Suddenly it all came back to Mike. He remember where he knew Beth from only her name was not Beth is was Hillary. It was about a year ago when the Monkees were playing at a party on the rich side of town. The Monkees were on break and Mike had been searching for the bathroom. He had ended up getting lost somewhere up stairs. He heard piano music coming from one of the many rooms and followed it. He had been entranced by it. Never had he heard such beautiful playing. When he found the room the door was slightly ajar. He pecked inside and saw a beautiful blonde in a red party dress sitting at the piano playing Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. Once she was done Mike entered the room.

"That was beautiful?"Hillary jumped at the sudden break of consideration. She turned to face Mike.

"Where did you come from? Who are you?" Hillary demanded.

"I'm Mike a member of the band that is playing tonight."

"I'm Hillary" Hillary put her hand out for Mike to shake which he took.

"Why aren?' you down there with the rest of the people?" Mike asked curiously.

"I hate these parties my parents feel they have to throw." Mike sat down beside Hillary on the piano bench. Hillary jumped a little at the shock of Mike sitting close to her. "To tell you the truth I've become bored of parties like these. Always the same people, always the same old conversation."

"Then why do you come?"

"Because my mother tells me I have to keep up my social standards"

"It seems like your mother has power over what you do."

"Yes and I hate it. I've only got another year and then I am off to university but even then my mother is making me study the piano. If I haven't been doing it all my life I have to take it there. She just says I'm not good enough, I need more practice."

"Well I think you play beautifully. So what do you really want to study?"

"I want to become a doctor but my mother thinks that is no place for a woman."

"Does your mother not relize that it is the 60's and more and more women are becoming things like doctors and lawers."

"I have told her but she never listens. She is very caught up in her ways of life." Hillary let out a sigh.

"Maybe you should just do it. Tell her how much you want it." Mike put his hand on her shoulder. Hillary's head snapped to look at Mike. Their eyes locked. Mike closed his eyes and lended in to kiss her. Just as their lips where about to touch the door swung open.

"Hillary what are you doing!" Hillary's head instantly went to the door.

"Mother, I was- I was just playing the piano."

"Well it doesn't look like you where just playing the piano young lady. Down stairs now!"

"Yes mother" Hillary got up and started for the door. Mike watched as she left the room.

"And you young man I am not paying you to be romancing my daughter. Please take it upon yourself to stay away from my daughter." She turned and left leaving Mike to adsorb what had just happened.

Mike snapped back to reality when he heard someone call his name.

"Mike, hey Mike?" Mike turned to see Peter coming up behind him.

"Hey Pete what's up?"

"Well we need one more for volleyball and was just wondering if you wanted to play?"

"Yeah sure" Mike pushed Hillary from his mind. He had made up his mind; he wasn't going to tell Hillary that he knew who she was.
