"Hi." Peter said nervously.
"Have you ever wanted to see the future? I can show you it." the man said.
"I guess everyone does." Peter replied.
"Well tomorrow you will get your wish." the man said.
That night Peter told his roommates Micky Dolenz, Mike Nesmith, and
Davy Jones about what the man had said. They laughed.
"Oh Peter. That guy was pulling your chain. He doesn't have the power to show you the future." Mike lectured.
"I guess you're right. Tomorrow will be no different." Peter said.
That night Peter and Davy entered their room.
"Good night Peter." Davy yawned.
"Night Dave." Peter smiled. Then frowned. He couldn't help the
nervous feeling that was washing over his body.
The next morning Peter awoke and quietly got dressed. He glanced
over at Davy hoping he hadn't woken him up. He then entered the
kitchen.
"Morning." Mike said with a yawn.
"When did you get up?" Peter asked.
"Just now."
Peter started making silver dollar pancakes. "Hey. Can you watch these? I'm going to get the paper."
"Sure." Mike said walking towards the stove.
"Thanks."
Peter walked out on the back porch and grabbed the newspaper. He unfolded it and looked at the date. He gasped. The date on the newspaper was August 8,2005.
"2005?!" Peter exclaimed.
He raced inside.
"Mike!"
"What?" Mike asked flipping over a pancake.
"Look at the date! Look at the date!" Peter yelled.
"This better be important." Micky mumbled as he walked down the stairs.
Davy came out from the downstairs bedroom yawning. "What's going on?"
"Maybe it's a mistake." Mike pointed out.
"What's burning?" Davy asked.
"Breakfast." Mike sighed.
"Now what do we eat?" Peter asked.
"We'll eat cereal. Micky gets the pancakes." Davy said.
"They're burnt!" Peter exclaimed.
"Think that matters to Micky?" Davy laughed.
"Shut up midget." Micky yawned.
"Why don't you two go get dressed and we'll go to McDonald's or
something." Mike suggested.
After Davy and Micky changed the four went to McDonald's.
"Why is everyone staring at us?" Peter whispered.
"We're the Monkees. We get the funniest looks from everyone we meet." Micky started to sing.
"Micky. Cool it." Mike sighed.
"Since when does McDonald's have so many choices?" Davy wondered out loud.
"Got me." Micky said with a shiver.
"May I help...you?" a woman asked giving them a weird look.
"Um we'll take four orders of pancakes, and four cups of coffee. And um what's the date?" Mike asked.
"August 8th."
"What year?" Davy asked.
"2005."
The four whimpered.
"Are you guys okay?" she asked sounding concerned.
"Yeah. We'll be fine." Peter said whimpering.
The four each grabbed their meal and sat at a booth.
"You know. This might be interesting." Davy smiled.
"Or frightening." Peter shivered.
"Either way we're stuck here until we find out what's going on. So
we might as well make the best of it." Mike said sipping his coffee.
After they ate breakfast the Monkees split up to check things out.
"Okay. Davy and I will take that store. Micky, you and Peter go over there. We'll met back here in a half hour."
"Okay." Peter said.
"Let's go." Mike said tapping Davy's shoulder.
Mike and Davy entered a empty building.
Davy gasped. "Mike! That tv's almost as big as I am."
Mike's eyes grew wide. He looked around.
"I don't see anybody. Why don't you turn it on?" he whispered.
"Why are you whispering?" Davy asked.
"I have no idea."
Davy rolled his eyes as he turned the tv on. Beavis and Butthead were on.
"Yeah! Yeah! Fight!" Beavis said.
"Yeah. Kick his ass." Butthead added.
Mike and Davy gasped.
"I thought this was a cartoon?!" Mike said in shock.
Davy changed the channel.
"Now you found out your boyfriend is having an affair with your sister?" Jerry Springer asked.
"Yeah that's right!" a girl in her late twenties exclaimed.
"Who's her boyfriend having an affair with?" Mike asked.
"Let's bring her out! Your sister Beth." Jerry waved a hand.
The audience booed and hissed.
"You-" a bunch of beeps went off. They grabbed each other's hair.
"What in the world?!" Mike exclaimed with a light laugh.
Davy changed the channel.
"I love you! You love me!" Barney sang.
"Change it before I have nightmares." Davy shivered.
Laughing Mike changed the channel for Davy.
"Last night on American idol." the announcer off fox said.
"Well?" a nervous girl asked.
"You go girl!" said Paula Abdul.
"You're getting there." Randy Jackson added with a smile.
Simon Cowell sighed. "How do I start?"
Davy smiled. "Hey, he's british like me."
"You're improving but have along way to go."
"That was harsh." Mike said.
"Bad britty." Davy lectured.
Mike laughed. "He wasn't that bad."
Davy clicked the tv off. "Let's try something else."
"Hey look." Mike walked over to a computer. Davy followed.
"Turn it on." Davy grinned.
"Please type in your password." Mike read. "Sounds easy." Mike grinned. "Your password." he said as he typed it.
"Please type in your password." he read again. "I did!"
"Maybe it has to be in all caps. That's what this button says." Davy explained. He clicked the button. Mike typed in YOUR PASSWORD. He clicked enter. "Please type in your password." he read. He clicked the computer off.
"That thing's confusing." he sighed.
"You're telling me." Davy laughed. "I wonder how Peter and Micky are doing?"
