As evening approached, it was time to feed the little charges. Mike explored what seemed like Kevin's bottomless diaper bag for a jar of food and tiny spoon while May sat on a few telephone books at the table.
"Don't pull the table cloth" Davy gentle reminded her, but she had other plans.
"C'mon May, let me read you a story" Peter offered as he picked her up. Peter took out her book and sighed. "I can't read this".
"C'mon Pete, you've been able to read since you were fifteen years old" Mike reminded him.
"Yeah, but this book is written in Chinese." Peter replied.
"The next time Kait and Liu want us to sit for their kids, tell them to bring a translator!" Micky said in a frustrated tone as he prepared to feed Kevin.
May, not satisfied with Peter's ad-libbing her favorite story, walked over to Kevin and playfully slapped him on the head. Of course, the baby boy was not thrilled with his older sister's display of "affection". Peter gently reprimanded her to which May replied. Her words were incomprehensible to the four of them.
"I think she's bilingual," Davy said fascinated with her tenacity to communicate.
"At least she'll have no trouble getting a date when she's older." Peter said proudly.
"No Peter." the guys said shaking their heads.
Micky had his struggles feeding the youngest member of the household.
"What's in the jar?" Mike asked.
"It's some strange pudding-like substance. But he seems to like it. At least what he's kept in his mouth."
Davy observed Kevin's playfulness even at mealtime. "They really are cute kids." he said smiling.
"Yeah, it's hard to believe they're Liu's." Mike interjected in a matter-of-fact tone.
The guys and girl tried to eat as best they could as May turned everything into "finger food" and Kevin became affectionately known as the "dribble monster".
