Chapter 5

When they arrived at the Bahamas four days later, Micky took a groggy Elaine to the hotel room while her parents, Agnes and Harold, were getting the keys to their own private room. Then Micky met them back in the lobby, "Let me help you both." Micky said smiling at him.

Harold asked, "So when are you going to pop the question to our little baby, Micky?"

"I haven't really thought about it yet. But I will whenever the time is right." Micky replied back as he carried their suitcases to their room. Harold opened the door and Micky walked in with their suitcases and said, "Here you both go. When sleepyhead wakes up, we'll all go down for dinner, ok?"

"Sure Micky. This is the best anniversary present anyone could give us. You and Elaine are so thoughtful." Agnes said with a smile on her face.

"Your daughter thinks the world of you both and she wanted to give you something special for your anniversary. Not to mention it was finally time that I met the both of you considering we've been dating for four years." Micky replied.

"Welcome to the family Micky. We will not spoil your little secret for our daughter." Harold replied.

"Thanks so much Harold. I better go down to the lobby and get our suitcases now before someone walks off with them." Micky said as he left their room to run down to the lobby.

Back down at the lobby, Micky grabbed their two suitcases and brought them back up to the room. He opened the door and walked inside. Elaine was lying on the bed with her legs stretched out just like where Micky had put her before.

Micky put the suitcases down and then went into the bathroom to check it out. After he was finished in the bathroom, he walked back out into the room and sat on the bed next to Elaine. She was snoring like crazy. Micky then remembered he hadn't called Samantha yet. He pulled out his cell phone and called her.

"Hello" the voice answered the phone.

"Who's this?" Micky asked unsure of who it was.

"This is Naomi, who on earth is this?" she asked.

"Hey Naomi, it's Micky. I forgot to call Sam when we arrived in Massachusetts. I was calling to let you know we're in the Bahamas already."

"How's Elaine holding up? Is she asleep?" Naomi asked.

"Yeah, she's asleep." Micky said. "She's snoring away."

"Well I'll tell Sam you called. Her and Mike went out for the day. But I will definitely let her know you called." Naomi replied.

"Thanks Naomi." Micky replied. "How have you been doing?"

"I'm fine Micky. Peter's coming to pick me up soon and take me to the movies. Davy and Louise went to the early matinee, so it's just me here by myself waiting for Peter." Naomi replied.

"That's good that you're all getting along good again." Micky replied.

"Yeah everything is fine here in the land of the lost." Naomi laughed. "Have fun in the Bahamas and don't let my little angel get sunburned, ok? She didn't go to the tanning booths like we all wanted her too before she left, and we're just afraid she's going to get burned like a pancake."

"I'll make sure she's well-lotioned before we sit out on the beach." Micky replied. "Thanks for telling me about that though. I would hate for her to get burned and it ruin our trip." Have fun with Peter tonight."

"Thanks Micky. Yeah he's taking me to dinner and then to a late-night movie. He's been very romantic lately. I'm really enjoying this new side of him." Naomi replied turning red.

"That's good. Pete's a good guy Naomi. He's a gentleman." Micky smiled.

"I better go now Micky, Peter just pulled up in the driveway." Naomi replied.

"Okay have a good time and don't forget to leave Sam a note for me." Micky replied.

"I won't. Thanks and have fun over there." Naomi replied.

"We will. Night." Micky said.

"Night." Naomi replied as she hung up the phone.

She walked to the door and opened it and said, "Come inside Peter. It's going to take me one minute to write Sam a note that Micky called."

"How are they?" Peter asked.

"Good, they just arrived in the Bahamas and Elaine's still out cold. They have to give her a relaxation medication for the flights; or, she just freaks out." Naomi replied.

"Well I'm glad they all got there safely." Peter replied.

Naomi wrote the note and then ran into her room to get her phone, purse, and keys. "Okay I'm ready now." she said smiling at him. They left the house and jumped in Peter's car and went out for the night.

Back in the Bahamas, Micky sat on the bed staring at Elaine. She was just so beautiful to him. Her long reddish-brown hair lying all around the pillow. Micky heard a knock on the door and went to open it. "Hey Agnes, she's still sleeping." Micky said.

