During the next few days Micky and Elaine were very busy getting ready to leave that weekend. When their plane was set to leave Micky was checking everything again to make sure it was all their.
"Come on Micky, they're going to take off without us," Elaine said in a hurry.
"I feel like I'm forgetting something," he replied.
"Keys? Inhaler? Suitcases?" Elaine rambled at the top of her head.
"Suitcases, that's it. They're on the luggage rack." Micky replied.
"Go and get them now Micky. We're going to miss our flight!" Elaine screamed at the top of her lungs.
Elaine walked up to the stewardess and said, "Please my boyfriend forgot our suitcases on the luggage rack. He went to get them. We're hurrying."
"It's okay, you're early and have another ten minutes before we leave." The stewardess replied back.
"You're kidding me?" Elaine asked amazed.
"No, you're early Miss. Everything is okay." the stewardess replied.
Micky ran back carrying the suitcases and gasped, "Okay, I've got them all. Let's board."
Elaine looked at him and said, "Uh honey, we're actually early. I just asked the stewardess."
"We're what? All that running around for nothing. Thanks a lot Elaine." Micky gasped as he took a puff on his inhaler.
"I'm sorry," Elaine replied. "I didn't know we were early. I thought we were running late. I'm always running late."
Micky plopped on the chair trying to get his breathing back to normal. He was exhausted. "Early." he kept mumbling to himself over and over again in disgust.
Ten minutes later the stewardess said, "You can board the plane now."
Micky and Elaine boarded the plane and took their seats. Micky breathed out a sigh of relief that they were finally on the plane.
Elaine looked in her purse and said, "Oh my gosh! No, no, please don't tell me. Please don't tell me I forgot it."
"Forgot what?" Micky asked.
Elaine started to scream hysterically, "Oh my gosh we're all going to die. Someone please help me."
Micky sat up in his chair and asked, "Elaine, what on earth is the matter?"
Elaine's eyes opened up wide and she started to hyperventilate. Micky had never seen her this way before. He was terrified.
"Elaine, what's the matter?" Micky asked very concerned.
The stewardess came over and asked, "Excuse me Sir, is this Elaine Nelson?"
Micky replied, "Yeah it is. And I have no idea what's wrong with her."
"I just got a call from someone named Samantha Green who stated that Elaine needs to take these immediately before we leave. They are a relaxant. She's terrified of flying I guess." The stewardess handed Micky two pills and said, "I'll bring her a glass of water."
"Thank you Sam. I owe you a dinner when we return." Micky said to himself. "Thank you Lord Jesus for having Sam call at the right moment in time."
Elaine clung onto Micky's shirt and said, "I'm going to die."
Micky gave her a hug and said, "No you're not sweetie. We're going to be just fine. Just relax and try to breathe. Sam called and we've got your medication for you to take. The stewardess went to get some water. It will be ok."
Micky's cell phone went off and Micky answered it, "Hello?"
The voice asked, "She forgot her pills, didn't she?"
"Sam, praise God. Thank you so much for calling. She's hysterical." Micky replied. "I didn't know what was wrong with her."
"I kind of figured she forgot her pills when I saw the bottle sitting on the cabinet. And I knew she'd freak because she absolutely hates flying." Sam replied.
"Someone should have told me earlier, we could have taken another route." Micky said.
"Just give her those two pills and then when you get into Massachusetts ask her mother to take you to the `Diamond Pharmacy on Luther Avenue.' And they can set you up with another prescription. Tell them it's for Elaine and they won't ask you any questions. They knew her very well." Sam replied.
Micky wrote it down Diamond Pharmacy on Luther Avenue. "Got it. Thanks so much Sam. I owe you big time."
"If you live through the flights with her without going insane, everything will be okay Micky. She'll eventually work herself into a panic and pass out. Just don't leave her for long periods. She might try to cling onto other passengers. And they usually get irate at that, so be forewarned." Sam replied.
"Thank you so much Samantha. I love you for knowing Elaine inside and out like this. I didn't know what was happening to her." Micky replied.
"Oh my gosh we're going to die," Elaine screamed at the top of her lungs and Samantha took the phone away from her ears it was so loud. "Poor Micky." she thought to herself.
"I better go now Sam. She's starting to really freak. I wish that waitress would bring the water back right away." Micky replied.
