Chapter 20

"Goodbye Beba!" They all called out as they left Beba's home.

"Bye boys, don't go fightin' any Snakes, ya hear?!" Then she shut the door.

"Is she really a witch?" David asked Peter.

"Of course not." Peter told him. "They only thought she was."

"How do you know her?"

"It's a long story. Right now I just want to go home and have dinner." Then he turned to George. "I sure am glad that you're okay."

"You'll be even more happy after I tell ya the news."

His friends stopped then George turned to face all of them. "Now I'm a Christian too!"

His friends ran to him and shook his hand, patted his back and congratulated him then George told them his story of what happened after the Bosherling Snake attacked him. By the time he was done with his story they made it out of the forest and saw their Kingdom.

"Home at last." David said then they saw Valerie.

"Where's the Stag?" She asked them.

"Uh, we didn't get a Stag." Michael answered.

"But there's a very good reason for it!" George said, then he started to explain, super fast. "You see, we ran into a giant Bosherling Snake even though there aren't supposed to be any and I died and there were Angels and now I'm not died, I mean dead, and we saw Beba who hit me with her walking stick and then we came here and I'm hungry so what's to eat?"

----

"What was she so upset about?" David asked as they all cleaned one of the rooms in the castle.

"She did say to not come back until we caught a Stag." Michael answered.

"But that's no reason why we should be forced to clean the castle." George said as he looked at the floor that he had just finished scrubbing. "Well, I'm done. How many more rooms are there to clean?"

"499." Peter answered.

"Forget I asked."

----

Roxanne walked through the forest until she found a cave which she entered. She liked to sit alone and think to herself and she knew she was safe because dragons and bosherlings were close to being extinct. She sat against the cave wall as she thought to herself when she heard a small yelp, like a baby animal.

Carefully Roxanne got up and walked further into the cave. It was pitch black, so she lit a candle then she screamed. In front of her was a dead dragon. Roxanne dropped her candle and the light went out. She picked it up again and tried to light it when something rushed by her and she fell over.

"Who's there?!" Roxanne shouted as she looked around.

She was finally able to light the candle and in front of her was a baby dragon.

Roxanne tried to scream but she was too scared to.

The baby dragon stared at her then started to rub against her like a cat. She petted the reptile's tail then the baby dragon lay down next to her and fell asleep.

Roxanne looked at the dead dragon then at the baby.

"Was that your Mother?" She asked as the baby started to snore.

Roxanne picked up the baby dragon and ran back home as the dragon slept in her arms.

----

"Now only 294 more rooms to go." Michael told them and they all groaned.

"Why don't we split up?" David asked. "That way we'll be done faster."

"Sounds good to me." George said then they split up to clean different rooms.

"Psst."

George looked around and no one was there, so he continued to clean the floor.

"Psst!"

"What?" George asked then he saw Roxanne come out from behind a curtain.

"Roxanne, what are you-?"

"Shh!" Roxanne covered George's mouth with her hand. "George, I need you to keep something for me. I would keep it but I have nowhere to keep it. Okay?"

George nodded then she removed her hand from his mouth.

"What is it?" George asked.

Roxanne moved the curtain aside and behind it the baby dragon was sleeping.

"That's a-a-a-" Then George fainted.

----

When he woke up the baby dragon was on his chest, staring at him.

"Don't be scared George." Roxanne said then the dragon ran over to Roxanne and rubbed against her legs. "I found this baby dragon in a cave with a dead dragon. I think it was his Mother."

"What makes you think I can keep a dragon?!" George asked. "I do love animals and I would keep him but there's nowhere to put him."

"I'm sure you can think of something. Bye." Roxanne started to leave.

"Wait, you can't leave me here with-!"

"It's okay, I know you can think of something. You're a very wise, handsome and wonderful man."

"That's true, but-"

"I have to go. See you later."

Then Roxanne left. The baby dragon started to run toward her then stopped and started to whimper.

"Okay," George told himself. "Where do I keep a baby dragon?" He looked down and the dragon was staring at him. "Come on you." George said and the dragon followed him around the castle.

Finally they came to the royal stable.

"Okay," George told the baby reptile. "You are to stay here until I find a better place for you. Okay? Wait." Then a horrible thought came to George. What if the dragon spit out fire and burned the stable down? There's no way the dragon can stay here.

"George?"

George heard David call him. He quickly grabbed the dragon and buried him in some hay.

"George, what are you doing here?" David asked as he walked up to his friend. "We're supposed to clean."

"Right, I was cleaning in here. We do want to get on Valerie's good side."

Then they heard a small sneeze.

"What was that?" David asked.

"Uh, the horses!" George said as he started to push David out of the stable. "The horses have a cold, now if you'll excuse me I have to clean. Bye!"

David finally left and George breathed a sigh of relief, then the dragon sneezed again.

"Just my luck," George said. "I had to get a dragon who gets hay fever."
