One month later...
The Monkees came into their pad after yet another well-paying gig.
After Elizabeth had left, they had been getting offers left and right, so rent and food money was no longer a concern.
Still, they hadn't forgotten the lessons Elizabeth taught them.
The first thing they had done was join a nearby Christian Church, and each of them had long, private talks with the pastor. He was a pious man who gave them all practical advice to start on their journey with God. Next, they put aside a part of all the money they made at their gigs and donated it to different charities. Other times, they did benefit concerts with the proceeds going to charity.
Finally, the Monkees personally helped others, whether it was fixing a leaky faucet or mowing an elderly man's yard for free. Despite their sadness of Elizabeth leaving, the four of them felt good helping those in need. The Monkees were even nice to Mr. Babbitt!
Tonight, however, marked one month the angel had left them. Mike, Peter and Davy could see the sadness in Micky's eyes as he trudged upstairs to change out of his stage clothes. They wished they could say or do something to make him feel better, but the truth was, they all missed Elizabeth terribly. They only knew her a few days, but she had left such an impression, that her leaving left a huge hole in their hearts; especially Micky's.
The drummer quickly changed into shorts and a T-shirt and came down the hurricane steps.
"I'm going for a walk on the beach!" Micky called to his band mates.
"Ok, Mick." Davy replied.
Micky slowly walked to the place where he last saw Elizabeth. He looked up at the sky; the full moon was about to rise.
Micky watched as it came higher and higher on the horizon.
"Elizabeth, I miss you so much." Micky thought to himself. "I hope you're thinking of me too."
"You've never left my thoughts, Micky." A voice said to him.
Micky spun to his left....and there was Elizabeth, dressed in a silver and gold dress. He stood open-mouthed at her.
"Cat got your tongue?" Elizabeth teased.
Micky smiled and engulfed her in a bear hug.
"Oof! Micky! Let me breath!" She gasped.
Micky just slightly released her. "You're back!" He shouted.
"Yes I am, and I've been keeping tabs on you four." She replied.
"And how're we doing?" Micky asked.
"Fine, you boys and doing fine." The angel answered, "The Lord is pleased with you."
"That's good to know." Micky smiled, "So where are you now?"
"In Chicago." Elizabeth replied, "All that wind makes it hard for an angel to fly, but I'm managing." She joked.
Micky chuckled. "What else is new?"
"I think you and the others will be pleased to hear that Dr. Chronos, or Tim as he wants to be called now, is coming along fine as well. He's resigned his position at U.L.A, destroyed his equipment and burned his notes. Just a few days ago, he sold all his possessions and joined a seminary in Oklahoma. He's thinking of becoming a priest."
"I'm glad to hear that." Micky said sincerely, "And I think the others will be too."
"I have other news I think you'll be glad to hear as well." The angel said slyly.
"What? Tell me." Micky said.
"Well...I don't know..." Elizabeth teased again.
"Tell me or I'll tickle you." Micky threatened, putting his hands on her ribs.
Elizabeth giggled. "Ok, ok!" She said, then turned serious. "The Lord has granted my request to stay here."
It took a few seconds for Micky to absorb that. "You can stay here? In LA?"
Elizabeth nodded. "I'll still have my job to do, but I no longer have to roam the earth. There are plenty of people here who need my help. I'm getting an apartment only a few blocks from here."
Micky howled with happiness. He grabbed Elizabeth and swung her around.
"Micky! Put me down!" She yelled, "Don't you want to tell the others the good news?"
"You're right!" Micky exclaimed, "Let's go!" He took her hand and the two of them raced back to the pad to tell Mike, Peter and Davy.