"It's okay Micky. We wanted to come and talk with you for a bit." Agnes said as they walked into the room and sat down.

"What's going on?" Micky asked.

"Well Micky, Agnes and I were kind of wondering since baby doll is sleeping anyway if we could go down to the pool for a bit and swim. It's beautiful down there and we haven't swam in a pool in forever." Harold said.

"Sure Harold, that's fine with me. You don't have to ask me for permission." Micky replied.

"Well in case you wondered why we weren't answering the door Micky. We wanted you to know ahead of time where we will be and then when baby doll wakes up, you can come down and get us. Ok?" Agnes asked.

"Sure, that's fine. Have a good time you two." Micky said smiling at them.

Harold and Agnes shook Micky's hand and then walked out of the room. Micky sat back down on the bed and then heard, "Well I guess I should stay asleep for another two hours then, huh?"

Micky looked down and said, "Well, hello there sleepyhead."

Elaine smiled so brightly at him and said, "Hello." Micky leaned down and gave her a kiss on the lips and a big hug.

"Your parents are the sweetest people ever Elaine." Micky replied.

"Thanks Micky." Elaine replied.

She pulled Micky down next to her on the bed and she gave him a hug and said, "I love you."

"I love you too Elaine. You do know that I mean that with all my heart, right? Micky asked.

"Yeah I know you do Micky. And me too. We're great together; and, the best part, we haven't fought in nearly a year," she said to him.

"I thought it was more around two years since we've actually fought?" Micky asked.

"Okay then two years. Whatever, it doesn't matter. The point is we love each other with all of our hearts and souls, right?" she asked.

"Right!" he replied back to her.

She kissed him on the lips again and ran her fingers through his hair. She smiled at him so brightly.

He asked, "What are you thinking about?" as he kissed her forehead.

"Well let's just say that I'm kind of how I get after first taking my relaxation medication." Elaine replied smiling at him.

"Oh really?" Micky asked intrigued.

"Yeah really," Elaine replied as she pulled him in closer to her.

"And what shall we do about that situation?" he asked her coyly.

"This," she replied as she rolled over onto her side to face him and they started to kiss like crazy. The two kissed and hugged for the longest time in each other's arms.

Meanwhile, back down at the pool, Agnes and Harold were having a blast in the pool. They were like kids again splashing the water at each other.

Harold said, "Ahhh, this is the life, isn't it Agnes?"

"Yes, Harold it is. Our daughter has blessed us well. And to think we were going to go to Colorado and freeze." Agnes said.

"Thankfully Micky called us at the right time to tell us about the trip, so we could cancel. I'm so glad he did too." Harold said. "I'm going to swim down to the deep end, Agnes. Are you going to stay here?"

"Yeah, I'm fine right here Harold. Thanks anyway." Agnes replied.

Harold swam down to the deep end of the pool and did laps. He felt like a teenager again.

Later on that night everyone went out to dinner to a neat restaurant Micky found as him and Elaine were taking a walk on the sidewalk by the restaurant. It was called, "The Jumbalaya Restaurant." They all went inside and sat at a large booth with Elaine and Micky on one side and Mr. And Mrs. Nelson on the other.

Elaine said, "This is so neat in here."

Micky replied, "Yeah it's major groovy in my opinion."

The waiter came over and took their drink orders and then left again. Micky was asking Elaine, "What do you want sweetie?"

"I haven't the foggiest Micky. I've never ate this kind of food before." Elaine asked.

Micky looked at the menu and then decided on Cajun Steak. He told Elaine, "They've got your Cajun Shrimp Scampi that you love so well sweetie."

"It's Cajun though Micky. That will tear me apart inside, as I have a very sensitive stomach remember?" Elaine replied.

"Oh yeah that's right. I'm sorry baby." Micky said apologetic.

The waiter walked back over and asked, "Are you folks ready yet?"

"Do you just have like a grilled ham and cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread?" Elaine asked.

"Sure we can get you anything you like." The waiter replied.

"I'll take that then." Elaine said.

"I'll have the Cajun steak." Micky replied.

"No you won't young man. It's much spicier than in the States. Do you think you can handle it?" The waiter asked.

