"Dave, still asleep?" Micky asked.
"Yeah. I think something's bothering him. But he won't tell me about it." Peter said sounding worried.
"Milk?" Mike asked quickly changing the subject.
"Thank you." Peter smiled.
Davy then entered. "Morning."
"Is something wrong?" Peter asked.
"No." Davy said not looking at him.
"Come on. You can tell me. You've been a really good friend, to me the past couple of days." Peter smiled.
"I'm fine. I'm going to take a walk on the beach." Davy said getting up from his chair. He walked outside.
"I wonder what's wrong? How come he won't tell me?" Peter wondered.
"Sausage or bacon?" Mike asked again hoping to change the subject.
It worked.
Davy walked along the beach feeling horrible. "Everything's a mess
and it's all my fault." he thought bitterly.
"What are you so bummed about. I'm the one who made a fool out of herself." a voice said.
He looked behind him and seen Amber lying on a blanket.
"Hi." he said softly.
"So, I didn't creep you out?" she asked.
"No, this is all my fault. I should've told you from the begining about everything. I do like you. As a friend. Peter's the one who has a crush on you."
She looked surprised. "Peter? But he never talks to me."
"He's really shy. That's why I've been tagging along. I'm sorry for misleading you like that." Davy said softly.
She smiled. "It's okay. Sorry for kissing you like that. I just thought you liked me."
"I do. But as a friend." Davy said.
"So Peter likes me." Amber smiled getting that far away look in her eyes.
"He's crazy about you. But don't tell him I told you." Davy begged.
"So? Friends?" Amber asked holding her hand out.
Davy took it.
"Friends." he smiled. "And as a friend I think you and Peter should do something tonight. I won't be there this time."
"Alright, but what?"
"Go to a movie, maybe out to dinner. Something like that." Davy explained.
"Alright. Tell him I'll be over at seven. Thanks Davy." Amber said smiling.
Davy stood up and felt proud of himself. He walked back to the beach house. "Where's Peter?" he asked.
"Right here." Peter said.
"I got you a date with Amber tonight." Davy explained.
"Groovy." Peter grinned.
"I'm not going." Davy stated.
"You have to! Please!" Peter begged.
"No Pete. You're on your own tonight. Besides a girl can't really get to know you if your best friend is always tagging along. You'll be fine. Just be yourself." Davy said smiling.
Peter sighed. "I'm scared."
"Everyone is. It's normal. Right Mike?" Davy asked.
"I know I was. Still am." Mike said.
"What do I wear?" Peter asked.
"Something casual. You're just going to the movies." Davy explained.
Mike handed him some money. "Here take her out for ice cream after."
"Thanks you guys." Peter said. He still felt nervous."I don't think I can do this."
"Yes you can. Davy's right. Just be yourself." Mike smiled.
"It's all you can be right?" Davy asked.
A few hours later Peter walked towards the guys who were playing
cards.
"Well?" he asked. He was wearing gray pants, and his blue longsleaved shirt with eight white buttons.
"Sharp." Micky smiled.
Someone knocked on the door.
"It's her." Peter gasped.
"Relax. Go answer the door." Mike said.
Amber entered and started talking with the guys, soon after that they left. Davy started acting like he was nervous.
"Maybe I should've went." he said.
"Dave, Pete's a big boy. He can do it." Mike said.
"Yeah, Pete can do this." Micky smiled.
"I hope nothing goes wrong." Davy said with a sigh.
"What can go wrong?" Micky asked.
"Plenty." Davy said.
