Note: From here to the end, the story starts to drift into PG-13 territory.
Micky, Mike and Peter quietly walked into the darkened pad, carrying their instruments.
"Other than Davy getting sick, the night went pretty good." Mike said quietly.
"Yeah, I only broke one guitar string." Peter replied.
"I'm glad the manager was understanding..." Micky began but was cut off by the lights suddenly coming on. In the middle of the pad stood Dr. Mendoza!
"Come in, come in!" Dr. Mendoza said, "I've been expecting you!"
The three Monkees dropped their instruments in shock. The front door slammed shut behind them, and the three men turned to see Groot standing there, a leer on his face and gun in his hand.
"Where's Davy?" Mike demanded of the doctor, "What did you do with him?"
"He's safe in my laboratory...for now." Dr. Mendoza replied, "You'll see him again soon."
"But...but our landlord said Davy was here!" Micky exclaimed.
The evil doctor stepped aside to reveal Mr. Babbitt behind him. Babbitt was tied to a chair with a gag in his mouth.
"You mean him?" Dr. Mendoza smiled, "Yes, he was very helpful in fooling you into thinking your little friend was safe."
"Don't hurt him, Dr. Mendoza." Peter said, "I mean...he's an un-nice man, but..."
"Oh I'm only interested in you Monkees." Dr. Mendoza said. He pulled what looked like a stethoscope out of his pocket and then the gag out of Babbitt's mouth.
"Please, no..." Babbitt whimpered.
"Shut up, fool." Dr. Mendoza snapped and put the device next to Babbitt's neck. "You will remember nothing."
"I will remember nothing." Babbitt echoed, staring straight ahead.
"Good." Dr. Mendoza said, untying the landlord, "Go back to your house and go to bed. When you wake up in the morning, you will not wonder was has happened to the Monkees."
Without a word, Babbitt got up from his chair and Groot let him out of the pad. The evil doctor then addressed his prisoners.
"Now Monkees, we will go back to my castle. You left so suddenly last time, and I didn't get the chance to continue my experiments."
"Not a chance." Mike said.
Doctor Mendoza simply shrugged and pulled a gun out of his coat pocket.
"Very well, I can do my experiments without this one." He pointed his gun at Peter.
"NO!" Micky and Mike shouted, standing in front of Peter.
"So, you'll come quietly?" Dr. Mendoza asked.
Groot then shoved his gun into Mike's back.
"Yes, we'll come quietly." Mike said.
"Very well." The doctor said, "Open the door, Groot."
Groot opened the front door and gestured with his gun for the three Monkees to go out. They did so, and Dr. Mendoza followed them all outside, making sure the lights were off and the door was closed.
"We'll take my car, gentlemen." The evil doctor said, and the three Monkees were led over to Dr. Mendoza's battered car.
"What a wreck." Mike remarked.
"Shut up and get in the driver's seat." Dr. Mendoza snapped.
Peter was told to sit in the front seat with Mike while Dr. Mendoza and Groot sat on either side of Micky in the back seat. Doctor Mendoza and Groot kept their guns on their captives the whole time.
"Drive to my castle, Mr. Nesmith." Dr. Mendoza told him, "You know the way."
Mike turned the key on the ignition and the car coughed to life.
"Sounds like a wreck too." Mike muttered.
The evil doctor then jammed his gun into the back of Mike's skull.
"If you try to delay us or bring attention to yourself, your curly-haired friend will suffer the consequences." He said, "Am I clear?"
"Crystal clear." Mike swallowed. He put the car into gear and drove off.
---------
After a long, tense and silent drive, Mike pulled Dr. Mendoza's car up to the doctor's castle. As they got out of the car, it started to rain once again. The three Monkees looked for an opportunity to escape, but Dr. Mendoza and Groot were vigilante in watching them.
Nadia was obviously watching for them to arrive, since she opened the door as the group approached.
"Hello, daughter." Dr. Mendoza said, "Any trouble from the little one?"
"None, father." Nadia replied, "I'm glad you were able to get the others."
"Of course." Her father answered, "Their landlord was most cooperative."
Peter stopped in front of Nadia, "Hello Nadia." Peter said, "Cancel my appointment for next week."
"Enough." Dr. Mendoza ordered, "Everyone down to my laboratory. Science must be served!"
The group, led by Nadia and Dr. Mendoza in the front and Groot in the rear, went down a passageway and through a doorway. Nadia turned the light on and Davy looked up from his board.
"Fellas, they got you too!" He cried out.
"Yes, young man." Dr. Mendoza replied as he walked past Nadia and led the group down the wooden stairs to floor. Mike was a few steps behind him. "I thought you might want some company."
Suddenly, Mike jumped forward off his step and landed on Dr. Mendoza, knocking him to the floor. Without stopping, Mike tore across the laboratory to the door across from the stairs. Micky and Peter made to run too, but Dr. Mendoza had his gun on them in an instant.
"Go Mike, run!" Davy shouted.
Groot fired his gun at Mike but missed, and Mike was gone.
"Stop, you fool!" Dr. Mendoza shouted, "You might hit my delicate instruments! Give your gun to Nadia and go after him."
Groot did so and quickly hobbled after Mike, while Dr. Mendoza and his daughter strapped Micky and Peter to the upright board next to Davy in the same positions that they were in previously.
