"This is great! The gig's in four days and we have no place to practice!" Davy yelled.
"Calm down. Look Peter's fixing dinner and I don't know about you but I'm starved. We'll worry about the gig later." Mike patted Davy's back.
"Oh good. You guys are here! Dinner's almost ready." Peter grinned.
"Great! I'm famished." Davy said sitting down.
"What is it tonight Pete?" Micky asked as he began sitting the table.
"Hamburger helper. The cheeseburger kind."
"Smells good." Davy said pouring himself a glass of milk.
"I'm also making corn."
"I love corn. I think it's my favorite vegetable. Next to potatoes." Davy smiled.
"Oh I hate potatoes." Peter frowned.
"Is it ready yet?" Mr. Babbit asked.
"Almost."
He entered the kitchen and sniffed the air. "What's that smell?"
"Dinner."
"Smells awful!"
"Hey, cool it man! Peter works hard on his meals." Mike snapped.
"So do ovens." Mr.Babbit replied.
Davy shoved a forkful of hamburger in his mouth glaring straight
ahead.
"Good meal Pete!" Micky said carrying his plate to the sink.
"Thanks!" Peter grinned. "Did you like it Mr.Babbit?" Davy asked as he walked over to the sink to wash the dishes.
"It didn't kill me." Mr.Babbit shrugged.
Davy took off his rings and filled the sink up with very warm water and grabbed a plate.
"You missed a spot." Mr.Babbit pointed out.
"Gee thanks Mr.Babbit." Davy said his voice thick with sarcasm.
"Why are doing plates first?"
"I'm not. I'm doing whatever dish I grab." Davy explained.
"It should be cups and glasses. Then the silverware, then your plates then your pans, and then your skillets."
"I don't have all night! I-"
"That plate isn't dry! And that glass is spotty! Do them again!" Mr.Babbit yelled.
"I'm counting to ten. I'm counting to ten." Davy told himself over and over again.
