Thanks." Peter said back.
Mike left Peter's room and went back to the living room to sit back down on the couch. "Well?" Davy asked.
"He's starting to calm down and just wants to be left alone." Mike replied.
Peter picked up his phone and called Micky's number.
"Hello" Micky said picking up his phone.
"When are you coming home Micky? This is Peter."
"Not until tomorrow. Why? What's the matter Peter?" Micky asked concerned.
"I know you had plans with Elaine for this weekend. But I need someone to talk to. I just broke up with Naomi for not coming to my grandmother's visitation and funeral. Is there any way you can come and meet me for a drink or something? I need you Micky." Peter started to cry out to his friend.
Micky looked at Elaine and Elaine asked, "What is it Micky?"
Micky put the phone down and whispered to Elaine, "It's Peter. He's extremely upset about Naomi not going to his grandmother's visitation and funeral and he broke up with her this morning. He's really down and needs someone to talk to."
"Micky, you there?" Peter asked anxiously.
"Yeah Peter. I'm sorry I was just telling Elaine that I was going to meet you for a few drinks." he said. "You want to come down to the hotel we're staying at and we can talk in the restaurant?"
"Yeah what hotel is that again?" Peter replied.
"The Playa Del Mar," Micky replied. "We're currently in the restaurant right now. We'll wait for you, ok?"
"Yeah, I'll be right down Micky. Thanks a lot man!" Peter replied.
"You're welcome bud. See you soon." Micky replied and then hung up the phone.
"I didn't even know his grandmother had passed," Elaine said concerned.
"It was a sudden death and it shocked the family terribly. When Naomi didn't show up to the visitation or funeral and Peter's parents kept asking where his girlfriend was and Peter didn't know they told Peter he should reconsider having an ungrateful girlfriend." Micky told her.
"Naomi is certainly not ungrateful Micky. She's been so stressed out with work this week, as we all have, that it might have not occurred to her how serious the message was that he left on her phone." Elaine defended Naomi.
"He broke up with her today Elaine. He's going to come here for a few drinks and wants me to talk with him. I'm sorry if that upsets our plans." Micky said concerned.
"No, it's okay Micky. I understand. I'll just go to the room and call Naomi to find out how she's doing. You can talk with Peter and please take as long as you two need. I certainly understand." Elaine told him compassionately.
"Thank you," he said after he kissed her.
When Peter arrived Elaine gave him a hug and kiss and said, "I'm so sorry about your loss Peter."
"Thank you" he replied. "I hope I'm not disturbing your time with Micky, Elaine. I know how much this weekend meant to the both of you."
"Not at all Peter. Don't you worry about a thing. I'll be up in the room if you need me for anything." Elaine told them.
"Thanks baby," Micky replied giving her a hug and a kiss.
Elaine went back to the room and called Naomi while Peter sat in the restaurant and had a few Coke's with Micky.
At the house the phone started to ring. "I'll get it" Sam told Louise. "Hello" she said picking it up.
"Sam, this is Elaine. I just heard the news, how is Naomi?"
"What? How did you hear the news Elaine?" Sam asked puzzled.
"Peter called Micky and they're talking in the restaurant of the hotel we're at right now." Elaine told her friend.
"Ah, I see. Well she's terribly broken up about it and can't stop crying for anything in the world." Samantha told her friend.
"Let me talk to her Sam. Please." Elaine pleaded with her friend.
Sam opened up Naomi's bedroom door and said, "Sweetie, Elaine's on the phone for you."
Naomi reached for her phone and cried out, "Elaine, oh my gosh, you'll never guess what happened to me this morning."
Sam hung up the phone and let Naomi talk to Elaine. They were very close and it was a good thing for Naomi to talk to her.
Back on the phone Elaine listened while Naomi told her the story. "I must have heard the message wrong Elaine. I would have never missed the visitation or the funeral if I was fully alert. You know that right?"
"Yes sweetie, I know that. We were all so overworked and exhausted every night it could happen to any of us. I'm sure Peter will calm down soon sweetie and he'll be back. He just needs time." Elaine told her friend.
"I miss you so much Elaine. When are you coming home?" Naomi asked crying.
"Tomorrow night sweetie. I'll be back home around 6pm tomorrow night." Elaine told her friend.
"Can't you come home earlier?" Naomi asked.
Elaine felt so badly for Naomi and said, "I really can't Naomi. You'll be fine. Sam and Louise are there with you. And they won't leave you alone."
"But I want you here Elaine. You understand me better than they do." Naomi pleaded.
"I know sweetie, but the time will fly by and then I'll be there. You'll see. We can talk on the phone as long as we need, ok?" Elaine asked her friend.
"Okay." Naomi replied.
"Take a deep breath and dry your tears for me, okay sweetie?" Elaine asked.
