Chapter 12

"Were you able to find Micky?" Asked Tory.

"Yeah," Said Davy. "But he's still wondering about the Little Pad Of Horrors story."

"Well, this isn't Little Pad Of Horrors, this is The Knightkees. So, lights, camera, ACTION!"

----

"I think we should do this." Michael said.

The four boys were now at Michael's house and talking about them being knights. Michael and Peter did most of the talking. Michael wanted to be a knight while Peter kept on saying they shouldn't, David also talked about being a knight and George kept his mouth shut. George had decided to go with the flow. If they decided not to be knights then great, if they did then there was nothing he could do about it. Besides, he already knew they would. Both Michael and David wanted to do it so it was two against one and he knew that Don wouldn't give up until he got his way.

"Do you know what knights do?" Peter asked. "They kill people!"

"They kill to defend their Kingdom, Peter." David said.

"And they kill for sport with those jousting tournaments."

"No they don't!"

"George, help me out here." Peter said.

"No, I'm not getting into this."

George got up and left the room.

"What's going on in there?" Phyllis asked George.

"Nothing much, just fighting with each other."

"Why aren't you in there?"

"Nothing I do will change anything."

"One person can change everything."

George leaned agenst the door.

"I've been wondering, why aren't you a knight? I mean, right now you can't because you're pregnant and everything but you can shoot an arrow better than anyone I know."

"I've wondered that sometimes. Something always holds me back I guess."

"You should be the one that they want to be a knight, not us."

"Do you want to be a knight?" Phyllis asked him.

"No. I hate the idea of killing anybody."

"Then you shouldn't."

George thought about what he should do. Should he just wait on what they decide or should he try to change things? Then he put on his biggest smile.

"Thanks Phil."

George shook her hand and ran back into the room where Michael, Peter and David were still fighting.

"Guys!"

They turned to look at George, who was smiling from ear to ear.

"We should be knights."

----

The next day they met Don and Valerie at the inn.

"Well, what did you decide?" Don asked them.

"We have decided to be knights." Michael told him.

"Wonderful, now-"

"But," George interrupted. "We have also decided that we will only join if we don't have to kill if we don't want to."

Don thought about this for a couple of minutes.

"Alright," Said Don. "It's a deal."

"I need to go." George said, and then he left the inn.

He ran to the pond, and then lay down in the grass. He did it; he was able to change things, to have it so that they became knights but didn't have to kill anyone. Or was it too easy? Was Don planning something?

"Why am I thinking that?" George asked himself, as he sat up. "I should be enjoying this."

But he couldn't shake off this feeling, the feeling that something was going to happen. Then somebody grabbed him from behind.

"Did you forget about us?"

It was Samantha and Roxanne.

"Two beautiful girls all for myself." George said.

"You're so silly." Roxanne said with a chuckle.

"Well, what happened?" Samantha asked him.

"We're going to be knights. But..."

"But what?" Roxanne asked him.

"I can't help but feel that we're walking into a trap."

----

After Michael, Peter and David had left the inn Don thought about the deal they had just made.

"They're such sweet boys." Valerie said. "Most knights only do it for money or to marry a princess so they can be King or-"

"Valerie." Don interrupted.

"Sorry."

Don was planning, thinking of how to get them ready to fight the battle to the death. He didn't have much time to do it so he had to work fast.
