"She had on a pair of sunglasses! Everytime I spoke to her, she turned her head towards me! I also don't remember seeing a cane or anything!" Davy cried.
"Calm down. So are you going to call her?" Mike asked.
"I don't know." Davy admitted.
"If you like this girl you should see her for who she is. Not for her handicap." Peter pointed out.
Davy groaned. "You're right Pete. I'll call her tomorrow."
"Good. So how'd the date go with Donna?" Mike asked.
"Don't ask."
"Aw, so the wedding's off huh?" Micky asked with a giggle.
"Shut up moptop!"
"Can we go camping?" Peter asked.
"I said we'd see!"
"You shut up! Midget!"
"All you need is love." Peter began to sing.
Davy sat by the phone debating on whether or not if he would call Sarah. Micky
walked next to him and smiled.
"It doesn't do tricks."
Davy jumped. "Don't do that!"
"What's the matter?"
Davy sighed. "I'm-"
"Did you call Sarah yet?" Peter asked.
"I'm working on it." Davy muttered.
"Do you like her?" Micky asked.
"Sure I like her. She's pretty, nice, and makes me laugh." Davy smiled.
"Then what's the problem?" Peter frowned.
"Nothing."
"So call her." Mike said entering the room.
Davy nodded. "You guys are right."
He picked up the phone and noticed his friends were still sitting there watching him.
"I don't need an audience!" Davy cried.
"Oh, sorry." Mike said.
He and Peter quickly left the room. Micky however stayed there looking engerly at Davy.
"Out!" Davy cried.
"Aw fine. I'll just read about it in your journal later." Micky smirked.
He left the room before Davy could throw something at him. Davy dialed Sarah's number and drew a breath.
"Hello?"
"Sarah? It's me Davy. How are you?" Davy asked.
"Hi. I was hoping you'd call. How are you?"
"Fine. Um...are you doing anything?"
"Right now?" Sarah asked.
"Yeah...well, I mean um if you're not busy-"
"I make you nervous don't I?" Sarah couldn't help but ask.
"No! Well yeah alittle." Davy had to admit.
"Thank you for being honest. But you don't have to be nervous around me." Sarah said.
"Well maybe we can go to the zoo. Or something."
"Okay. How about you pick me up at two." Sarah suggested.
"Great. I'll see you then." Davy said after he got directions. He hung up with a sigh.
Why does her blindness bother me? he thought feeling horrible.
