Elaine handed the phone back to Sam and Sam said, "See, I told you she's fine."
Micky replied, "Ibuprofen, Iron pills, and vitamins. Make sure she eats something before taking them and I will see you tonight at 5pm."
Sam replied, "Okay, thanks Micky. Have a good day."
"You too Sam, and thanks for calling." Micky replied.
Micky hung up the phone and lifted his head again. "What's the matter?" Davy asked.
"Oh nothing. Elaine just fell in the shower and they felt the need to call me so I wouldn't get mad because she was out of the bed when I specifically told Sam not to let her out of the bed." Micky replied.
"They didn't want you to worry Micky. That's so sweet." Peter said.
Micky took another puff on his inhaler that was in his pocket and sat there for a moment. "Where we were?" he then asked.

Back at the house, Sam finished changing the sheets on the bed and then helped Elaine get out of the bath. Elaine drained the water and then sat back on the toilet to get herself dressed.
Sam brought in some warm fuzzy pajamas that Elaine could put on and then Elaine said, "Hand me the stuff in the closet okay Sam?"
"Sure" Sam replied to her friend.
Sam got into the closet and handed Elaine the stuff she requested from the closet and then left the room.
When Elaine came back out of the bathroom Sam guided her friend back into the bedroom and helped her in the bed. "Here's the food Micky requested you to eat and here's your vitamins, Iron pills, and Ibuprofen." Sam replied.
"Thank you Sam. I love you sweetie." Elaine said smiling at her friend.
"I love you too Elaine. Get some rest and Micky will be home at 5pm. I'm going to sit in the living room and watch a little TV. Yell if you need me for anything, ok?" Sam told her friend.
"Okay" Elaine replied. "Thank you so much for staying with me today."
"You're welcome. Get some rest after you eat your food and take your pills." Sam replied.
Elaine smiled at her friend and then ate her food and took all the pills that were in front of her. Sam kept the Valium in a plastic baggy and shoved them into her pocket so she wouldn't lose them and Elaine couldn't get a hold of them.
Sam sat in the living room and breathed a sigh of relief. She knew Micky was very upset at her and she would probably hear about it when he got home, but she couldn't argue with Elaine. Elaine was a very persistent young woman.
Hours later, Micky arrived home to find Sam asleep in the chair and Elaine asleep on the bed. He quietly took the tray from Elaine's room and put it into the kitchen. Then he walked over to Sam and kissed her forehead.
Sam opened her eyes and said, "Micky, when did you arrive home?"
"Just a few minutes ago. I see she's sleeping." he told her.
"Yeah she's been asleep all afternoon after eating her food and taking her pills." Sam replied. "She never called me again to help her with anything, so I let her be."
"Thanks for being here with her Sam. I'm sorry you had to use your vacation time though." Micky replied.
"It's ok, I will do anything for Elaine. She's my baby sister" she replied.
Micky walked into Elaine's room and said, "I'm home sweetie. It's 5:30pm already." Elaine opened her eyes and lifted her arms up to greet him.
He sat on the bed and gave her the biggest hug imaginable. "I love you sweetie. How are you feeling?"
"I have to use the bathroom again Micky. But I'm okay. Did you call momma and daddy yet for me?" Elaine asked.
"Yes I did and they were so flattered what we had done for them that they called their friends right away and denied the trip. I just got off the phone with your father before I walked into the house." Micky said with a smile.
"Praise God." Elaine cried out lifting her arms to the Lord. "Thank you Jesus, thank you Jesus, thank you Jesus. Thank you too, Micky" she said to him.
"You're welcome baby. See I told you all you had to do was trust me." Micky replied back at her.
Elaine gave him a kiss and then walked into the bathroom and closed the door. Micky walked back out to the living room and said, "The crisis is all taken care of."
"That's good Micky. I'm glad they were happy about what you and Elaine were doing for them." Samantha replied.
"Me too Sam, me too." Micky replied back breathing a sigh of relief.
Elaine came out of the bathroom and told Micky, "I'm going to lie back down now. Sam has been so good to me. I'm fine. I want you to take her out to dinner as a thank you."
"You're sure you're fine Elaine?" Micky asked.
"Yes, I'm fine. Take her out to dinner as a thank you since she had to waste her afternoon with me changing icky sheets and helping me when I fell." Elaine insisted.
"Okay I'll do that then. I'll bring you back a turkey sub ok?" Micky asked.
"Okay that's fine." Elaine replied. "See you when you get back home."
Micky took Sam out to dinner, per Elaine's request, to a sub sandwich shop down the street. "I can't thank you enough for staying with her today, Sam."
"It was okay. I didn't mind. Plus I got to have half a day off to just relax. I'm really glad her folks cancelled their Colorado trip. I know she would be so hurt if she lost all that money and I know you would too." Sam replied.
"Yeah, I'm happy Mr. Nelson answered the phone because I asked him what I wanted to ask him now instead of waiting until we are over there because then Elaine might hear and I don't need her hearing what I needed to ask him." Micky replied.
"Huh?" Sam asked (confused out of her mind).
"Please don't let on to Elaine, Sam, but in the Bahamas, I'm going to propose to her." Micky replied.
"You are?" Sam asked surprised.
"Yeah, I am. I asked her father's permission today on the phone when I told him about our surprise anniversary vacation for them." Micky replied.
"Wow, this is really something Micky. I didn't even know you and Elaine had ever talked about marriage." Sam replied.
"Well not really. We've just been dating for four years now and I think we've really grown much stronger in our relationship and I think she would like it as much as I know I would." Micky replied. "You aren't as happy as I thought you'd be Sam. What's wrong?"
"Me? Nothing's wrong. Why would something be wrong Micky? It's just a huge shock to me that's all." Samantha replied.
Micky didn't like the look on Sam's face and asked, "Are you against me marrying her Sam? Because I thought we've been getting along really good."
"No Micky, I'm not against you. I just think that you might want to consult Elaine about marriage before actually proposing her. You know she is quite the independent woman." Samantha replied. "Elaine does not really like surprises either. I thought you knew that by now?"
Micky finished his food and paid the bill. Then he told Sam, "Wow! This is really a shocker talking to you tonight Sam. You have single-handedly ruined my idea completely. Not that I'll listen to you or anything because I know in my heart that Elaine loves me and I know in my heart that she will more than likely say yes."
"Well then don't listen to me then Micky. If you feel it in your heart then who am I to argue with that. I'm just very shocked that's all. I'm happy for you I really am. I'm just shocked that my baby sister will be engaged." Samantha replied.
"Thanks again for staying with Elaine today. It is greatly appreciated." Micky said as he stood on his feet.
"You're welcome" Sam replied. "Thanks again for dinner and have a good night."
The two friends went out to their separate cars and went their separate ways. Micky was kind of upset at Samantha's less than thrilled look at the upcoming news. He had always felt he got along great with the girls, so this was definitely a shocker.

Back at the house Micky walked inside and checked on Elaine. She was in bed asleep snoring away. Micky locked up the house and then went into the spare room and cried. He honestly felt like he was doing the right thing.
After his crying spell, he prayed to God about the situation. "Dear God, you know Elaine's heart. Do you think this is the right thing for me to do? I love her with all of my heart and soul Lord; and, after tonight's episode with Sam I am having serious doubts. Please guide me to the correct path Lord, for right now I am so lost I can't see straight. Thank you for hearing my prayer. I pray this in your precious son Jesus' name. Amen." Micky then dried his tears and went into the bedroom and crawled in the bed next to Elaine and then went to sleep.
