Three weeks past quickly for everyone, Peter had no contact with Mary and Mike had no contact with Peter other then their gigs and practices. Their friendship was now non-existent. Peter seemed to be handling everything okay except he seemed to be really angry but the same couldn’t be said for Mary.

Mary sat in the living room watching Lilly run around getting ready for her date with Micky. Billie Holiday’s Darn That Dream was playing a little too loudly. The song came to an end and Mary got up from where she was sitting and put the needle back to the song. This time she sang along with the song.
“Darn that dream
I dream each night
You say you love me and hold me tight
But when I awake and you’re out of sight
Oh, darn that dream”
Mary sang through tears. Lilly came out of the bathroom and walked over to the record player and turned it off.
“Okay Mary, I think Billie’s getting a little tired of singing that song.” Mary had been playing that song for the last three hours. “How about your new Joan Baez album?” Lilly asked picking it up. Mary shook her head no. Lilly let out a sigh and went and sat beside Mary. She put her arm around Mary’s shoulders.
“Are you sure you don’t want to come out with use tonight?”
“I’m sure, plus Gone With The Wind and In The Good Old Summer Time are on tonight.” Lilly let out another sigh and continued getting ready. Ten minutes later there was a knock on the door. Lilly went and answered it. It was Micky.
“I’m ready but just give me a second.” Lilly turned around. “Mary do you want me to bring you anything back?”
“Some brown rice and hot and sour soup please” Mary said not even taking her eyes off the TV. Lilly grabbed her purse and left with Micky.

Micky was on his way taking Lilly home. He had borrowed the car from Mike, something that he had to beg for. Micky looked over at Lilly. She had been pretty quiet all during dinner.“Hey babe, what’s wrong?”
“What huh?” Lilly asked.
“What’s wrong?” Micky repeated.
“Oh I’m just worried about Mary. She just sits around the place all the time. The only time she leaves is to go to work. She is barely eating; she has lost like ten pounds. When she does leave she doesn’t care what she looks like. And if I hear one more Billie Holiday tune I’m going to go insane. I never knew she could be so depressing.”
“Well then I think it is time I had a talk with Peter. Mary and Peter belong together. He’s miserable without her even though he’s not saying anything. It’s time all this ends. I miss my old Peter and my old Mary.”
Lilly smiled.“I know you can do it Micky. You’re the only man for the job.”
