Davy: Hey, you all right?
Girl (Wiping her eyes): No.
Davy: What's the matter?
Girl (Still wiping tears): Nothing.
Davy: C'mon, it' can't be 'nothing' or you wouldn't be here crying. (She didn't say anything) They say if you talk to a stranger, you might feel better. And I'm a good listener. (She still didn't say anything) I'm Davy Jones. What's your name?
Girl: Beth Reynalds.
Davy: Nice to meet you Beth. This rock taken?
Beth (Cracking a small smile with a small laugh): No. (Davy sits down on the rock next to her)
Davy: So tell me; what's bothering you so bad you have to be out here by yourself crying.
Beth: I told you that it was nothing.
Davy: Awe c'mon! I can help; honest I can.
(A voice is heard from up on the hill)
Woman's Voice: Beth! Time to go!
Beth (To Davy): I'm sorry. I have to go.
Davy: Go..? But you just got here.
Beth: My parents just got a divorce and I have to go with my mother to San Francisco until the weekend.
Davy: Oh I am so sorry to hear that. Does your dad live there?
Beth: Yes. He's going to keep the beach house for a while. I'll be back every other weekend until school is out and then I'll be here for the summer.
Davy: Well I'll be here when you come back. I live right there (Davy points to the beach house up the way a bit). If you need to talk, please come find me.
Beth (Small smile): Thank you Davy.
Davy: Welcome. Here. (Davy takes off his blue and white beaded necklace) Take this.
Beth: Davy, I can't.
Davy: Please..? This way it is a promise to you that I will be here for you when you come back. (Beth hesitates but lets Davy put the necklace on her) I'll see you soon okay?
Beth (Smiling even more now): Thank you. (Davy gives her a hug and then she walks up to her house -- looking back at Davy just as she gets to the top and then disappears inside the house)
