The weeks flew by too fast for Davy, and Sarah. Before he knew it was time for Sarah's party.
"Please tell me you didn't throw me a surprise party." Sarah begged as they started to walk up the stairs at the pad.
"I didn't!" Davy cried.
They seen all the lights go out.
"Surprise!" Peter yelled.
"Not yet!" Mike cried.
Sarah shot Davy a one eyebrow raised look.
"Okay, we may have." Davy replied.
The two entered the pad when everyone yelled surprise. Micky of course was the loudest.
Soon it was time for dancing. Micky felt horrible as he watched Davy and Sarah dance.
"I wish you wouldn't go." Davy said quietly.
Sarah smiled. "I have too. People in Africa need help. It seems like everyone forgot about them I have my sight back and I'm going to use it to help them."
"I'll miss you."
"I'm going to miss you too." Sarah said with a sniffle.
Davy gave her a warm hug.
The next day came and the four drove Sarah to the airport. Her folks were also there.
"I guess this is it." Sarah sighed.
"Take care of yourself." Mike said shaking her hand.
"Keep an eye on Davy." she begged.
"He always looks out for us. You have nothing to worry about." Peter assured her with a dimpled smile.
"I'll miss you. And your dimples."
"My dimples and I will miss you." Peter said giving her a hug.
She then moved to Micky. "Keep being funny."
"That's not a problem for me." Micky winked then gave her a hug.
She then moved to Davy. "I'm going to really miss you."
"I'll miss you too." Davy said with tears burning his eyes.
Davy watched as she got on the plane. Micky slipped an arm acrossed Davy's shoulders and gently lead him away.
"It's been close to a week. All he does is lay on that hammock." Peter frowned.
"His heart's broken Pete. He'll come around." Micky patted Peter's shoulder.
The three walked over to Davy. "Is this what were doing today? Sulking?" Mike asked.
"Yes."
"You did that yesterday."
"Yeah, well I'm not finished." Davy replied.
Micky hated to see his friend hurt so much. So he thought of an idea.
"Hey Davy? Wanna go camping?" he asked.
A smile formed acrossed Davy's face. Soon he was laughing so hard he was in tears.
"Say it again!" Davy begged.
"Wanna go camping?"
Davy laughed so hard he fell out of the hammock. Micky also laughed hard.
"Can we?" Peter asked eagerly.
"Thanks Micky." Mike sighed.
"Anytime." Micky grinned.
Mike rolled his eyes. He then turned to Davy. "Look shotgun. You take as much time as you need to get yourself together. Watch tv or stay in bed. Whatever you need to do."
"Thanks Mike." Davy smiled.
Mike squeezed Davy's shoulder as he and Peter went outside.
"So how are you really doing?" Micky asked.
"I don't know. It's so weird without her here. I really miss her." Davy sighed softly.
"I know." Micky patted Davy's shoulder.
They heard someone bang on the door.
"I got it." Micky said getting up from the bandstand.
He was surprised to see Mr. Babbit.
"I was supposed to have given Davy this after the party, but I forgot."
"It's from Sarah." Micky grinned. "Thanks."
"Don't forget your rent's due in three weeks. Have a nice day." Mr.Babbit said.
"Well I was going to until you brought that up." Micky mumbled as he closed the door.
He walked over to Davy and handed him the letter.
"What's this?"
"It's from Sarah. Babbit forgot to give it to you."
Davy gasped as he quickly tore open the letter.
"Ill leave you alone so you can read it. Bye." Micky waved.
"Thanks. Bye." Davy said as he began to read the letter.
Dear, Davy. I've been wanting to say this to you for quite awhile. But I haven't had the courage. And that's thank you. Thank you for seeing the real me. Alot of guys never saw past the handicap thing. Yeah sometimes you said things you didn't mean. Like 'see you'. But you never freaked out about it. You always apologized quickly after saying them. I will always have a piece of you in my heart. Keep Micky out of trouble. Keep Peter sweet, and also out of the woods. And get Mike to relax once and awhile. As for you, you better stay the sweet guy you are. I'll be seeing you. Sarah.
Davy smiled as he put the letter back.
You saw me too Sarah. You saw me too. he thought.
The end.
