It was a very hot summer day when Elaine came home from work with Sam, Louise, and Naomi. They got out of their work clothes and put on their T-shirts and shorts. Elaine walked into the livingroom and collapsed on the couch.
"I'm so glad it's Friday," Elaine told her friends.
"What's the plan for this weekend ladies?" Louise asked curiously.
"Don't know." replied Naomi.
"I guess it will all depend on what the guys want to do after their concert tonight." Sam answered.
"Another late one I'm sure with publicity events afterward and everything. They will probably be exhausted by the time they arrive and expect for us to let them crash here as always." Elaine replied.
"Well as long as Micky's not snoring like a bear near my room I don't care" Louise replied.
"I think he'll be too tired to snore tonight" Elaine replied. "The guys haven't been getting along very well again from what Micky's phone call left on my cell at lunch informed me."
"That's too bad!" Naomi replied. "Why can't they just get along?"
"If that's the case, Mike will be extremely grumpy tonight then. He can sleep on the couch instead of my room then. I don't need to put up with his attitude and I won't." Samantha replied. "Sometimes they all act like 2nd graders. Like we do when we fight."
Naomi smiled at them and then said, "Well we've been doing good for about six months now and I don't want to see us break that pattern either. We can't let the guys drag us down and hurt our friendships just because we are all dating one of them."
"Yeah that's true" Elaine replied. "I just don't want to be the brunt of Micky's anger though. I might have to tell him off if I am."
Just then the phone started to ring. Elaine reached over and picked it up saying, "Hello?"
"Elaine, this is Micky. How are you today?" he asked.
"We're fine. How are you and the guys doing?" she asked curiously.
"Mike and Peter are fighting over the songs again and Davy and I had a shouting match earlier today because of who was going to play drums. But we've finally had a talk with the producers and managers and came to a conclusion." he told her.
"And what is that conclusion, Micky?" Elaine asked not really wanting to hear the answer, but knew that he would tell her anyway.
"Well for starters, Davy will end up playing drums on half of the tour songs the next round and we will alternate for local concerts half and half. Peter will compose two songs a month with Mike composing two as well. Then I will compose four and Davy will compose four. And that, of course, is all dependent on who will sing lead on those songs." Micky replied.
"But?" Elaine asked.
"Well, hang on a minute Elaine. They are outside my dressing room screaming again." Micky told her, upset.
Micky put the phone down and went to his dressing room door and opened it. "Stop all this bickering guys. You're driving me bonkers!" Micky yelled at the top of his lungs. Elaine had to pull the phone away from her ear it was so loud.
Elaine whispered to the girls, "They're still arguing and it's what almost 5pm?" The girls all looked at each other and blew out a breath of frustration.
Samantha replied, "This will be a fun night with the four of them on each other's throat."
"Sorry about that Elaine. They are driving me nuts." Micky replied.
"It's okay. When will the concert be over with tonight?" she asked.
"Um, I want to say around 2am. We've got the concert up until 11pm. Then a meet and greet from 11 - 1am. Then I'll probably need to get my sanity back before I even attempt coming over to your house with them." he told her honestly.
"That's a bummer Micky. We're so sorry everyone is disagreeing." Elaine replied remorsefully.
"It's okay, not your fault sweetie. I just had to call to hear your voice. I miss you very much today. You're like my sanity besides for me praying that God helps me get through this horrible day. I just want it to be over with so I can just spend time with you the rest of the weekend and not worry about anything. The guys and I won't fight around you girls, so you won't need to worry about that one." he told her.
"Well that's good because honestly Micky, we don't want to hear the bickering." she replied.
"I know baby and that's why I'm taking that extra hour tonight to just get my sanity back before coming over." he replied.
"Just try and calm your nerves Micky and remember you are performing for God, remember? Not anyone else, just for God and you want to treat them with love and respect like always. I know it's hard Micky, but you need to do it." Elaine replied.
"I know" he said. "It's just been so hard that I've been in my dressing room most the day avoiding all of them. And I had to call you before I lost my marbles."
"Awwww hugs to you Micky," Elaine replied.
"Hugs back to you baby. I promise you I will be okay so don't worry about me, ok?" he replied.
"Okay I will pray for you for a terrific concert tonight and that everyone gets along, ok?" she told him.
