“Although I am human-like, I am also very strong, Perhaps more so that you humans,” Astrid explained as she placed the couch on the floor. “Since my arrival has startled you, it is obvious that you need time to discuss me among yourselves. I will convert to “sleep mode.” In this state I cannot hear or speak. I will set my timer for one hour. You may discuss me now.” Astrid’s eyes closed and she stood perfectly still.
“Wha—wha’ do we do now? Davy asked.
“We talk, like she said,” Mike answered. The Monkees all sat down at the table and the discussion began.
“Did ya see her pick up that couch?” Micky asked.
“Yeah, she sure is strong!” Peter said turning to look at the still standing girl.
“Well, we gotta decide what to do with her. We got her for six months!” Mike reminded the guys.
“I think she’s kinda cute,” Peter said.
“She’s a robot,” Davy reminded him.
“Android, and human-like,” Peter corrected him.
“Guys, I believe the topic of discussion is what we are going to do with her,” Mike said.
“Oh man!! What if Babbit finds out? How do we keep him from her for the next six months?” Micky asked.
“We could say she’s a relative,” Peter suggested.
“That’s a thought, but we still have a problem. She’s not like other girls. We can’t have her goin’ around picking up heavy objects like cars or something,” Mike said.
Sequence Flash: Astrid is holding the Monkeemobile with the Monkees in it and placing it is a parking space with shocked onlookers staring in disbelief.
“She’ll just have to cool the strong acts when we’re out in public,” Davy offered.
“Whose relative should we say she is?” Mike asked!
“I’ll say she’s my cousin,” Micky said. After all, I’m the one responsible for her being here so it’s only fair.”
The others agreed that Astrid would be Micky’s cousin from Berkley. They went on to decide that they would transform the extra room they used for storage for her use. In thirty minutes, and with a little Monkee Magic, it was a beautiful room fit for a young girl.
Astrid’s eyes opened. The hour was up.
“What did you decide, Michael Nesmith?” she asked.
“Welcome to 1967. We are gonna say you’re Micky’s cousin. An’ its Mike,” Mike answered.
“Thank you, Mich, uh Mike,” Astrid smiled.
“Er yeah, for starters, you don’t have to call us by our full names. You’ll fit in better if you don’t.” Davy offered.
“Of course, Davy. There is much to learn about your time, but I know I will enjoy my stay here,” Astrid said.
“Um, your clothes,” Peter said. “We have to do something about the way you’re dressed.
“Oh, as I have said, I have researched your time and I have the appropriate clothes. May I change now?” Astrid asked.
“Sure, sure. We fixed up a room for you,” Peter said as he directed Astrid to it. “We hope you like it.”
“Oh, I read about rooms like this. This is perfect. I won’t be long,” Astrid said as she entered the room.
“Well, we have ‘er for six months,” Davy said.
“Yeah,” Micky added. “What could happen in six months?”
“Those just may be famous last words,” Mike told them.
“I think it’s gonna be great!” Peter added.
