Chapter 4

About an hour later, Sue and Elizabeth Martin arrived back at the amusement park. Judy and Matthew had since gone home.

"Hello, boys!" Sue called out.

"Sorry we're late, it took longer then I thought," Elizabeth explained.

"Oh, that's alright," Mike said, "Did you find everything you needed?"

"Oh, yes! We got everything for Mom." Sue replied.

"I hope your mother feels better soon," Peter said kindly.

"Thank you, Peter," Elizabeth said.

"How was your day, boys?" asked Sue.

"Great!" Davy said, "We had a lot of fun with Judy and Matt."

"Hey, Sue, Liz, we've kind of got somethin' to tell you," Mike started.

"What is it, Mike?" Sue asked.

"Well, it's about the merry go-round-" Mike began, when suddenly he remembered Micky.

"Have you guys seen Micky?" The Texan asked.

His band mates shook their heads.

"He'll show up," Davy said, "Tell them about your idea."

"Your idea?" the sisters asked.

"We're going to fix the merry go-round!" Peter exclaimed happily.

"You're what?" Sue asked.

"We were thinkin' about doin' a concert to rise money so you could have the rides fixed," Mike explained.

"Oh, boys, you...you couldn't!" Elizabeth cried.

"Sure we could!" Mike insisted, "This is something we want to do. You ladies are so nice-"

"But, Mike! We couldn't except it!" Elizabeth protested.

"Now, Liz, calm down," Sue told her sister, taking her aside.

All of the sudden, Micky came up to his band mates.

"Hi," he greeted them.

"Micky!" Mike yelled, jumping a mile.

"You shouldn't sneak up like that, Mick." Davy said.

"Sorry," Micky said.

"Where have you been?" Mike asked.

"Just around the park. Why?" the drummer replied.

"We have good news for you!" Peter said, "About the merry go-round!"

"Not so fast, Pete," Davy warned, "We don't know if Sue and Liz will accept the offer."

"What offer?" Micky asked.

"About the merry go-round." Mike said, "Now, look, we're gonna do it no matter what they say."

"What about the merry go-round?" Micky asked again.

"Mike, you can't just force people to do something!" said Davy.

"Force them to do what?" Micky asked yet again.

"Go along with Mike's plan." Peter said, "I think they will accept it. It would be rude not to."

"What plan?" asked the very confused drummer.

"Mike's plan!" Davy and Peter said together.

"Everyone just cool it," Mike said, "Now will you listen, Micky."

Micky started to speak but decided against it.

The Monkees huddled up and Mike explained his idea.

By this time, Sue and Elizabeth had figured out what to do.

"Mike," Sue called out.

"Yes?" he said, turning around.

"Liz and I have come to a decision. We will let you go though with your concert on one condition."

"Which is?" all four Monkees asked eagerly.

"That any extra money you make, you keep for yourselves." Sue informed.

"It's a deal!" Mike said, "We'll take care of everything. Right now we have to be going home."

"Sue and I better head home, too," Elizabeth said, "Boys, thank you so much. For everything."

"No problem, miss." Mike said with a wink.

With that, The Monkees began their walk home, all the time Micky talking about the concert.
