Sometime had passed and Roxie decided that it was time to put her plan in motion. She had changed her look a little and came up with a new name. That name was Dayanara which meant husband slayer. When she picked it she thought how appropriate. The last name she picked was Alexander. Dayanara Alexander she thought how perfect. She figured the best place to meet them was at the Vincent Van Go-Go. She heard that they were performing that night. She thought perfect everything is working out they way I thought it would.
At The Pad
Mike was at the bandstand tuning his guitar while waiting on the guys to settle down. Davy was on the phone with some. Micky was jumping and joking around. Peter was laughing at everything Micky did. Finally Mike had enough and decided to get everyone's attention.
Mike yelled, "Enough! We have a gig at the Vincent and we need to practice. Everyone stop what yer doing and get up here. Now!"
"Alright, Mike," Peter and Micky said.
"Davy?!," Mike said.
"`Ey, luv. I have to get off the phone. Talk to you later. Why? Because we have to practice right now. We have a gig at the Vincent. See ya then, luv. I really got to get off Mike's yelling at me," Davy said and hung up the phone.
"Davy," Mike said.
"I got off the phone Mike. I coming," Davy said.
"Ok guys. Now let's get serious. Let's start with Steppin' Stone, alright," Mike said to all of them.
After they were done practicing, they loaded all the gear into the Monkeemobile. They had to be at the Vincent in less than 2 hours, so wanted everything to be in the car before they left. As always Micky was always hungry, so for dinner he fixed chili. While they were eating they talked about the gig.
"Mike, I heard the owner's friends are going to be there tonight is that true?" Davy asked.
"Yeah that's true, but don't forget. I think some of them own clubs as well. So if we play really well we might get so more gigs," Mike said.
"Groovy, babe. We really need more gigs," Micky said.
They started to clean up the kitchen and put everything away. Mike decided to leave a bit earlier than usual so they would have more time to set up the instruments at the Vincent and have some free time before the show, but what they didn't know is that everything was about to turn for the worst for them.
Roxie/The Vincent
Roxie got ready to go to the Vincent. When she was done getting ready she looked in the mirror and said, "Perfect they won't suspect a thing."
She thought to herself who she should reel in first. Then she thought it doesn't matter whoever she got the attention of first. The first night only of her group will be there besides her for backup. She walked to her car, got in, and drove to the Vincent. When she arrived to the Vincent, she could hear that the show had already started. She had arrived a couple minutes late they were still playing the first song, (I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone.
Micky singing, "You're trying to make your mark in society. Using all the tricks that you used on me."
She walked into the club just as he started to sing the verse. She walked towards where everyone was dancing to join along with them. Micky had noticed her the moment she walked in. He wonder who the girl was who was wearing the red mini-dress and white go-go boots and medium length blonde hair. She was wearing glasses to cover eyes. He wanted to know who she was. He decided as soon as the guys and him got a break. He thought she was beautiful. Peter however was too caught up in the music to notice that "Dayanara" had walked in building.
Davy and Mike did though. Davy thought she was pretty, but there was something familiar about her though he couldn't place. He also had a bad feeling about it but he didn't know why as far as he was concerned. Mike thought the same thing as Davy and he didn't know why he felt that way. Roxie had noticed that Micky had taken the bait first. Great she thought, all I need now is for them to go on a break and I can catch him for sure. She sat down at one of the free tables that Micky could see her. They played a few more songs but before they stopped for a break they performed one more song, "I'm A Believer" and Micky looked at Roxie while he sang it.
They walked offstage. Each went in a separate direction: Davy to a girl he had seen, Peter sat down at one of the tables, Mike went to get a coke, and Micky to Roxie.
When Micky finally got the nerve to talk to her he said, "Hi I'm Micky Dolenz. I noticed that you came in shortly after we started and I just had to talk to you. Do you mind?"
Roxie said, "Hi Micky, I'm Dayanara Alexander, but people call me D or Day."
Micky sat down at the chair across hers. They talked, well mainly Micky, but before he knew it he was time to go back on stage.
They played another set. He went to Dayanara to talk to her before he had to take his drums to the Monkeemobile, but she couldn't talk she had to go home. So she gave him her number to call. He talked about her the entire night to the guys. Not that they weren't happy for him, they just wish he wouldn't talk about it so much. Mike had told them that they had a couple gigs for the next couple weeks at the other clubs in town, because a couple of owners from other clubs had talked to him. So they had a lot of practice in the future.
At Roxie's
"It's going great. He actually believes I am the girl of his dreams. Now I just have to work on Peter which is going to be a little difficult, but then I wouldn't have gotten into this if I didn't like a challenge. The plan went perfectly tonight, the guys blended in perfectly. I didn't have to signal them or anything," Roxie said to herself and laughed an evil laugh.