"Okay." Naomi said.
Elaine heard Naomi take in a deep breath and then she heard the kleenex being taken out of the box and Naomi wiped her eyes and blew her nose. Elaine turned on the bed and reached for her prayer book she had also brought with. She would read to Naomi and that would help her to calm down.
"Okay I'm done now." Naomi said in a soft whisper.
"That's good sweetie. You're doing just fine. Keep breathing nice and slowly for me, ok?" Elaine asked.
"Okay," Naomi replied.
Elaine started to read a prayer to Naomi and Naomi stretched out on her bed and closed her eyes and tried to relax. Elaine could hear Naomi's breathing starting to slow down and relax more.
When Elaine finished with her one prayer from her book, she told Naomi, "Now I'm going to pray with you myself, okay sweetie?"
"Okay," Naomi said as she yawned. Elaine knew Naomi was calming down and would go to sleep soon.
Please God, be with them during their time of need.
Please help Peter to understand that Naomi would never, ever, ever
intentionally miss something as important as Peter's grandmother's visitation and funeral.
Lord, you know Naomi's heart and soul and you know that she has a heart of gold
and is always trying to help her loving friends and family.
Please help Peter to understand this Lord. And please help him to want to not give up
on their beautiful new relationship that has been growing stronger over the past few months, Lord.
And help him to realize that Naomi is a kind and loving person and she's totally in love with him.
We all know this, including Peter, who, at this moment in time, is letting his pain
get in the way of knowing his true heart and true feelings for Naomi.
Please dear God give Naomi the strength that she needs to be able to help
to show Peter that she meant no harm to himself or his family.
And please give them the guidance to fulfill a life full of happiness and love together.
Thank you Lord for hearing our prayers. We are your servants forever.
We pray this in your precious son Jesus' name. Amen."
Elaine asked, "Are you still there Naomi?" There was only the sound of Naomi snoring that Elaine had heard. Elaine smiled and said, "Thank you Lord for letting her fall asleep. I pray this in your precious son Jesus' name. Amen." Elaine hung up the phone and called Sam's cell phone.
"Hello" Sam answered.
"Go in Naomi's room and hang up the phone. She's asleep." Elaine replied.
"Praise God. How did you get her to relax?" Sam asked.
"I prayed with her." Elaine replied.
"I am so glad you called Elaine. Hang on while I walk in there and hang up the phone." Sam walked into Naomi's room and gently took the phone out of her hand and hung it up.
She covered Naomi up with her comforter and then walked out of the room quietly closing the door. "Okay it's done now Elaine." Sam replied.
"Good, thanks a lot Sam." Elaine replied.
"How's it going there?" Sam asked.
"Good, good. Peter's talking with Micky now and I thought I'd call Naomi to check in with her. You're not going to leave her alone today or tomorrow, are you?" Elaine asked.
"No, Louise and I are staying in the entire weekend. We'll be here with her." Sam replied.
"Good. I don't want her to be left alone right now. I should be back home at 6pm tomorrow night. If she needs me, you have her call my cell, ok?" Elaine said.
"As long as you don't mind Elaine. We don't want to interrupt your weekend." Sam replied.
"No bother at all. I want her to call me if she needs to." Elaine replied.
"Okay Elaine. I'll let you go now. Thanks for calling." Sam replied.
"You're welcome. Check on her every few hours ok?" Elaine asked.
"Okay we will. Goodnight." Sam replied.
"Night." Elaine answered back.
Elaine laid down on the bed and praised God for the words and guidance to relax Naomi into a sleep. Elaine covered up with her blanket and took a nap herself. She was tired as well.
~~~~~
Back at the restaurant, Micky had talked to Peter about Naomi and how happy Naomi made Peter feel. Peter came to the conclusion that he was wrong in what he had told her and he promised Micky he would try to work it out.
After their third round of Cokes, Peter replied, "I should let you go back to the room to see Elaine."
"You going to be okay, Pete?" Micky asked concerned.
"Yeah, I'll be just fine. Thanks for meeting with me today Micky. You're a good friend." Peter replied.
"So are you my man. So are you." Micky said as he gave Peter a hug. "Call me if you need me for anything else, ok?"
"I will, thanks so much Micky. See you tomorrow night when you return." Peter said.
"Okay we'll be home around 6pm. Don't forget call me if you need me." Micky yelled as Peter was walking out the door.
"I won't forget." Peter yelled back.
Micky finished his pop and then walked back up to the room where he found a sleeping Elaine. He went to the bathroom and then crawled under the covers next to his friend and put his arm around her and then he, too, fell asleep.
Peter drove back to the pad, went inside his room, and went right to sleep. He felt at such ease and knew he would talk to Naomi in the morning and apologize for his rash behavior.