"Take care bud, and have a great flight. Try to keep her as relaxed as possible. Oh yeah, there's an oxygen mask over her seat if she needs it. I already told the stewardess when I talked with her that Elaine definitely needed an oxygen mask just in case." Sam replied.
"Thank you Sam. I'll call you when we arrive in Massachusetts." Micky replied.
"You're welcome and have a good flight. Try to sleep if you can." Sam replied.
The stewardess brought back the water and Micky said, "Thank you. Sam said there's an oxygen mask above the seat?" The stewardess pointed to where it was and Micky replied, "Thanks again."
"You're welcome," the stewardess replied.
Micky told Elaine, "Here's some medicine for you sweetie. Just take these and everything will be okay."
Micky handed the pills to Elaine and she took them with her water. She held onto his arm so tightly that he almost lost circulation in it.
About five minutes after she took the medication, Micky felt a release on his arm and he looked at Elaine. She was sitting there looking around at the plane and said, "Wow, look at the pretty roof Micky. It's so nice, isn't it?"
"Yeah it's neat Elaine. Just rest and relax, ok?" Micky asked smiling at her.
"Okay. I love you." Elaine replied smiling at him.
Micky's cell phone started to ring again and Micky answered it, "Hello?"
"Oh Micky I forgot to tell you something. Once that medicine starts to kick in at first Elaine gets really frisky, so watch her. Then she'll eventually relax and fall asleep." Sam replied.
"Frisky? Sam, oh my word, we're on a plane with people all around us. Why does she get that way?" Micky asked nervously.
"It's a side effect from the relaxation medicine. It's either that or have her hysterical, which would you prefer Micky?" Sam asked.
"Um, okay. Thanks for calling back Sam. Bye." Micky replied. "Frisky, oh my gosh, we're going to get arrested." he thought to himself.
Elaine took a sip of her water and then poured some down her blouse and said, "Ahhh, that feels much better."
Micky's eyes about popped out of his head. "Elaine, don't do that. Please don't do that. We've got people all around us sweetie. We can't do that on a plane." Micky replied so nervous.
He tried to put a napkin down her blouse to try to wipe it off, but Elaine grabbed his arm and whispered, "Let's make love right here."
Micky was so beside himself. At any other given moment he would have taken Elaine up on that, but not in the plane. "No we can't sweetie. Just try to relax and go to sleep, ok?"
Micky saw the napkin hanging out of Elaine's top and carefully put his hand there trying to remove it without her knowledge, but she caught his arm again and whispered, "I love you."
"I love you too sweetie," Micky replied yanking the napkin out of her blouse. She would have to sit there in a wet top until they got to Massachusetts and hopefully it would be dry by then. "Someone should have warned me ahead of time about this." Micky thought to himself over and over again.
The plane started to move and Elaine started to sing the song, "Good Vibrations" from the Beach Boys and Micky was so embarrassed as she was rocking back and forth in her seat.
He looked at the people staring at them and said, "Um yeah well she's afraid of flying and took a relaxant. She'll be fine. Don't mind us at all. Really." He put his head down lower and wanted to laugh hysterically he was so nervous and watching Elaine acting like not her normal nature was making him very frisky himself.
When the plane took off Elaine screamed, "Wheee!"
Micky held onto her hand and said, "It's okay." When the plane evened out, Micky felt a thud on his shoulder. He looked over and Elaine had passed out cold. "Thank you Lord" he said over and over again as he made sure Elaine's head was resting comfortably on the pillow that he had placed on his shoulder.
Micky stretched out his arms and legs and just relaxed. He felt the thud again on his shoulder so he decided to just put her pillow on his shoulder and she could lay like that the entire trip. So he hoped anyway.
He closed his eyes and tried to rest as well; however, he also made sure her purse was wrapped around his arm and that he held her hand in his. That way if she tried to stand up, he would know right away.
~~~~~
Hours later, they arrived back in Massachusetts and Elaine's parents met them at the gate. Elaine was half asleep, but her mother recognized her. "You must be Micky?" she said to Micky who was holding Elaine's hand.
"Yes, that's me. And you must be Mrs. Nelson." He replied.
"Call me Agnes, Micky. So nice to meet you finally."
