Chapter 4

After talking among themselves, the guys had settled down for their first night of sleeping under the stars when...

“Agh! Agh! Mike! Mike! There’s—there’s a little person standin’ by tha’ tree! She—she winked at me!” Davy yelled and promptly woke the entire group.

“What are you talkin’ ‘bout, Davy?” a groggy Mike asked after being awakened from a sound sleep.

“I thought I ‘eard somethin’ walkin’ through the campsite. At first I thought it was an animal. Then—then I saw it, er, ‘er. It was a little person with big slanted eyes, wings, pointed ears and she was dressed in a green tunic with pointed green shoes an’ green tights!” Davy said breathlessly.

“Like Peter Pan?” Micky asked wiping the sleep from his eyes.

“Yes, yeah, ‘cept it was a girl,” Davy answered.

“Davy, be reasonable. Even I know Peter Pan is a boy!” Peter stated. The other three Monkees turned to look at Peter.

“What?” Peter innocently asked.

“Davy, will ya calm down for Pete’s Sake. What you heard or saw was probably just some animal. There are no “little people” in the woods,” Mike said assuredly.

“Course not. You’re the only little person here,” Micky snickered.

“Ha-Ha. Very funny, Mick,” Davy said still looking around the area. “Guys, she was standing right there and she winked at me!”

“Must be missing the chicks back home,” Micky said as he stretched in his sleeping bag.

“She was here and she was real,” Davy protested.

“Well, it just goes to show,” Micky yawned. “Little people attract little people.”

“Humph! I don’t care wha’ ‘e says, I saw ‘er. Uh, Mike?” Davy asked.

“Yeah?” Mike asked.

“Uh, can I sleep next to you?” Davy asked.

“Oh alright, but I wanna get some sleep!” Mike warned.

“OK, mate!” Davy said as he placed his sleeping bag next to Mike.

“G’night,” Peter said as he settled down.

“G’night,” Davy answered.

“G’night, Davy,” Mike yawned.

“G’night,” Davy answered.

“G’night, elf-boy,” Micky snickered.

“Why you-------,” Davy started.

“GOOD NIGHT!!,” Mike roared.

All was quiet in the campsite, but if they had listened carefully, they would have heard the tiny giggling of Nissa.
