Chapter 6

After a few hours of avoiding each other it was time to eat dinner.

"Cheeseburgers and fries." Mike smiled.

Micky made a grab at the catsup but couldn't reach it. Davy noticed this and grabbed it. He gently sat it in front of Micky.

"Thanks." Micky said softly.

Davy flashed him a small smile.

"It's a start." Peter whispered happily.

After they ate it was Micky's turn to do the dishes. Davy was about to do them when Micky took the plate from him.

"I'll wash. You dry."

Davy nodded. "Okay."

"After we get done with the dishes, wanna go for a walk on the beach? I promise I won't yell."

"I'm sick of yelling. I won't either." Davy said with a sigh.

The two walked along the beach. Davy picked up a branch and tossed it in the water.

"Look Davy. I know I've been kind of ingoring you and stuff for the past two weeks. I just wanted to let you know that I'm sorry." Micky said.

"I'm sorry too. And your James Cagney impressions are pretty funny."

Davy said with a somewhat smile.

"I'm also sorry for telling Mike to call Santa and let him know one of his elves escaped."

"You never said that." Davy said.

"Yes I did. Just not to your face."

Davy laughed. "That was a good one. Don't feel bad. I told Mike our mop got attached to your head."

Micky laughed.

"Sorry for hogging the bathroom."

"It's okay. You know. This is the longest conversation we had in two weeks. You know. Without yelling."

"I know." Davy smiled.

Micky brightened. "I know the lesson!"

"You do?"

"Yeah! The lesson is "Never take your friends for granted."

"I hope you're right Mick. I hope you're right." Davy sighed.

"Valleyball?"

"Okay."

Micky smiled as he and Davy hit it back and forth.

"I almost forgot how much fun we used to have." Davy said flashing Micky a sad smile.

"How about we never have another fight like this. I mean we've been friends for too long. Been through too much together."

"Agreed. But I thought about what you said. I think I will go back to England." Davy said hitting the ball.

"What?" Micky asked.

The ball smacked his head. "OW."

Davy ran towards him. "Micky? I'm sorry. Are you okay?" Davy placed a hand on Micky's shoulder.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean what I said. Don't go back." Micky said feeling horrible.

Davy grinned. "Micky, I'm going back to England. For a visit! I miss my grandfather. My older sisters. Thought I'd go and see how they're doing."

"Oh. I thought... I thought you were leaving for good."

"Nope. I love California. Besides I'm a Monkee. We're stuck with each other." Davy again grinned.

"Could be worse." Micky also grinned.

"Yeah. Besides there's too many girls here. And you know me." Davy smiled.

"You only dated half of them." Micky laughed.

"So I still have the other half to date." Davy giggled.

Micky rolled his eyes and playfully shoved Davy. Grinning Davy shoved him back.

"Okay! We learned our lesson! Change us back!" Micky yelled.

"I think we have to be asleep." Davy said.

The two looked at each other. Then ran in the house. Davy flew up the stairs.

"Going to bed already?" Mike asked. He was working on a song.

"Yep. Goodnight!" Davy chripped.

"It's only seven o clock." Mike said leaving the room. Davy whimpered. "This is going to be a long night.

It turned out the night went rather quickly. The four worked on two new songs. Watched a couple of movies then went to sleep. Micky nervously awoke the next morning. He ran a hand through his hair.

"Curls!" he grinned.

He raced downstairs and entered Davy and Peter's room. Peter was snuggled up against his teddybear.

Aww. Poor Pete must of had a nightmare. Micky thought with a smile. He than began to gently shake Davy.

"Wake up." Davy slowly opened his eyes. He blinked a few times.

"Micky. You're...you're you!"

Micky laughed. "And you're you too!"

The two gave each other a warm hug.

"It's about time you two hugged." Peter said flashing a dimpled grin.

"I'm going to take a shower." Davy said pulling out some clothes from his and Peter's dressers.

"I get it next!" Micky yelled.

Fifteen minutes later Davy was out. "It's all yours."

Micky smiled. "Thank you."

"I take it you two finally made up." Mike said with a small smile.

"Yeah. We talked, and everything's groovy." Micky said heading to the bathroom.

"Good. Hey. Who drank the last of the milk?" Mike asked.

"I did. Sorry Michael." Peter said.

"Well you know I need it for my coffee. What am I supposed to drink now?" Mike snapped.

"I said I was sorry!" Peter cried.

All that morning Mike and Peter argued. They entered the same resturant they had been to the day before Micky and Davy switched places.

"Everything okay?" the older woman asked.

"Yep." Micky grinned squeezing Davy's shoulder.

"Good." she smiled.

"I'm so sick of you telling me what to do!" they heard Peter yell.

The woman smiled. "Drink?"

"No! Don't drink it!" Davy cried.

"Yeah! Don't!"

It was too late. Peter and Mike both drank it.

"Get plenty of rest tonight. Tomorrow's going to be a long day." Micky sighed.