"Thanks a million Elaine. Tell the other girls I said hello and send my love. I will see you around 2am then. Don't wait up. I can let us in with my key if you want." he told her.
"We'll probably take a nap and then be up to greet you Micky. Oh and just so you know, if there is any bickering still going on, you all are sleeping in the livingroom together and not invading our rooms. Got it?" Elaine asked seriously.
"Got it. Elaine and I'll be sure to pass on that lovely news to the guys when they aren't wanting to kill each other," he told her.
"See you later then Micky. Thanks for calling." Elaine told him.
"You're welcome baby. Thanks for talking with me. Bye."
Micky hung up the phone and took a deep breath. He quietly said a prayer to God and then went to the bathroom and walked back out on the set into the pits of wrath.
Back at the house Elaine told the girls, "Yeah Micky said it's still really bad and they won't be here until after 2am."
"What?" Naomi asked. "I'm not staying up that late."
"I told him we would take a nap Naomi. And then we would be able to greet them when they arrived." Elaine replied.
"Hopefully they will be calmed down by that time?" Samantha replied.
"Yeah" Louise replied. "What's for dinner ladies?"
"I thought we'd order a pizza tonight so we don't have to go out in this hot, humid weather." Elaine replied.
"Sounds good to me." Samantha, Louise, and Naomi all replied in unison.
Elaine stood up and walked over to her purse and pulled out her money. She also had a coupon for buy two pizzas get a third for free. She was going to order the extra pizza for the guys. "Cheese and double pepperoni okay with everyone?" she asked her friends.
"Fine." they all replied.
Elaine picked up the phone and called to order the pizza. She asked what time the pizza would be there and she said, "Two hours? What on earth will it take that long for?"
The voice on the other end told her, "We've got tons of parties tonight Elaine. We'll try to speed it up, however, I cannot guarantee it."
Elaine replied, "Forget it, I'll call Domingos instead. At least we can get our pizza sooner from them."
Elaine slammed down the phone and said, "Two hours my butt." Elaine pulled out the phonebook and dialed Domingos phone number and first asked how long it would take to receive a delivery instead of wasting her time on the phone with them first.
When she heard a half hour, she could live with that. "Yes, place the order please for delivery." After it was ordered, Elaine sat back down and stretched out her legs. "I can't get over how sad he sounded on the phone. It must really be bad down there tonight?"
Louise curled her eyebrow and asked, "Domingos or Micky, sweetie?"
"Micky." Elaine replied. "I don't think I've ever heard him so sad before. This must really be affecting him seriously."
"Poor guy" Louise said. "Why can't they all just get along?"
Elaine closed her eyes and said a prayer for Micky and the gang and then rested until the pizza arrived.
Half an hour went by and they heard a "Brrng, brrng" from the doorbell. Elaine jumped up she was in a sleep by that time. "I'll get it" she told her friends. She walked to the door and opened it. It was the pizza delivery guy. "Thanks, keep the change" she told the driver.
"Hey thanks Miss. What a generous tip." he replied.
Elaine had then looked at the bill and realized she gave him a $10.00 tip and said, "Oh wait a minute. I'm sorry, give me $5.00 back and you keep the other $5.00. Sorry I just woke up from my nap."
"Okay lady, still thanks for the generous tip." he said.
"Um where's our Coca-Cola I ordered? There should be a 12-pack in your car. It's on the bill and I paid for it." she asked sternly.
"Oh yeah, sorry Miss. Let me get that for you." he said.
"Don't you short me my Coca-Cola or I'll call your manager and have you fired!" she screamed out the door at the driver.
The driver got into his car and returned with a 12-pack of Coke and said, "Sorry Miss I wasn't with it. Please don't report me to my boss."
"I won't if you give me my drink" she replied.
"Okay here it is." he answered.
"Sam come and help me" Elaine called out.
Samantha walked to the door and took the pop from the driver while Elaine closed the door and carried the pizzas to the kitchen.
"Can you believe that? He was going to short me my Coca-Cola." Elaine asked upset.
"I don't think it was intentional." Louise replied. "He seemed kind of absent-minded."
"Young kids of today. They ought to be ashamed for their workplace ethics. If they didn't party half the night and were dependable, we wouldn't have absent-minded people in this world." Elaine spatted back.
