Chapter 11

(Beginning of Romp…..Intro to “For Pete’s Sake” Prince Halsten and his men are shown riding towards the palace. Helen pushes Peter aside and signals for the battle to begin. Helen skillfully jumps and flips as she fights the Queen’s army.

Sir Nigel and those loyal to the King join in. There is much sword play throughout the Great Hall.

Prince Halsten and his men arrive at the front of the palace and they prevent the Queen’s army from retreating as they fight their way inside. Inside, Helen sees the Queen’s Captain making an attempt to escape. After disarming her challenger, she runs and flips through the air to confront the man who caused her “death.” The two trade blows with their swords.

The scene changes to Prince Halsten and his men fighting their way into the main hall. Just as the bass begins to swell in the song, Helen is almost defeated by the Captain, but she manages to fight back and disarm him. Just at this moment, (the music stops) a booming voice can be heard: “Halt! In the name of the King! King’s Counsel, take these soldiers loyal to the Queen prisoners!” The King is standing on a ledge assisted by Nanny Flossie.

The music resumes and as it fades out…Helen runs toward Prince Halsten and together they flip to the ledge where the King is standing. Helen and Halsten are standing on each side of the King and they all lift their arms in victory. End of romp)

Meanwhile back at the Pad in the Woods. . .

Micky continued to pace the floor. He had found the note that Peter left explaining that he and Helen had gone to the palace.

“I’m worried, Mike!” Micky sniffled for the umpteenth time.

“I –I ‘m sure Peter’s alright. I mean, you know he doesn’t like violence,” Mike offered trying to sound positive.

“Yeah, Mick. Between the two of ‘em, I’m sure ‘e wouldn’t let Helen talk ‘im into anything foolish,” Davy added. Micky glared at both of them.

“You were the ones who believed her! I told ya she was crazy! Peter’s probably –I mean—he’s—he-he could be---.” But before Micky could finish, there was a loud bang on the door which caused the three Monkees to jump.

“Open in the name of the King!” a voice ordered.

Mike moved to open the door and saw the King’s guards there.

“Are you Mike Nesmith, Micky Dolenze, and Davy Jones?” the guard asked.

“Um, yes. I’m Mike, that’s Micky and that’s Davy,” Mike answered as hr pointed each one out.

“You are herby ordered to have an audience with the King. Please come with us,” the guard said.

Mike, Micky and Davy looked at each other and followed the guard to the carriage outside. But before they got in Mike stopped.

“Now just hold on. Can ya at least tell us what this is about?” Mike asked seriously.

“You’ll find out soon enough,” was the reply. And so, the Monkees boarded the coach and set off to the palace.

When Mike, Micky and Davy arrived at the palace, they were taken immediately to the Great Hall. There on a platform sat three people; two of whom looked very familiar. Prince Halsten sat to the left of the King and Princess Helen, to the King’s right.

After the Monkees bowed before the trio, they just could not help looking at Prince Halsten.

“Has Peter lost his mind?” Micky whispered.

“Wha’s ‘e doing up there?” Davy whispered.

“Oh, man I don’t know. This can’t be good,” Mike whispered back.

Just then, the female who looked at lot like the tom-boyish Helen stood. She bore all the markings of an elegant regal. She looked at the boys, smiled and began to speak.
