Chapter 2

Peter stirred in his bed. He rolled over and was surprised to see that Davy's bed hadn't been slept in. A glance at the clock told Peter it was 6:00 a.m. and he was immediately concerned. He kicked the covers off and ran up the steps to Micky and Mike's room. He threw open the door without knocking.

"Huh? Wha-," Micky mumbled sleepily.

"Guys, wake up. Davy didn't come home last night. It's 6:00 and I'm worried," Peter said.

Mike propped himself up on one elbow. "Are you sure, Pete? He didn't come in at all?"

"Well, he didn't go to bed at all. He had a date with Cherrie but didn't call to say he wasn't coming home. That's not like him." Peter was truly concerned about his friend.

Micky was still on his back with his eyes closed. His brown curly hair was adorably mussed. "Peter, Davy's a big boy. He probably just lost track of the time. Cherrie has that effect on him, y'know." Micky smiled a slow, lazy grin. He knew Davy was really gone on Cherrie.

They all teased him about how often he got starry-eyed over a girl, but Cherrie was different. Davy hadn't seen or even talked about anyone but her for six weeks. Whenever the group wasn't recording, rehearsing, or playing gigs, he was with Cherrie. This was serious.

"Yeah, Mick, he is in outer space over her, but I'm with Peter. It isn't like him to not let us know what's going on." Mike swung his long legs out of bed and reached for his jeans. "We better check on him."

Micky, who wasn't a morning person, groaned but knew they weren't about to let him go back to sleep. "When we find him, I'm gonna belt him. I was in the middle of a great dream where I had built the most fantastic house. It was so outasight that The Beatles were gonna fly over here and film it for their next movie. I was just about to shake hands with Paul when you woke me up. You dirty rat!"

Peter laughed at Micky's Cagney face. His darling dimples played on his cheeks. "Sorry, Micky. Next time take a picture so you can mail it to Paul."

Micky playfully punched Peter's shoulder and said, "Ha ha, Peter. I'll be looking for you in the funny papers. Get going!"