"Yes I'll be fine." Micky replied.

"Okay but don't cry to me when you're in the bathroom getting sick. I tried to warn you." The waiter said.

Agnes and Harold both ordered, "Cajun pasta with a glass of red wine."

Micky and Elaine looked at the price for the wine. Yes they had money, but not enough for her parents to go bonkers.

"Relax you two," Harold said. "I'm treating Agnes to this dinner."

Elaine silently breathed a huge sigh of relief.

Micky checked his pocket and felt for the ring box. It was still there. He paid a ton of money for that ring and he certainly didn't want to lose it in a strange Country.

When the food came out Elaine gasped and said, "Goodness gracious, that thing is huge." Her sandwich was the size of a footlong sub. She couldn't get over it. "And this is a grilled ham and cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread?"

"Yes ma'am, it is. We use the full-length buns for better flavor. Take a nibble and if you don't like it, we can send it back." The waiter said.

Elaine was also nervous being in a new place eating new food. She carefully inspected everything and then took her knife and fork and cut into it. She took a tiny nibble and then smiled at the waiter, "Yes, it's very good. Thank you." she said.

Micky had a huge Cajun steak and you could tell there was tons of seasoning. "Here you go sir. I suggest drinking lots of water with this." the waiter told him very seriously.

Micky cut into it and put a piece into his mouth and then started coughing hysterically.

"You okay?" Elaine asked him.

"It was no lie, it's spicy." he gasped.

"I told you sir." the waiter said. "But you didn't believe me." The waiter turned to her parents and said, "And here is your Cajun pasta with red wine. If you want another glass of wine, let me know. The first bottle here is free. We treat our guests with class."

"Thank you sir" Agnes said to the waiter.

"Let me know if you need anything" the waiter replied. "I'll be back with more water."

They all sat there eating their food. Well, Micky was trying his best with it.

Agnes bit into her pasta and said, "Mmm, this is so good." However, once the flavor started hitting her tongue she said, "Oh my gosh, this is spicy," as she was grabbing for her glass of wine and coughing a little bit.

Elaine whispered to Micky, "Remind me not to let you come here again."

"Yes dear." he gasped as he was trying to eat his food without dying.

It took them three hours, but they were all finally able to finish their food. And once it was down it wasn't so bad for any of them. Micky helped eat the last of Elaine's huge sandwich and that puffed his stomach up even more than it already was.

"I'm stuffed to the gills," Micky said as he was patting his tummy.

"Yeah us too," Harold and Agnes replied.

Elaine looked at Micky's forehead and his hair was covered with sweat. She asked, "Was that from your sandwich or are you having serious heartburn?"

"Um well it's really kind of warm in here now and that's why I'm sweating like crazy." Micky replied.

"Let's go dancing." Harold and Agnes said to their daughter and Micky.

"Sure." Micky said with sparkles in his eyes. "Your daughter is a great dancer."

Elaine couldn't move let alone dance. She was so absolutely full that she felt her pants were going to fly off of her from the buttons exploding. But it was her parents wedding anniversary and if they wanted to go dancing, she could force herself. Plus, it would be a great way to dance off her dinner.

"Where is there dancing at in this place?" Elaine asked.

"Any bar I'm sure has a dance floor," Micky said.

Elaine stood up and her tummy stuck out like she was nine months pregnant. Micky looked at her and asked, "What's wrong?"

"I'm stuffed Micky. My tummy cannot expand any more or it will break open."

Micky put his hands on her tummy and said, "Just relax Elaine. You'll work off your dinner soon."

Elaine put her arm around Micky's and then everyone walked out to the front where Micky and Harold paid the bills and then put a tip on the table for the waiter.

Agnes asked her daughter, "Are you sure you're okay sweetie?"

"I'm fine mother. Please don't worry about me. This is yours and daddy's happy time. Just enjoy yourself." Elaine replied as she rubbed her tummy again.

When they walked out onto the sidewalk and looked around there were a ton of bars to choose from. "Which one do you all want to go in?" Micky asked.

"I don't care as long as they have a bathroom." Elaine snapped. Her tummy was aching horribly from being overstuffed and she knew she would get sick.

"Um, let's just go to this one then. It's closer." Micky said as he was helping Elaine.

