Chapter 3

At Church, Elaine told Sam, "We're going to sit down in front today, ok? I'm going to be explaining more to Micky about things and I don't want to interrupt your worshiping experience, ok?"

"That's fine Elaine. Don't worry about it. I'm so happy he wants to learn. Mike isn't that wanting to learn that eagerly. But I am working with him on some things." Sam replied.

"All in due time my friend" Elaine said. "All in due time. We are their light, remember that."

"Yeah I know, but sometimes it's irritating to me." Sam replied.

"You'll be fine. Just be there for him when, and if, he does have questions." Elaine remarked.

Elaine walked into the sanctuary and told Micky, "We're going to sit in front today, just me and you. That way we can talk in private, ok?"

"Thanks Elaine," Micky said with a smile on his face. She held his hand as they walked to the front booth and sat down in the corner front booth. Just enough to where they could see everything and far enough away to where Elaine's talking wouldn't bother anyone.

"Why are they sitting over there?" Mike asked Sam.

"Micky's in class with Elaine today, that's why." Sam answered.

"In class? What for?" Mike asked curiously.

"He's learning about God, Mike. Any time you wish to know more please just ask me and I will explain to you." Sam replied.

Back down in front, Elaine opened her hymnal and told Micky, "I always mark the pages with the marker before the service. That way I don't have to mess around finding all the songs when the service is in session."

"That's a good way to think Elaine. I'm impressed." he replied to her.

Elaine kissed his cheek and put her arm around his shoulder and said, "I'm so proud of you for wanting to learn more."

"Thanks Elaine. That means a lot to me to hear you say something like that to me" he replied.

"You're welcome, baby. Hey there's my minister, Pastor Lyons. I want to introduce you to her, ok?"

"Ok" Micky said as he took her hand and they walked up to the altar.

"Excuse me, Pastor Lyons. But I wanted to introduce you to my boyfriend Micky and he's learning about the Lord." Elaine said smiling so brightly.

"Well, good morning Elaine and so nice to meet you Micky. Elaine is a sweet gal and you are very blessed to know her," Pastor Lyons replied.

"Thank you Pastor" Micky said nervously.

"Anything you want me to explain to him Elaine, I can meet with you both after the service and I can answer any questions, ok?" Pastor Lyons asked.

"Okay thanks Pastor. We will come to you if we have any." Elaine replied.

"Nice to meet you again Micky. I hope you enjoy your visit with us today." Pastor Lyons replied.

"Thank you Pastor" Micky replied.

They went back and sat down in their corner booth and Elaine told him, "Just relax and breathe Micky. You're doing fine."

"I'm so nervous Elaine. I don't know why but my stomach just started tightening so badly and I got so nervous I started to shake." Micky replied.

Elaine put his hands on his tummy and instructed, "Go back to your breathing Micky like you do when you're nervous for a show. Ok? Just breathe nice and slowly. We still have five minutes before the service starts."

Micky closed his eyes and breathed as Elaine watched him. "That's right, nice and slowly" she coached him.

Pastor Lyons came out and welcomed all the members and visitors and then started the service. Elaine was focused on the service and Micky followed along with the service in his program. Micky focused all his attention on the Pastor. He knew that Elaine would explain more after the service was over with.

Micky really liked how the Pastor explained things clearly and used her whole body to give the presentation. It was very clear and thorough.

When they were singing the first hymn, Elaine whispered, "This is my utmost favorite." Micky smiled at her as they both sang together. Micky felt it was something great that he could share together with Elaine, for he knew how passionate she was about the Lord and her Church.

When the little kids all came down for Children's Service, Micky told Elaine, "Awww, that's so cute."

"She always gives them a gift to at the end of the service. You should see their smiles. It's just beautiful" Elaine replied.

Micky held Elaine's hand even tighter as they watched the children's service together. The kids were absolutely adorable. There were about 40 of them that went down all around the Pastor.

Pastor Lyons asked, "How many of you children have been good boys and girls for your parents this week?" About 35 hands all went up in the air. "Well that's great you've all been obeying your parents. That's one of God's commandments for us is that we must honor and obey our mother and father."

