About Filipino Service Committee (FSC)

  It is year 1980 when FSC was established by a group of Filipinos in St. Francis Xavier Church Petaling Jaya. It mainly catered to a group of Filipinos who lived near by PJ, consist of domestic helpers, Engineers, students and Professors. Now the present FSC grown in numbers, most members came from outside Petaling Jaya. The main purpose of FCS existence is to provide spiritual and social assistance to Filipino domestic workers in Malaysia . Spiritual assistance comes in the form of bible studies, retreats, liturgy preparations and other formation. Social assistance revolves around organizing sports, fellowship, film shows. The other celebration deemed reflective of Filipino culture and tradition such as Christmas party, Easter Sunday feast, Philippine Independence day, among others. In most of this social celebration, a few individuals are invited o grace the occasion, mostly from Philippine Consular and labour offices.

 

On wider network, FSC plans and implements programme of the (FSS) Filipino Services Secretariat of (NOHD) National Office For Human Development of which Bro. Anthony Rogers is the director. It also builds a strong network with other church based Filipino groups such as Tahanang Filipino of St. John’s Cathedral, Filipino Migrant Ministry of St. Ignatius Church Kelana Jaya, El Shadai  of St. Antony’s Church Pudu and some small group of Filipinos such as Legion of Mary, Filipino Seremban group of Church of Visitation Seremban . Programme such as Migrant Sports Fest, Migration Sunday Celebration, Migrants Christmas day Celebration and outing and retreats are organize by the help of this mention groups including (FSC) Filipino Service Committee.

 

At present there are about 200 members are registered but on 40 are regularly comes to the center otherwise known as Bahay ni Maria or Mother Mary’s Home. It is this place they call home because they feel comport doing things such as cooking Filipino foods, chatting with friends, dancing and singing ballads, this place became their second home.