Louise looked at Elaine's feet and asked, "Kind of like you with two different slippers on, huh Elaine?"
Elaine looked at her feet and just rolled her eyes. She was not going to respond.
The four friends sat in the livingroom and watched TV while eating their pizza and drinking their Coca-Colas. After their food was finished and put away, the girls all curled up in the livingroom and fell asleep. They were absolutely stuffed to the gills and exhausted from their long day at work.
Meanwhile, back at the concert hall, the guys were setting up their instruments when Davy spouted, "Micky, I'm not taking these down since you are playing them in the first half of the show. They are technically yours and you can take them down."
"Fine, I'll take them down Davy. I don't mind." Micky replied.
Micky knew Davy was just wanting a fight and he absolutely refused to give it to him. Micky walked into his dressing room and had some quiet time to himself. He tried to call Elaine, but no one answered. He figured she was sleeping. He pulled out his pocket Bible that Elaine had given him as a gift and started to read the Gospels for a bit.
He then put his head down, folded his hands into prayer position, and prayed for a good concert and no bickering between the four guys. Then he took some deep breaths putting his hands on his tummy and practicing the way Elaine had taught him to breathe during stressful situations. He soon felt his entire body relax and all tensed emotions he had were completely gone. He loved Elaine and she had taught him so much about life that he had no clue existed. He was so happy since he had met her.
"Five minutes Micky" someone shouted through the door as Micky was buttoning up his blue shirt he was wearing for the first set of numbers. He then put his hands on his tummy again and breathed deeply and slowly relaxing himself.
He took a puff on his inhaler to help him breathe better and prevent an asthma attack and then he smiled and said, "Thank you Lord for blessing me with everything, including Elaine and her friends. Amen."
He then walked out onto the stage and took his seat at the drums. "And-a-one, and-a-two, and-a-one, two, three, four." he counted out and then the guys all started out playing "Last Train to Clarksville" and the crowd went absolutely wild. Micky smiled as he heard the 'oohs and ahhhs' of the audience. On stage the guys clicked tremendously. Off stage and in production it was a different story some days, as it was always with different opinions of who does this, that, etc...
The night flew by and the music was really sounding groovy and Micky was extremely relaxed and happy and could just really get into the music himself.
During intermission there were no jabs at each other or bickering and Micky just changed his sweaty shirt and put on his t-shirt and shorts and took his place in front of the band with his guitar while Davy sat playing the drums.
Micky went wild on his song, "Words" and the crowd went wild listening to "Never Enough" and then Micky pranced around stage singing his solos on, "Mary, Mary" and "(Admiral Mike) You're selling ads." The crowd went absolutely bonkers.
One lady, in fact, threw Micky a nice little lingerie present and Micky was floored. He knew he had adoring fans, but lingerie? He left it there on the stage the entire show.
The show went from 7 - 11pm and then the crowd did a huge encore and the guys came out to play from 11 - 12am as a kind gesture to the crowd who had flooded the concert hall to standing room only. It was a momentous event for all four of the guys. Then they bowed and thanked the audience for coming. The curtains closed.
Micky said, "The meet and greet will have to run longer then since we ran longer with the show."
Peter replied, "That's fine with me. I'm going to have a few drinks anyway."
At the front of the concert hall, the meet and greet took place and it was packed. The guys must have had about 2,000 fans there that night. When everything was finally over and done with it was after 4am.
Micky looked at his watch and said, "Oh my. I told Elaine we'd be there at 2am. They're probably frantic." Micky tried to call Elaine, but no one answered.
The guys packed up their things and took them back to the studio and then left for the girls' house. When they arrived, the lights were on and the shades were open.
Micky peeked inside and they were all still asleep on the couch. Micky said, "Oh thank goodness they're all still asleep." Micky knocked on the door and Elaine jumped. Elaine walked to the door and the guys said, "Sorry we're late. Everything ran over."
Elaine was half asleep she couldn't even walk normally. Micky closed the door and said, "Let me, Elaine." Elaine walked back and took her spot on the couch again and fell immediately back to sleep. Micky closed the shades in the front window and the guys ransacked the fridge.
