Rated PG-13 to the end of the story
The minutes passed by slowly for the three Monkees as they paced the room. They had no way of knowing if the antibiotics would work or if Davy was too far gone to be cured. Boris simply stood facing Davy, no emotion over the recent events were seen on his face. Mike, Peter and Micky were wary of Boris' sudden violent mood swings and tried to stay away from him as much as possible. Davy hardly moved at all, he simply breathed in short, deep breaths.
After about an hour, the waiting was getting too much for Peter to bear and he started to cry.
"What if this doesn't work?" He sobbed, "What if he needs more drugs? What if Davy needed that last pill I took?"
"Peter, we have to just hope it all works out." Micky said, holding Peter's shoulders, "We've done all that we can do."
Davy suddenly groaned. "Fellas..."
His friends rushed over to him
"How are you feeling, Davy?" Peter asked.
Davy lifted his head, and the others could see that he was beginning to look human again. The fur on his face and hands were beginning to drop by clumps onto the floor.
"I feel...okay." He said, his voice no longer gruff. "What am I doing here?" Davy asked, looking around. He gasped when he saw Boris standing a few feet from him.
"It's okay, Davy." Micky said cautiously, sneaking a glance at Boris.
"Yeah, we're at the end of a very long nightmare." Mike smiled.
"Correction!" The voice of Dr. Mendoza shouted, "Your nightmare is not over yet!"
The Monkees and Boris turned to see Dr. Mendoza standing there, a gun in his hand. Boris began to growl and the Monkees looked at him in shock.
"You're supposed to be dead!" Micky exclaimed.
"Fool! It takes more than a bullet to kill me!" Dr. Mendoza said.
Davy noticed a movement behind Boris, and realized at the last second it was Groot.
"Boris, watch out!" Davy shouted.
But before Boris could turn around, Groot jumped onto his back and clamped metal caps around the bolts in Boris' ears, then jumped off. There was a arc of electricity between the caps and Boris began to shake. His knees then buckled and he collapsed onto the floor, unmoving.
"Hee hee, the bigger they are the harder they fall, right master?" Groot asked.
"Shut up, Groot." Dr. Mendoza snapped, then walked over to the Monkees.
"Just when we thought you couldn't get any more low." Mike said.
The evil doctor fired his gun into the air. "I should just shoot you four right now for all the problems you've caused." He said, his voice shaking with rage, "You've ruined all my experiments, my werewolf is dead, my dear Nadia is dead!" He cried. "But I can still do one last experiment!"
"What's that?" Peter asked.
"I'm going to see how much electricity your bodies can tolerate before they explode!" Dr. Mendoza shouted.
"No, Master!" Groot cried, "Let me cut them up, piece by piece, starting with that one!" He said, pointing at Mike.
"NO!" The evil scientist yelled, "They will die the way I decide they will die! So strap them back onto the board, NOW!"
With a sullen look on his face, Groot obeyed, shoving the men onto the board and then strapped them in the same order they had been strapped into the first time, then forced metal hats onto their heads. When he got to Davy, the last one in line, he saw that Davy was already strapped to the board. Groot looked at Davy for a moment, put the hat on him and gave him a small knowing smile. Then he then limped away. Taking advantage of this, Davy used the last of his werewolf strength to slowly free his arms from the board.
Doctor Mendoza and Groot then stood Boris up. Boris' eyes were open, but staring straight ahead. They walked him over to his board across the room and strapped him up as well.
"He's still alive?" Mike asked.
"Oh yes, quite so." The evil doctor replied, "I just had Groot short circuit his brain temporarily. When he comes out of it, he should be back to his normal state...before you four arrived."
"Or what's normal for you." Micky sneered.
"Groot!" Dr. Mendoza yelled.
"Yes, Master?" Groot replied.
"Set the electrode pressure to maximum!" The evil doctor shouted.
Groot immediately turned the appropriate knob and the machine began to hum. The Monkees stiffened up on their board.
"Turn the co-axial knob to full!" Dr. Mendoza continued.
"Yes, master!" Groot shouted back.
"Put the input/output level at eleven!"
Groot did what he had been told.
"Now put the woofer-tweeter on high!" The evil doctor shouted and then walked over to the switch which would send the electrical current through his captives' bodies.
"Now I shall throw the switch..." Dr. Mendoza said, then pushed the switch down. The humming slowly turned into a whine and the evil doctor smiled as electricity began pouring into his captives.