Elaine put her head on Micky's shoulder and whispered, "They are just the sweetest things."

"Yeah they are." he whispered back to her.

Meanwhile in the back pew, Samantha was sitting there with Mike and he was fidgeting with his shirt. "This is constraining me" he said.

"Unbutton the top of it then." Sam snapped at him. "I thought you wanted to come with me today here?"

"I did, but this shirt is driving me bananas." Mike replied.

Samantha took her fingers and undid his front button for him and told him, "Please be quiet."

Mike opened his program guide and saw they were still in the beginning of the service. He quietly sighed as he was bored to pieces; however, he did not tell Samantha that. Mike had his own view on religion; however, he did agree to come with Samantha to her Church, so he knew he had to sit there and be patient.

After the children's service was over with, the Pastor took her place at the altar and gave the Sermon. Elaine took out her notebook from her purse and got her pen ready. Micky asked, "What are you doing?"

"I take notes of all the sermons, so that I can have a bible study later on the subjects." Elaine whispered.

Elaine wrote down what the Pastor was talking about and Micky just watched with amazement. He had so much to learn from Elaine, but he was very much up to the challenge.

When the Sermon was over with the Pastor invited any visitors to come down to the altar if they wanted to give their life over to the Lord. Elaine whispered, "you don't have to go if you don't want to. It's not a requirement."

"Will you go up there with me?" Micky asked.

"Yes" Elaine took his hand and walked up to the front with him.

Samantha asked Mike, "You care to go up like Micky is? It's not a requirement."

"Um no. But thanks for asking anyway." Mike replied.

Elaine held Micky's hand as the Pastor blessed Micky welcoming him into the family of God. Elaine was never so happy in her life to see Micky give his life over. Then they went back to the pew and sat down. "You okay?" she asked.

"Yeah I feel great actually" he whispered to her.

She kissed him on the forehead and said, "God bless you."

"God bless you too sweetie" he replied.

After the offering was taken, everyone went up to communion. Elaine whispered, "You can't take any, but you can watch, ok?" Micky smiled at her. Elaine walked up and took her communion and then went back to her seat and prayed.

Mike was yawning like crazy in the back row. He was driving Samantha absolutely crazy. She had to bite her tongue and not say anything to him; however, she did know that she would not be bringing him to church with her anymore.

After the service was over with, Elaine and Micky walked back to greet Sam and Mike, "Hey guys." Micky said.

"Hey Micky. You gave your life to the Lord huh? That's pretty special." Samantha replied.

"Yeah it is. I feel truly blessed." he replied.

"Too bad Mike over here doesn't feel the same way. He can't seem to stay awake." Samantha replied angrily.

"Micky, do you feel like wanting to talk to Pastor about some things or would you rather way till another time?" Elaine asked cheerfully.

"Well considering Mike here is falling asleep. I should say I will wait. But this is an important day for me, so I think we should meet with the Pastor since she offered." Micky replied.

"You okay with that Sam?" Elaine asked. "Give me your keys in case we want to get in the car. Otherwise, we'll just hang out here and I'll give him a tour of the church." Sam replied.

Elaine handed her the keys and then her and Micky went back into the Pastor's study for a conversation.

"Where did they go?" Mike asked ready to leave.

"Micky's having a class with the Pastor. So you and I are taking a tour of the church. Hopefully that will wake you up some." Samantha replied.

Mike rolled his eyes and then followed behind Samantha for the tour. There was nothing he could do since they rode in Elaine's car and he didn't know where they were at.

"These are our confirmation pictures Mike," Sam pointed to him. "This is me, Elaine, Naomi, and Louise."

Mike looked at them and asked, "That's Louise? What happened to her?"

"She grew up into a woman Mike, that's what happened to her." Samantha scowled at him. He was really upsetting her that day and she couldn't wait until they left for the week.

Elaine and Micky walked outside the Church and Sam said, "Finally. Thank goodness. We were wondering what was taking so long."

Sam handed Elaine the keys and Elaine said, "Sorry we got caught up in a conversation."

"I can't wait till he goes back for the week" Sam whispered to Elaine.

"Why? What's wrong?" Elaine asked.