Peter said, "ooh they got us pizza. How sweet of them." The guys sat in the kitchen and ate pizza since they were starving and got along really well.
"Look at them. They are so clueless we are even here." Davy said.
"Good, and don't wake them either." Micky replied.
As they were eating, the guys heard snoring and all four of the girls were in a deep sleep and snoring very loudly. Micky smiled and said, "I'll fit right in with them tonight. I'm so tired myself."
Peter, Davy, and Mike all looked at each other, but did not say a single word except Mike who said, "I guess we're on the floor tonight, huh? Since they are spread out on the furniture?"
"Yeah I guess so" Micky replied. "I'll get the blankets and pillows."
Micky walked to the hall closet and got four blankets and four pillows and handed them to the guys. Then he went into Elaine's room to use the bathroom and put on his clean pajamas before walking back into the livingroom to crash for the night while Peter and Davy put the leftovers back in the fridge.
"That was sure nice of them," Peter told Davy.
"Yeah it really was. They're so good to us." Davy replied.
"Yeah they really are," Peter said gleefully.
Davy took his place on the floor and said, "Goodnight gents."
Micky turned off the light in the livingroom leaving the kitchen light on and said, "Night everyone."
Mike and Peter both said, "night" and the house went very quiet for the night. Well, except for the snoring, that is.
That following day Louise woke up and saw the guys spread out all over the floor. She maneuvered her way around all of them to go into the bathroom. When she came out Samantha was stretching her legs.
Louise said, "Don't stretch too far or hard there Sam, the guys are at your feet."
Samantha looked down and there all four of them were. "What time did they get in?" Sam asked.
"Don't know, I was dead to the world myself," Louise replied.
"What time is it?" Sam asked.
"It's noon already and I can't believe it" Louise replied. "We've slept the entire morning away."
"Wow!" Sam said in shock. "I can't believe we slept for almost 16 full hours. We must have really been exhausted."
"Yeah, I guess so" Louise replied.
Slowly one-by-one Naomi and Elaine started to wake up. Elaine stretched out her leg and felt something against it. She said, "What the heck?" She looked down and it was Micky lying there.
"When did they get here?" she asked.
"We have no idea," Louise and Sam replied. "We just woke up and found them there."
Naomi looked down at the floor and asked, "Who is that?"
Elaine laughed and said, "That's Peter sweetie. The guys are all spread out on the floor."
"Oh!" Naomi replied as she scratched her head and nose. "I can't believe we slept so long. It's almost 12:30pm."
Elaine looked at the clock and said, "Good grief I'm behind in my housework."
Elaine quickly walked around the guys and went into her room and started to clean. She tried to do her housework every Saturday no matter what, unless she was sick of course.
Sam asked, "Why can't she ever just relax on Saturdays?"
"Don't know, Sam. She's anal about this housekeeping business on Saturdays. Been that way for years." Louise replied.
"It's so tiring to even watch." Sam replied as she closed her eyes again and yawned.
Elaine had put a load of laundry in, stripped her bedding, dusted her dresser drawers and knickknacks, and added another load of laundry to the washer all by the time the guys got up at 2pm.
Micky woke up and yawned, "What time is it?"
"Two p.m, Micky" Louise replied. "And Elaine's busy in the bedroom cleaning it from top to bottom."
"Oh." Micky yawned again and replied.
"When did you guys finally get in anyway?" Naomi asked.
"About 5am" a very tired Micky replied.
"Who let you inside?" Sam asked.
"Elaine. But she doesn't remember it I'm sure. She collapsed on the couch immediately and fell back asleep." Micky replied.
Elaine walked out into the livingroom and made her way across the floor, "Excuse me. Move please." she said over and over again as she moved into Naomi's room.
"What's wrong, Elaine?" Naomi asked.
"Nothing, just returning some of your clothes I guess got mixed in with my last batch of laundry and I just noticed them today." Elaine replied.
"Thanks" Naomi smiled at her friend.
"You're welcome" Elaine said as she made her way back into her room and closed the door.
Micky slowly stood up and walked into Elaine's room. "How are you today?" he asked.
"Fine, you?" she replied.
"Tired. Extremely tired." Micky said as he yawned.
"Well go back to sleep then and rest Micky. I'm just doing my Saturday cleaning and I'll be busy with this most the day since I slept late." she replied.
