The day flew quickly for Sarah, and night came. The thought of sleep terrified her.
"I'm afraid to close my eyes." Sarah's eyes welled with tears.
"I'll be here." Davy assured her taking her hand.
"Do you think you can stay here until I fall asleep?" Sarah asked.
"Sure."
"Thank you." Sarah let out a relieved sigh.
The two didn't say much. Davy just assured her that he would stay until she felt relaxed. Then he would come by in the morning. Sarah couldn't wait until then. She could go home. A few minutes passed and Sarah felt herself relax.
"It's okay Davy. You can go home." Sarah said.
No answer.
"Davy?" she turned to where he was sitting and seen his eyes were closed.
Oh Micky's going to have a field day with him in the morning. Sarah thought with a chuckle.
Soon she was also asleep.
"Well don't you two look cute." Micky asked as he entered Sarah's room.
Sarah opened her eyes and groaned. "For the record we didn't do anything."
"I believe you. How can you sleep with his head on your bed though. He's loud!" Micky laughed.
"Am not." Davy mumbled.
"Are you awake?" Micky asked.
"Leave me alone." Davy mumbled sleepily.
"Can't. Sarah's parents are right outside. You may want to wake up now."
Davy lifted his head up and rubbed his eyes. "I'm up. So how worried was Mike when I didn't come home?"
"He knew you were here. By the way, you look lovely." Micky snickered.
Davy began to fix his hair. "You're no beauty yourself in the morning you know. I need coffee."
"It shows." Micky smirked.
Later that day Sarah was released and she and the Monkees spent the whole day swimming, and playing valleyball. Soon it grew dark and she and Davy went for a walk looking at all the stars and moon.
"See you tomorrow." Davy grinned.
"And hear." she replied with a grin.
The two laughed and Davy went home.
Davy stumbled downstairs sleepily. He wasn't sure what woke him up. Then he heard someone knocking on the door.
"Sarah? It's only five a.m." Davy yawned.
"I know. I wanted to see the sunrise. Wanna watch it with me?" Sarah asked.
"Not really." Davy let out another big yawn.
"Yes you do." she grabbed his arm half dragging him outside.
"I'm barefooted."
"We're only walking on the beach. You should be okay."
The two sat in the sand. Davy shivered from the chill in the in the air. Soon the sky lightened. And the colors appeared. Pink and orange. Then blue.
"Wow. I used to watch the sunrise all the time in England when I was training to be a jockey. The mornings are quite beautiful aren't they?" Davy asked.
"That's why I wanted you to see it. I've missed the colors so much." Sarah smiled.
"Now you can see them everyday. Some people aren't that lucky." Davy said with a sad smile.
"I know. I've been doing alot of thinking these past few weeks. I think I maybe become a teacher."
"That's a great idea. There's alot of places who could use a teacher." Davy grinned.
"Yeah, a teacher for the blind. Or just some place who needs some help. Be a teacher there you know."
"That's a great idea." Davy nodded.
Sarah let out a soft sigh. "Janet heard about all the trouble Africa is having. It seems like everyone forgot about them and she wants to live there to try to get them some help. She wants me too go."
Davy was stunned. "Are you going to go?"
"They really need help Davy. I got my sight back and I want to put it to use. Maybe that's why all this happened."
"So you're going?"
"I don't know. I just said I was thinking about it."
"What about us?" Davy demanded.
"Look Davy, if I do decide to go we don't have to break up or anything!"
"What would you call it?! You're moving halfway acrossed the world! When I moved here I didn't stay with any of my old girlfriends! It's too hard!" Davy yelled.
"Well that's you, not me. I really care for you Davy! But I also thought that you of all people would understand." Sarah sighed.
"Well I don't." "We don't have to break up. I care for you very much. I don't want to lose you." Sarah said softly.
"So you're going?"
"I don't know." Sarah said with tears in her eyes.
"Right. Have fun." Davy said coldly.
With that he entered the pad and went upstairs. He sank into his bed and looked around making sure his roomates were still asleep.
Good they are. he thought as he felt a few tears escape from his eyes.