The four friends walked into the bar and Elaine saw the restroom sign and said, "I'll be right back."

"I'll go with you dear," Agnes replied as she took her daughter's arm and went to the ladies room.

"Well when are you going to ask our baby doll Micky? Agnes and I are so excited about this." Harold said.

"When the time is right Harold. I'm going to make sure it's the perfect time and not before," Micky replied smiling at him.

When the girls went into the bathroom, Elaine heard a, "mmm, mmm, oooh."

Elaine said, "You have got to be kidding me. Mother can you hear that awful noise?"

"Yes dear. It's perfectly fine. Don't worry about it." Agnes said.

The noise kept getting louder and louder and Elaine was getting more and more disgusted. She finished in the stall and flushed the toilet and walked out to the sink. She refused to look over to her right towards the other stall.

"Some people! Get a room folks." Elaine mouthed off as she was drying her hands.

Agnes opened the stall and then walked to the sink, washed her hands, and then said, "It's okay baby. Some people just never learn manners." Then they both walked back out to greet the guys.

"Feeling better?" Micky asked.

"Not as good as the couple in the ladies room are." Elaine spat. "What horrible manners."

Micky looked at Agnes and Agnes made a face at him telling him she would tell him later.

"Wanna dance?" Micky asked Elaine.

"No, I do not. You can go and dance with my parents. Someone has to sit here and guard the table." Elaine said irritated.

Agnes and Harold went out onto the dance floor and Micky pulled his chair closer to Elaine and asked, "Okay, what's wrong?"

"Nothing," Elaine spat back at him. I want to go back to the hotel and rest. But can I? No, I have to be out here while my parents act like teenagers."

"Something else is bugging you. What is it?" Micky asked.

"Nothing is bugging me Micky. I hurt and I want to go back to the hotel and rest. Is there a crime in that?" Elaine spat.

"Where do you hurt at Elaine?" Micky asked.

"It's not important Micky. It's my business." Elaine replied.

Micky looked into her eyes and asked, "It was that bathroom incident wasn't it? What happened in there?"

"Nothing. It wasn't important. Stupid people." Elaine snapped.

"Obviously it is important Elaine if it's got you so upset." Micky replied softly.

"Listen to me when I talk to you Micky. I said it's not important." Elaine snapped walking away from the table.

"Okay," Micky said to himself. "I'm sorry I won't mention it again." He kept his eyes on Elaine while guarding their table.

Elaine walked outside the bar and stood there breathing the fresh air. It was smoky inside that bar. She was starting to feel her tummy shrink back down to it's normal size and that made her feel better.

When Harold and Agnes returned to the table, Micky said, "Will you two wait here for a minute? I want to check on Elaine. She went outside for some air."

"Sure we'll be here," Harold said.

Micky walked outside and gently took Elaine's arm. "Here you are." he said to her.

"Yeah, here I am. Woohoo! We're having loads of fun, aren't we?" Elaine asked Micky.

"Will you give me at least once dance Elaine?" Micky asked in a gentle voice.

"Um no, I won't." Elaine snapped. "I'm walking back to the hotel and going to bed. You can spend time with my parents making sure they don't act like drunken idiots. I, personally, can't watch it."

"But they're not drunk Elaine," Micky said.

"Oh no? Well then why did they clear two bottles of red wine easily Micky? I'm not going to watch them act like fools." Elaine said.

"It's their anniversary and they are just relaxing Elaine." Micky said.

"Well you can sit here with them then and babysit because I'm going back to the hotel to bed. Goodnight Micky!" Elaine took off down the sidewalk.

Micky walked into the bar and Harold and Agnes asked, "Where's Elaine?"

"Um well, she went back to the hotel. I guess she's really tired," Micky replied.

"Well you can join her Micky if you want. Agnes and I are going to stay here and dance some more. We will be fine. No need to worry about us." Harold said.

"Thanks, but I don't mind staying for a bit. We're celebrating your anniversary, remember?" Micky said with a smile.

Agnes pulled Micky up on the dance floor and they really started to get into the music. Micky felt bad leaving Elaine's parents and since she was going to bed anyway, he might as well enjoy himself.
