"Right." Mike said
"I didn't! One minute we're talking, the next I know she's kissing me! I tried to pull away but she wouldn't let go of me! Til you guys came." Davy tried to explain.
"Right." Mike repeated.
"I'm telling the truth! You gotta believe me!" Davy cried.
"I can't even look at you right now."
That being said Mike started for the pad.
Peter and Micky were in the middle of doing the dishes when they heard a door slam so hard the pad actually shook. Peter winced.
"Hey Mike." Micky said with caution.
"You think you know someone!" Mike yelled.
Peter jumped because of Mike's angry tone. He seen Mike angry before, but never this angry.
"What happened?" Micky asked.
Mike sighed. "I went out there to see what was taking Davy and Beverly so long. I seen Beverly slap Davy acrossed the face. She said he's an animal. That he kissed her, and wouldn't let go of her!"
"Davy?" Micky asked in shock.
"That doesn't sound like him." Peter frowned.
"No, it doesn't." Micky agreed.
"Where is he?" Peter asked.
"Out on the beach. And he can stay out there! I begged you guys to behave, and he pulls something like this!"
That being said Mike stormed up the spiral staircase.
Peter let out a soft sigh as he went out to the beach. He seen Davy sitting next to a rock. He seemed to be on the verge of tears.
"Wanna talk about it?" Peter asked.
Davy stood up. "What's there to talk about? Mike hates me. Walter's going to kill me the moment he gets the chance. And nobody believes me about what really happened between me and Beverly."
"What did happen?" Peter asked softly.
"I'm so sorry man. Davy's usually a gentleman around girls." Mike said.
"Well I don't know your friend." Walter said.
"I guess I don't either." Mike said.
His tone was mixed with sadness and anger.
"Hey Mike?" Peter said entering the downstairs bedroom.
"Hold on Pete. I'm not going to press charges. We just want to get out of here." Walter said.
"That's understandable."
Walter nodded. "I'm sorry Mike. But we're leaving tomorrow morning." he said leaving the room.
"Hey Mike. I talked to Davy and I believe him. I think he's telling the truth." Peter said.
"Well I don't. Beverly's not a liar." Mike snapped.
"Neither is Davy!" Peter said angrly.
"I'm done talking about it. Goodnight." Mike said roughly passing Peter as he headed for the spiral staircase.
Peter sighed as he walked around the pad. He seen Davy sleeping in the hammock. Micky tossed a blanket over him and also sighed.
"He's sleeping on the hammock?" Peter asked.
"He said he doesn't want to be in the same room as Mike. He's afraid Mike'll hurt him. Plus he's upset that Mike doesn't believe him about what happened." Micky explained.
"Do you?"
"How many girls has Davy dated since we've known him? Quite a few. I've never heard any of those girls say anything like this before. I think Beverly's lying. All we have to do is prove it to Mike."
"How? Peter asked.
Part Two: Proof
Peter poured himself a cup of coffee when he seen Beverly come out of the downstairs bedroom.
"Hello Beverly." he said giving off a very dimpled grin.
"Morning." she frowned.
"Did you sleep okay?" Peter asked still smiling.
"I slept fine."
"That's good. I'm normally not like this. But I find you very attractive." Peter purred.
"I'm sorry Peter. But you're not my type." Beverly said.
He noticed that she didn't say I'm married.
"But Davy is. Right?" Peter asked.
Beverly blushed. "What did he tell you?"
"The truth." Peter replied in a tone that was as cold as ice.
"Well it doesn't really matter what happened." Beverly smiled.
"So you admit Davy didn't do anything wrong. This was all you're doing." Peter said.
"What if it was. Doesn't really matter anyway. Everyone believes me." Beverly grinned.
"Until now. Did you get it Mick?" Peter asked.
Micky came out from his hiding place clicking off the stop button on his tape recorder. "Got it." He then looked at Beverly. "You're going down."
Beverly's face drained of all color as she heard Micky yell for Mike and Walter.
"Come here and listen to this!"
The two entered the room and were in shock as they heard Beverly confess about Davy. Mike felt horrible. Davy had been telling the truth.
"Honey I-"
"Don't. Just don't. How could you try to cheat on me!? We're married! And then you tried to put the whole thing on poor Davy? Saying he was an animal! I could've really hurt him you know." Walter said heatedly.
"I'm sorry!" Beverly cried.
"This is one sorry too many! When we get back home I'm moving out! I want a divorce!"
"You can't be serious!" Beverly cried.
Mike could still hear them fighting as they were leaving. He was in shock.
"Davy was telling the truth Mike." Micky said.
"We're sorry you guys had to find out like this." Peter said.
Mike nodded. "Where's Davy?"
Peter pointed to the beach.
Mike walked outside and seen Davy sitting in the sand. His knees were up to his chest.
"Hey." Mike said.
Davy looked up at him but didn't say anything. Mike could see the anger and hurt in his eyes making Mike feel worse than before.
"Peter tricked Beverly into confessing everything. Micky recorded it and we know everything." Mike said.
"Well I'm not one to say I told you so. But I did! I told you so!"
Mike sat next to Davy in the sand."Look Davy. I'm really sorry. I should've believed you. I won't blame you if you never speak to me again. But I hope you can forgive me. You're like a little brother to me. I don't want to lose that because of me being stupid."
Davy felt tears burn his eyes and a lump formed in his throat. "You really hurt my feelings."
"I'm really sorry okay. Think you can forgive me?" Mike asked.
"Some things are unforgiveable." Davy said quietly.
"I understand." Mike said standing up.
He felt horrible thinking he had lost one of his best friends. Until he heard Davy let out a soft sigh.
"Luckily this isn't one of those things." Davy said standing up.
Davy had a small grin on his face. Mike laughed as he shook his fist at Davy.
"I outta...I mean you really made me sweat there for a minute."
"So we're even?" Davy asked.
"Yeah, I guess so. I'm not a hugger or anything. But do you think I could get a hug from ya?" Mike asked.
Davy smiled as he gave Mike a warm hug. Mike warmly returned it. They both heard someone sniffling.
"I want in!" Peter sobbed.
The two laughed as Peter squeezed his way in.
"Make room for Micky!" Micky yelled shoving his way through.
Davy laughed as Micky almost knocked him out of the hug. He squeezed his way back in again.
After the group hug was over Mike let out a sigh.
"I feel horrible."
"Me too. Walter and Beverly are getting divorced." Davy sighed.
"It's not your fault man." Mike said.
"Something tells me this isn't the first time this has happened." Peter said.
"I know it's not my fault. But I still feel bad." Davy sighed.
"Hey, maybe after the divorce is final. You and Beverly can date." Micky joked.
"Not in a million years!" Davy exclaimed causing everyone to laugh.
"I will say this. From now on I'll believe everything you guys tell me." Mike smiled.
"So if I say there's a cat doing backflips in the living room you'll believe me? Gee, and you guys say I'm a dummy." Peter laughed.
"Okay I'll believe almost everything you guys tell me." Mike laughed.
He then looked at Davy and held his hand out. It was Mike's way of saying can we forget this ever happened.
"Forgotten." Davy smiled as he shook Mike's hand.
And it was.