"We had to give Elaine some relaxants for the plane ride, so she's kind of out of it still." Micky said.
"Oh yes, my daughter is terrified of flying. The girls have to give her relaxants all the time to get through the flights. Our Pharmacist knows poor Elaine by name." Agnes replied.
"I will need to get her some of that medication before we leave for the Bahamas." Micky replied.
"Yes, I will take you there once we get my little baby home safely. Ok?" Agnes asked.
"Okay that's fine" Micky replied.
Micky got the luggage while Mrs. Nelson held onto Elaine and her purse.
"Did she have a carryon bag Micky?" Mrs. Nelson asked. Micky's mind started to race, "Carryon, carryon? Hmm."
"No, we just brought two suitcases each I believe. However, let me check the plane again." Micky said as he ran back into the plane to search their area and it was all clear. He checked under the seats as well. "Whew!" he breathed a breath of relief.
"Come on baby. We'll get you back to momma's house so you can rest sweetie." Agnes said to her daughter giving her a kiss on the forehead.
"I love you momma." Elaine replied very sleepily.
"We love you too baby." Agnes replied.
"Where's the car?" Micky asked wanting to get rid of the heavy suitcases. "Harold, my husband, is bringing it around to the front Micky. He'll help you get them into the car." Agnes replied.
Micky's tummy started to knot. He was going to meet her father. He hoped his hair looked okay. This was a huge moment for him.
"Harold, over here!" Agnes cried out joyfully. "Here's the young man."
Harold parked the car and Micky walked up to him and said, "Pleasure to meet you sir."
"So this is the young man I've been speaking with?" Harold asked.
"Yes sir, I'm Micky." Micky replied. "Nice to finally meet you. You have a beautiful daughter and wife."
"Well thank you son. We're going to get along really good." Harold said as he took the suitcases from Micky.
Micky breathed a sigh of relief as he got into the back seat with Elaine. "I see my sweetie pie had to have her relaxants again?" Harold asked.
"Yes sir. But she's doing great." Micky replied.
"Another hour and she'll be as good as new," Agnes replied. "Oh dear, stop at the Diamond Pharmacy so Micky can pickup some more relaxants for Elaine. She left her medication at home."
Harold drove them to the Diamond Pharmacy and Micky said, "I'll be right back. Anyone need anything?"
"No, we're fine dear," Agnes said smiling at him. "Thank you anyway."
Micky smiled as he walked into the Pharmacy and went back to the Pharmacy department and told who he was. He had to show his ID and the Pharmacist asked, "Are you who I think you are?"
"Um yeah, I am sir. But please don't make an announcement to anyone. I don't want to be mobbed with people." Micky said shyly.
The Pharmacist gave Micky the medication and said, "Our little Elaine. She's got herself a handsome hunk after all these years. Praise God for we thought she'd be single forever."
Micky just smiled and said, "Thank you," as he walked to the Register to pay for the medication.
~~~~~
Back at the house Agnes showed Micky where Elaine's room was and said, "We put an extra bed in the room for you Micky. It might be a little cramped inside, but we're sure you two will manage for two days."
"Thank you Agnes." Micky replied.
Micky put Elaine down on the bed and stared at her room. He had never seen her parents' house before, so it was quite neat to see how Elaine's old room used to look. She had posters of Jesus all over the walls and there were a ton of crosses on her old dresser.
Agnes walked back in the room and said, "Micky, this is for you and Elaine as a thank you for what you are all doing for our anniversary." She handed him a package and walked out of the room closing the door.
Micky opened the package and just stared at it. He could not believe her parents were so cool with everything. It blew him away. Elaine opened up her eyes and looked at Micky. "Are we there yet?" she asked.
"Yeah baby we're in your room now. Your parents just gave us this gift as a thank you." Micky said.
Elaine sat up and asked, "What is it?" Micky showed Elaine the package and she blushed five shades of red. "Oh my goodness. Why on earth would they give us that?" she asked.
"I was just asking myself the same thing dear. I have no idea." Micky replied trying to hide the fact that he was going to propose to her in the Bahamas.
Elaine put the package away in her nightstand and said, "Um well, okay then. My parents are certainly becoming more liberal."
Micky kissed Elaine and said, "I love your parents."
Elaine snickered and said, "I'm sure you do Micky. And I'm sure they love you too."