"I can help you." He told her.
"I've got everything taken care of already Micky. I'm just waiting on my clothes to dry so I can remake the bed and then I want to vacuum; however, I can't vacuum until everyone wakes up." she told him.
Micky stretched out his arms and legs and said, "Look what some gal threw at me last night at the concert Elaine." Micky pulled out the bra and showed it to her.
"That's just lovely Elaine said. Definitely not my taste. You're not going to keep it are you?" she asked.
"I don't know" he replied in a daze.
"Well you can't keep it in my room" Elaine spatted at him. "That is just rude and disrespectful to me."
Micky put it back in his bag and said, "It's gone now. There. Just relax, would you please?"
The buzzer on the dryer went off and Elaine walked to it and pulled out her bedding and said, "You can help me make the bed."
Micky grabbed the sheets and helped Elaine make the bed and then put the comfortable over everything. "Ahhhh, the nice fresh clean bedding." Micky asked so tired.
"And you can't lie in it until you're freshly showered Micky." she replied.
Micky took his clothes into her bathroom and took a shower to help him at least not fall asleep and drown in there.
Elaine took out her window cleaner and cleaned all the windows in her room. She let the air inside for a brief moment and then closed them again when the air conditioning turned back on. "Ugh, it's still a scorcher" she said to herself.
Micky finished with his shower and then came back out into the bedroom and said,
"Okay I'm showered now. Can I at least go back to sleep?"
Elaine looked at him and said, "Put a towel down on that pillow. I don't want your wet hair ruining my pillowcase."
Micky walked to the closet and put a fresh towel down on the pillow and then crawled in and said, "Ahhhh, this is heaven."
"I'm going to vacuum while you're sleeping. It will only take a few minutes." Elaine replied.
"Fine" Micky said. "I don't mind at all. Goodnight baby."
"Night" she replied back to him.
Micky immediately drifted off to sleep again.
Elaine peeked out into the livingroom and the guys were all awake. Elaine said, "I'm going to vacuum my room now. Just take a few minutes everyone."
Everyone nodded at Elaine.
Peter said, "She's just so courteous to us. Waiting until we're all awake to vacuum her room. That is so sweet."
"Yeah well she's grown up over the years too Peter." Naomi told him. "She never used to wait until we were awake. She used to wake us up running it."
"Oh." Peter said shocked.
"Yeah." Naomi replied. "It wasn't until Sam and Louise gave her a good lecture on the etiquette of proper housekeepers that she finally stopped it and waited."
"Yeah, and believe me I never want to re-live that conversation again" Sam replied to everyone.
"Me neither" said Louise.
The guys all looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders. What could they say? Absolutely nothing.
When Elaine was finished vacuuming, she went into her bathroom and about freaked. Micky had left his dirty clothes all over the floor. Elaine picked them up and put them into the washer and then walked back to the bathroom. She scrubbed her bathroom floor and dried it. Then she cleaned her sink and toilet. She also took a shower afterwards to rest and relax.
When she was dressed into her t-shirt and sweatpants, she walked to the kitchen to eat a piece of pizza and take her vitamins before she passed out. Then she said, "See I got you all pizza last night. Did you have some?"
"Yes we did" Peter, Mike, and Davy replied. "Thanks so much."
"You're welcome" Elaine replied. "Micky's sound asleep and I'm done with my cleaning so I'm going to take a nap too."
"Okay Elaine, have a good rest." Naomi told her friend.
"Thanks" Elaine replied. She walked back into her room and curled up in the bed next to Micky who was snoring away again. She put her head on his chest and then drifted off into dreamland as well. She could relax knowing her housework was done for the day.
Mike yawned and asked, "What are we going to do today ladies?"
"Nothing" Louise replied. "We're all staying in the air conditioning and relaxing. It's too hot to worry about anything else."
"Yeah, she's got a point" Sam replied.
"Yeah I can agree with that as well." Mike replied.
Davy laid down on the couch next to Louise and said, "Me too. I can relax laying here next to you."
"Okay Davy" Louise replied as she covered them both up with a blanket.
"Goodnight everyone."
"Night" they all replied back.
Everyone collapsed and fell asleep again. It was just a lazy day in their house.