"He's being a pain in my butt that's what's wrong Elaine" Sam scowled at her friend.

The four friends walked to the car and Sam said, "Micky, would you mind if I rode in front with Elaine this time please?"

"Sure, that's fine Sam. I don't mind at all," Micky replied back.

Sam got into the front seat next to Elaine while the guys sat in back. Sam turned the radio on and then told Elaine, "I'm never bringing him again. He's so antsy and grumpy."

"Well I can't help you on that topic" Elaine whispered back.

When they arrived back at the house and went inside. Sam told everyone, "Elaine and I have some errands to run. We'll be back later. Anyone need anything?"

Micky asked, "How much later?"

"Not long sweetie" Elaine replied to him. "Maybe an hour or two."

"Okay have a good time then. We'll be here when you return." Micky said.

Sam and Elaine walked outside and Sam said, "I'll drive this time." The two friends got into Samantha's car and Sam went on, "All he did was yawn throughout the entire service. Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Rutler were staring at him like he was from planet Zulu or something."

"Sorry to hear that Sam" Elaine replied trying hard not to laugh.

"It was terrible. Remind me never to bring him to Church again with us." Sam chimed at Elaine.

"Okay. Where are we going anyway?" Elaine asked.

"I just needed to talk to someone Elaine. I felt like I was going to murder him in front of everyone. I have no idea what his problem was." Samantha went on and on. Poor Elaine sat there praying that Sam would eventually shut up and figure out where they were driving to.

Elaine saw a Walgreenies and said, "Pull into the lot. I need to go inside for something."

Sam pulled the car into the lot and both friends got out of the car and went inside. Sam followed Elaine, "You would think for my sake he would not be so embarrassing to everyone around us, wouldn't you Elaine?"

"Um well, you would think Sam. I don't understand how Mike operates so I can't tell you one way or another. I have enough problems trying to understand Micky." Elaine replied.

"What do you need in here anyway?" Sam asked.

"Just let me run down one aisle and then I'll be back to the front. Wait for me in cosmetics." Elaine replied.

"Okay, I'll get us some Coca-Cola then and walk to Cosmetics." Sam replied as she walked down the hallway.

Elaine slipped down an aisle, grabbed a box, and then went to the front checkout to pay for what was in her hands. Then she walked back over to cosmetics and got a shampoo to buy.

"What's in the bag already Elaine?" Sam asked curiously.

"Oh nothing much. I remembered Micky needed another inhaler and I wanted to pick it up before I forgot, so I wanted to pay for his things separately." Elaine replied.

The checkout girl rang them both up and then they left. Elaine put her bag into her purse as they got to the car. Sam thought Elaine was acting extremely strange, although she didn't question her on it.

In the car Sam and Elaine opened up their Coca-Colas and had a few sips. "Now what?" asked Elaine.

"Do you need anything at K-marties?" Sam asked.

"No, do you?" Elaine replied.

"No, just wondering if you did, that's all." Sam answered back.

"Well we should just get back to the house then." Elaine replied.

"Do we really have to, Elaine?" Sam whined.

"Yes we do." Elaine demanded.

Sam groaned, "Fine" and then started the car and drove them back home.

They walked into the house and Mike said, "Back so soon?"

"Yeah, my thoughts exactly." Sam complained.

Elaine took her purse and walked into her bedroom and sat down. Micky walked in the room and asked, "You okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine, why?" Elaine asked.

"Just curious, that's all." Micky replied. "What's in the bag?"

Elaine opened the bag and then looked at him. Micky sat down and Elaine put the bag back in her purse.

"How did you remember?" Micky asked.

"You told me before." Elaine replied.

"Awww, you're just the sweetest thing ever Elaine." he kissed her happily.

Elaine closed her bedroom door and locked it and said, "I'm ready for a nap and I'm tired of wearing these awful shoes." Elaine walked into her bathroom and put on her t-shirt and pajama shorts and they walked back out to the bed and crawled inside. Micky got out of his good clothes and into his t-shirt and shorts and also crawled inside the bed.

"Sweet dreams" Elaine said to him.

"Thanks, and you too." Micky replied. The two kissed and then went back to sleep. It was an exciting day for all of them.
